[Nice seeing the PCs leverage their special abilities! grin Chandan is out of Ki by the way. He has 5 total, but has done two Water Whips and a Step of the Wind.]

Yes. That is what I am saying. I have visions of Legolas firing arrows while climbing up the oliphant!

Sorry, I just re-read the horde breaker ability. It has a specific disqualifying phrase:
Quote
Once on each of your turns when you make a weapon attack, you can make another attack with the same weapon against a different creature that is within 5 feet of the original target and within range of your weapon.

The specific disqualifying phrase is the first 6 words: "Once on each of your turns". So you only get the 3 attacks. I just learned something.

The hordebreaker on the second target was a critical hit.

OOC: Didn't get around to resolving for the ogres last night. MikeD, please roll 1d8 for crit damage. If not better than the 4 you got with your invalid 4th attack damage (you rolled a 1d8+4=8 damage) I'll take that.

Even though Luminmorn failed to strike the ogre, he was part of a barricade that prevented the ogres from reaching others. That gave his allies a chance to rain death upon them. Ryssa brought down fiery fury on one and then Bern let three arrows fly. One of his shots was aimed so perfectly that it found its way into the ogre's eye sockets and felled it. The other was a severe blow to the other.

The two remaining ogres attack the dragonborn. One slams Luminmorn with his huge club, the other takes a swing at Kriv but he is able to block the attack.

As Chandan gets ready to finish off the ogres, the great booming sound that has echoed through the mines does so again but this time, even before the echo dies down, a flash of light streaks up from lake below to the cliff above where the battle rages. It blossoms with a low roar into a ball of fiery death. It is suddenly very clear why the ogres were here. The drow! He's making his escape through the lake into the darkness beyond.

The ball of fire engulfs everyone not deep inside the corridor. One of the two ogres screams in agony before he is quieted forever. The other shrugs off the pain to continue his battling.

Kriv, Chandan, Bern, Davroar and Luminmorn need to make DC 14 dex checks. If you fail, take 21 points of damage, if you succeed you take only 10.

Chandan

"There is Black Spider!!" He shouts, pointing at the drow with the tip of his spear, before realising there's still an ogre on the loose.

With a grunt, Chandan jumps forward, thrusting his enchanted weapon at the giant and following up with a shin kick to its knee.

[Chandan hits for 21 damage total]

OOC: 21 is not enough to fell the ogre. I need those saving throws! Kriv's especially. If he fails, he's down. If he succeeds, he's at 1 HP. Chandan wouldn't go down from the Fireball either way so his damage to the ogre sticks. After Davroar attempts his saving throw, he can act.

Kriv

The Dragonborn didn't even flinch at the fiery explosion, shrugging it off with insouciant ease. He was still thoroughly battered from going toe to toe with the massive brutes, but the trail of ogre bodies in his wake told its own tale as to who came off worst there.

Kriv Dex save (Damage resistance fire)

Davroar

He covers his snout and eyes with his paws and luckily manages to avoid the worst of the explosion. Looking up he finds only one ogre still alive, so Davroar will let out a growl and move up to attack it.

Chandan

With the crashing of waves and of ogres, Chandan doesn't even realise what the flash signifies. He's rocked by the fireball, though the pain has yet to register.

Now aware of the threat below and as they recover from the fireball, the heroes saw glimpses of the lake in the afterglow of the blast. There is movement there. But now it is dark again. Until light is shed over the lake, or someone able to see through darkness looks, the only foe that they see is one badly wounded but frenzied ogre.

Kriv

The Dragonborn slammed his maul terminally into the last ogre and left it there, rapidly unslinging his practically-unused longbow and letting off an opportunistic snapshot at where the fireball flash had indicated movement.

Kriv finishes off the last ogre with dragonborn fury and quickly moves towards the ledge to see if he can spot guess the spot where the fireball came from. He didn't have time to pick up the torch that he had to drop so he's fires blindly into the darkness. Instead of hearing the sound of an arrow hitting water or rock, he hears a groan as the arrow found it's mark.

OOC: Kriv needs to move to the ledge to do that, but he can. I moved him for you. And it was a hit on the drow.

Jaliera and Whisper go.

I'll let our recovering Gypsy take it from here. Lumi is on deck.

Jaliera

She sees Kriv run forward and had seen the fireball much closer than she would have liked. That means the drow is close. She gathers her courage praying that the drow is out of fireballs, her stomach churning with the thought of that fire.

**Whisper, to the cavern ahead. Need to find the drow!**

She can use Whisper's eyes at least until light can be established. Her bow still at the ready she runs forward to join Kriv on the ledge.

Jaliera sends the telepathic message to Whisper who starts to fly over the cliff towards the dark lake. As the owl flies, Jaliera's stands fixed, bow in hand, knowing she cannot use it. Her eyes, wide open, have lost all color. Two milky white orbs gaze forward, seeing absolutely nothing in front of them, Jaliera only sees and hears what Whisper sees and hears.

There is a very narrow beach below and an island not far away. The drow is sitting atop a makeshift raft, it is a slab of wood, a table top, from the chamber where they had found the forge of spells. They had used that slab of wood as part of a barricade a while ago. Who would have thought that that workbench would have so many uses! In front of the raft, in the water, is a blue-tinted humanoid, obviously aquatic in nature. Ropes are attached to a makeshift harness and it is waiting beginning to pull the raft into the darkness. The way that they are set up, when that next large wave comes, they'll be pulled deep into the lake by the ebb.

OOC: Seeing through Whisper's eyes is a full action for Jaliera. During this time, as the description says, she is blind and deaf. The drow, and whatever he's doing. The wave comes at the end of each round.

Luminmorn goes next. Then Ryssa and finally Bern.

Luminmorn

He stomped forward his tongue flicking out to assent the air. He couldn't see his target, but he felt like it was a worthwhile thing to try and toss some light down there. He didn't expect to hit, but maybe the green light of his blast would offer some insight to what is down there.

Yes, Lumi misses but as people move up, there's some torchlight. Nezznar, the Black Spider, is still visible in the dim light of your torches. That won't last long. Ryssa goes.

She cannot do anything but relay what Whisper can see.

"He's on a raft, about to get away. Need to stop the raft!"
