"I won't believe he's dead until I see it," commented the Dragonborn drily as the darkness descended. He'd already been planning on moving up to help Jaliera, the impenetrable gloom notwithstanding, tasting the air for the funk of bugbear as he drew near.

A blinded creature can't see and automatically fails any ability check that requires sight. Atlack rolls against the creature have advantage, and the creature's atlack ralls have disadvantage.
Same for Lumi and Jaliera.
I'll take care of moving your token.

Color Spray will not work inside Magical Darkness. It cannot overcome the Darkness and thus no one can see it to be affected by it. It can work if you cast it somewhere outside the AOE of the Darkness. I am not looking at the map so if Jaliera is not within the Darkness then you can use it, but if you cast it into the Darkness it will simply be consumed. | | | | Joined: May 2000 Posts: 76,500 Likes: 57 Wizop Administrator | Wizop Administrator Joined: May 2000 Posts: 76,500 Likes: 57 | [OOC Drat! Darkness consumes all light, including spells, that are not of higher level than it is. It is no longer one Darkness is cancelled by one Light spell like it used to be in older versions. It takes at least a 3rd level Light type spell, Dispel Magic, etc, to cancel it.

It requires a spell that emits light of 3rd level or higher to overcome. Ryssa's weapon is a special case. I wasn't sure so I went to the ultimate resource of all D&D 5e rules - Jeremy Crawford. So, I rule "Yes" your mace can overcome the darkness but only within the darkness. The mace is emitting magical light and so, when you personally enter the magical darkness, it'll illuminate the dark areas. However, it does not dispel it. The darkness spell is still in effect, just overridden. And this is only on your turn.

The Dragonborn advanced into the darkness on memory, sniffed, pivoted, and smashed his maul repeatedly into where he detected the reek of mammalian fur and sweat.

His maul comes down between Jaliera and Luminmorn and strikes the bugbear hard. While the dragonborn doesn't see the damage, he knows, by how solidly the weapon head lands, that the blow is true. He repeats that attack and once again the weapon finds the target and nearly kills the bugbear.

He would have fired at where the they 'had' been. All bunched up like they were, there was a decent chance to hit one of them. But too many of his companions had charged into the darkness. So there wasn't much he could do to all the 'targets' in the darkness and he didn't see any left out in the light. He waited, ready to fire when the darkness was overcome.

Jaliera hears someone drop. It must've been from her spell, but she thinks it only affected one target. She had done her best to avoid allies but without vision, there was no way to tell.

Back in his giant spider form he will climb to the ceiling and will silently creep forward trusting his better night vision will show him a target to shoot his web at.

Well she seems to have done something. It may have been one of her group, possibly Chandan, but that may make him safer and less of a target. She can only hope so. She tests her other senses, wondering if she can smell them.. and draws her sword, more as a defensive move. | | | | Joined: Oct 2001 Posts: 22,137 Likes: 8 (Buffalo) Moderator | (Buffalo) Moderator Joined: Oct 2001 Posts: 22,137 Likes: 8 | (OOC - Dugan - Darkvision cannot penetrate Magical Darkness, only natural darkness. Also, the darkness extends to the ceiling 2) Everyone inside the darkness cannot see and are operating under the same constraints, including the caster:
A blinded creature can't see and automatically fails any ability check that requires sight. Attack rolls against the creature have advantage, and the creature's atlack ralls have disadvantage.
Davroar's Blindsight, when in spider form, would work for 10'r. However, you can transform twice between short rests. Do you still have one in your pocket? I checked, this would be your 1st since the last short rest.
