OK, moving ahead. I have placed everyone on Roll20 in single file in the corridor (it is narrow, rugged, and only 4 feet tall, so anyone taller than that is crouching). It looks like a dry, underground, streambed. I placed Kriv and Lumi in front.
I will give you till tomorrow to tell me if you want to change the marching order or are doing anything in preparation before moving to the end of the corridor, next to the chasm where Whisper saw the bugbears earlier.
Note that as you are carrying light sources it is impossible for you to gain surprise as the light announces your coming to all and sundry. Therefore once you move to the end of the corridor we will roll for Initiative.
[[ I am OK being rear guard. But if the group wants me at the vanguard, I am OK with that too <g> And, FWIW, we all have been to the 'edge' and had seen what is below. It is why ... 'we' ... decided to build the barricade before we initiated with 'them' <g> ]]
(OOC - I put Bern in the back because you like to use his bow. Also, Whisper saw what was below 30+ minutes ago, before you built a barricade. Besides which, the dungeon is not a static place. )
OK, since there are no objections, moving on.......
The height of the passage you are navigating varies, and is barely four feet high at most. It is obstructed by rounded boulders and pebbles all along it's route. It might have been an underground streambed, though no water flows through it now. As you approach the end of the passage, you recall what Jaliera said Whisper had seen and you are alert for trouble.
At the end of the passage, it opens into a cavern. A wide rift fills the eastern half of the cavern. You can hear the sounds of a stream pouring out to the west, which then tumbles down into the rift and sounds as if it flows out again to the north. Several ropes are secured to iron stakes along the western edge of the rift, leading down to the chasm floor.
The soft sounds of talk and rocks hitting rocks ceases as you approach the end of the tunnel with your lights. With the lights offered by Kriv, Bern and Lumi, you can see two Bugbears on the opposite side of the rift hefting Javelins. The far side of the cavern and the depths of the rift are shrouded in darkness outside the circles of light.
OK, everyone, spin for Initiative. Since you spent so much time preparing I will not have the two Bugbears you see gain surprise.
Thanks, Neil........ So we can begin with Bern, Kriv, and Chandan's actions. Guys? Remember, you are approaching a chasm. You can see across to the other side as far as your light reaches, but to see into the chasm you have to move right up to the edge, shine your light and look down.
(OOC - It's a single file corridor, and Kriv and Lumi are already near the edge. You can fire thru allies so you don't have to move, but if you want to move up to the edge of the chasm please move Bern in Roll20)
YOU haven't seen anything before. Whisper scouted and saw stuff that only a creature with darkvision can see, and that was 30+ minutes ago.
You can only see what your party's light reveals, and that is what is shown on the map. Until someone with a light crosses the chasm, creates a Light on the other side, uses a light to look down below, or Jaliera uses an action to look thru Whisper's eyes, everything you can see is shown.
From where Bern is standing, at the rear of the group, he can only see the two Bugbears on the opposite side. Your light only reaches 20 feet for normal lighting and 20 more feet for dim lighting from where Lumi and Kriv are shown on the map. Lumi is near the front edge of the end of the corridor where the chasm begins.
[ooc: I know its not Davroar's turn yet, but his intention will be to cast Flame Sphere on the southern bugbear. That will provide 20' of light on the opposite side. ]
