They could chase after all the 'bad things' in the world and never make much of a difference. All =he= wanted to do was address the problems that were foolish enough to get in his face. And that was happening here. So they were of like mind ... for now.
"Lets get back to the issue at hand", he said as he move to the end of a table.
[ooc: Where are you placing the blockade? You'll notice a table token on the map. I gave all of you access to it. Place it in the spot on the map that makes sense to you. Also, describe, in character, how exactly you're planning to put it together.]
[[ unless someone has an objection ... I have set the 'blockade' where I think it will do the most good. But it would not take much to convince me that it should be closer to the 'action' <g> ]]
OOC: No worries, we'll assume that someone provided light for the blockade building. Remember that it's dark down here. Every critter, living or undead, that you've seen here, has darkvision.
[ooc: Initially I was thinking of setting the blockade at the top of the stairs, but MikeD has the better idea of having it closer. Looking at the spacing around the squares I just moved it on the map one square up and left. If we turn the table on its end and grab some rocks from the rubble to weigh down the legs and build a low rock wall behind the table should be enough in my opinion so that it just can't be easily pulled aside by any enemy charge. ]
DM With a concerted team effort the heroes are able to effectively create a temporary barricade, strong enough to block any would-be assailants. It took the team some time to construct it and, likewise, it would take time to break through it.
So I've read back several dozen pages in the thread and I've looked at the Roll20 map and I have a few questions:
1 - What does HDU in the status block stand for (Healing Dice Used?) 1A - I also saw a discussion of spells used, and noted that you still have quite a lot left. I may add a column showing spells used (not counting cantrips) so we don't have to scroll back dozens of pages to do another inventory. 2 - I saw Ryssa took the new magical mace and Kriv has the Breastplate. Have you adjusted your pc's attack/defense info to account for the new items? 3 - I saw you were building the blockade in the corridor that heads west out of the northeast cavern with the waves (where Bern and Davroar are on the map)? This puts the blockade between you and the Bugbear/Drow you saw, correct? 4 - Everyone is split up very far apart (180 feet apart, around corners, in different caverns on different levels in some cases). Are you staying there or moving back together? If you are moving back together, please move your tokens on the Roll20 map. 5 - Most importantly, where are you going next? As Neptune pointed out with his larger map you have cut a long, yet narrow, swath thru the caves, leaving a lot of unexplored corridors and rooms. So, where to? You can presume you have never reached a dead end, so which way?
Lots of us also have 'magical weapons' from when we dipped weapons and ammo in the green flames. For example Bern did his arrows. According to Nep, that +1 will last to the end of the mod.
Yes the blockade is where Dav and Bern are on the map. But the goal for it was to offer some 'rear guard' security once we 'start in' on the foes across the 'gorge' at the west end of the tunnel we are in now.
Some are not quite so 'comfortable' with the roll 20 map <g> We all would have been there 'building' our blockade.
As I mentioned above, we have been getting ready to take on the gob or hobs down across the gorge at the west end of the tunnel we are now in.
If anyone thinks I got any of that wrong (a distinct possibility) or has more to add, speak up <g>
[OOC: Ryssa's attack and damage stats have been adjusted (I think correctly) to allow for her magic mace. She should be with the others. I'll look to see if her token needs to be moved.]
OK, got it, thanks. Can each of the spellcasters remind me how many spell slots they have used (not counting cantrips)? I will add a column to the stat block.
Just give me your total # of spell slots (no need to divide it by level, just "I have 4 1sts + 3 2nds + 2 3rds = 9 spells and I've used 3", for example. For any Warlocks, I'll need how many slots you get in total since it's not by level and how many you've used since your last short rest (since you get them all back every short rest). As you've just taken a short rest we'll assume any Warlocks are at full spell slots.
If everyone agrees with MikeD's summary of next steps, move your token to the left of the blockade inside the corridor and we'll proceed.
(Neil - I was asking how many he has in total. No issue. I've gone ahead and done my own inventory. Here is an updated list. Note, Ryssa has 1 spell left for today by my calculations. Davroar still has several but with the Paladin's Lay on Hands also expended, Davroar may have to be more of a healer moving forward.)
[OOC Correct for Jaliera. Also added the scroll from the Forge less the Find Familar which she cast to get Whisper back. Away now until Friday. Plans to use her bow from the ledge in the next fight. ]
