"Out of action," he says to Jaliera, "but if your mentor is right, it will rise again unless we seal its doom with holy water, dispel magic or remove curse."
Chandan shakes his head sadly, saying "A shame Karok is not here." then looks around for Ryssa.
"Once again we must call upon you, young lady. It is fortunate you brought holy water into this dungeon."
The cleric of Lathander smiled briefly and moved to the spot where the immolated skull lies on the ground. Pulling a small flask of holy water from her pouch, she murmured a prayer to the Morninglord and then poured the blessed water on the flame skull.
DM The holy liquid sizzled as it struck the shattered skull. When the entire flask was emptied, the skull melted away and then evaporated in a hot green mist that dissipated quickly.
While Ryssa was disposing of the skule, Davroar, in giant spider form, proceeded to the end of the rooms to see clearly what lays beyond. He heads to the west first and sees that there's a door at the end of it. There are two passages in the east. The one further south is a corridor that turns further south. The one north of it is a continuation of the channel that intersects this cavern. When Davroar reaches it, the persistent booming sound that has been with the party this entire time gets louder and more distinct. At the other end of the channel, to the north, the passage turns west and Davroar sees that it ends in what appears to be a chasm or rift. It's difficult to tell more without approaching.
OOC: Match keywords on the map. Hectic weekend ahead. Seeing Steely Dan and the Doobie Brothers with Zeim on Saturday and then my FTF players get to meet Tiamat on Sunday
With the zombies coming from the northern passage, he figures that they either just stood at the edge of the rift or else it is not very deep to allow them to climb back up when Ryssa's spell wore off. The booming sound can only mean activity of some type and most likely where the forge is. Still up on the ceilng he will move closer to the eastern passage to see if he can hear anything else.
A good question. He ponders their options, which route to take. There are only two, unless counting following the trough. That will should lead to a water source at one end and a drain at the other. Not really what they're after; this isn't a survey, it's a rescue mission.
"So far we have followed corridors, and left closed doors shut." Chandan says to his companions.
How has the strategy worked? They've made progress, in roughly the same direction. They have discovered a derelict forge but no dwarf so far. Nor have they met the Spider, though they did run into some of its bugbear minions.
The dishevelled monk nods to himself.
"Let us continue with this strategy." He says, leading the way along the corridor to the east.
He attempts to wave back to Jaliera, but being a spider it looks like he is just pawing at the air. Still he is glad she is all right as he sticks to the ceiling and moves forward with Chandan.
She smiles as Davroar waves one of his eight legs in her direction.
She moves towards where Chandan is heading but waits for the rest to regroup. She expects Bern to take rear guard and will join him there, their bows being useful in guarding the rear. However she does have an offer to make to Chandan.
"Chandan, if you see anything that might be a trap, or come across any doors, or need a sneaky forward scout, pass the word back and I'll come up front to check."
OOC: Perfect Neil. Please, the rest of you, move your tokens on Roll20. If you want to see more, you'll need to enter.I am using the light sources around the light-bearers to guide how much I reveal. I moved Luminmorn to illuminate the attached map. (I mean with a name like Luminmorn!)
DM The party moves through the eastern passageway until it opens into another cavern. What is unusual in this cavern is that there is a wall of hewn stonework facing the opening that the team is entering from. It looks like someone may have built a room in this cavern. You have not entered deep enough into the cavern yet to see the entirety of it but you do see a set of doors on the wall facing you.
DM With the party now together in the corridor, additional movement is needed.
ooc: I moved Jaliera as well as Lumi. It doesn't quite matter, I just wanted to keep you all somewhat together. You'll all need to tell me how you're proceeding.
DM The party stands at the threshold of a new area. Up above most is Davroar, in spider form. Somehow, as he moves carefully, he lucks upon a loose stone on the ceiling. It falls to the ground and bounces around for a moment. The sound echoes loudly, sure to alert anyone that is in hearing distance. It's the party's move.
He rolls all eight of his eyes at his clumsiness, but will remain still while looking to see if anything happens, ready to duck back into the passage if anything rushes at him.
