She smiles at Ryssa who is always looking after all of them.
"Sounds like a plan."
She grins.
"So happy we met up with you guys. Feels like we have been together much longer."
She still misses some of their old friends, Kallista, Karok but it is good to have new ones. Hopefully together they can finish their quest to aid Gundren and help to make this area of the world a bit safer for the folks that live here. There is a concern though that is looming closer, when they finish will she still be able to see Davroar? That part of her future is much more uncertain but they still have a job to do now and so she pushes that thought away until a later time. | | | | Joined: May 2000 Posts: 17,973 Likes: 1 Moderator | OP Moderator Joined: May 2000 Posts: 17,973 Likes: 1 | DM As soon as the last member of the party recovers from the ghoulish paralysis, they move to the nearby abandoned chamber and secure it. Davroar lays out webbing to deter any monsters and they secure the door well. And they rest.
Long or short rest? Depending on which way you go and if you end up missing a few rooms, you've got about 10-15 rooms to go before we're done.
Gypsy, through Jaliera, asked a good question, "What's next?" I've been thinking about that and when I see Zeim in the next few weeks we'll chat about it.
We haven't heard from Pandemonium for a few weeks now. I'm hoping he's alright. Until then I'll be ghosting for Lumi.

If that's what it takes to regain their healing abilities, I think the PCs would do it, otherwise they'll have no way to heal the dwarf if/when they find him.]

A character can spend one or more Hit Dice at the end of a short rest, up to the character’s maximum number of Hit Dice, which is equal to the character’s level. For each Hit Die spent in this way, the player rolls the die and adds the character’s Constitution modifier to it. The character regains hit points equal to the total. The player can decide to spend an additional Hit Die after each roll. A character regains some spent Hit Dice upon finishing a long rest, as explained below.
Long Rest A long rest is a period of extended downtime, at least 8 hours long, during which a character sleeps or performs light activity: reading, talking, eating, or standing watch for no more than 2 hours. If the rest is interrupted by a period of strenuous activity—at least 1 hour of walking, fighting, casting Spells, or similar adventuring activity—the characters must begin the rest again to gain any benefit from it.
At the end of a long rest, a character regains all lost hit points. The character also regains spent Hit Dice, up to a number of dice equal to half of the character’s total number of them (minimum of one die). For example, if a character has eight Hit Dice, he or she can regain four spent Hit Dice upon finishing a long rest.
A character can’t benefit from more than one long rest in a 24-hour period, and a character must have at least 1 hit point at the start of the rest to gain its benefits.

OOC: You might as well use some of those hit-dice to heal. Just keep track. When you are ready, tell me which way you go and if you are holding on to any of that damage. | | | | Joined: May 2000 Posts: 42,121 Likes: 5 Member | Member Joined: May 2000 Posts: 42,121 Likes: 5 | Bern healing w/ right die MikeD rolled d10+3 and got 10

Returning to his human form to rest for about an hour and have something to ear he will sit with Jaliera and offers his help, "Jaliera, when we get back to Phandalin I could start asking the animals to locate where Whisper lived and see if she had a mate. She must have lived close to the orchard there. If there is we can talk to him if you like."
If Jaliera can not re-summon Whisper, Davroar would like to try and help her find some closure.

She turns to Davroar, her eyes moist but a smile on her face.
"That is such a nice idea Davroar."
She nods her agreement, thinking how thoughtful he is and how much he seems to understand her.. and then her thoughts turn back to the future and she decides to give voice to her fears. Maybe he'll have ideas there too.
"I've been thinking about when this is all over. I am on a promise to return to my mentor to continue to work for him. I need to repay the training and the help he has given me."
She swallows.
"But that is in the city.. and I know cities are not a druid's domain. My work for my mentor is likely to be finding places in the wilderness and recovering artefacts for him but not all of the time. The thing is.."
She blushes.

The Find Familiar spell is different than in previous editions (Gypsy knows this):
You gain the service of a familiar, a spirit that takes an animal form you choose: bat, cat, crab, frog (toad), hawk, Lizard, Octopus, owl, Poisonous Snake, fish (quipper), rat, raven, Sea Horse, Spider, or Weasel. Appearing in an unoccupied space within range, the familiar has the Statistics of the chosen form, though it is a celestial, fey, or fiend (your choice) instead of a beast.
So looking in the woods won't really work. All she needs is another spell scroll. Having no personal wounds, herself, the cleric moved among the others, cleaning and binding wounds where necessary, wishing there was more she could do.
Finally, she found a place to rest and perform a brief version of her devotions to Lathander before taking a nap. | | | | Joined: Jun 2002 Posts: 10,293 Administrator | Administrator Joined: Jun 2002 Posts: 10,293 | DavroarHe had not given much thought to the future, and is rather just enjoying the present with her. Knowing now that Jaliera will be returning to the city after this, he thinks that perhaps they can come to a compromise and asks in a thicker voice than he expected, "Phandalin is nice area and not too far from the big city. For how long do you need to work for him?" [ooc: Neptune I was lead to believe differently on Whispers origins based from your original post in "N-3.0 Where to Next" on 16/01/16: ] It was just after sunset. The incense and herbs that burned over red hot charcoal in the small brass brazier gave rise to a pungent plume of smoke that twisted up towards the cresent moon. The air around her tingled every so often as she concentrated on keeping the fire going. The scent reached an owl that had made its lair in the orchard. Almost immediately the young rogue felt the connection with the bird. And good pick up Dugan! ] JalieraShe shakes her head, worried but hopeful. "I don't know. I was young and in a bit of a spot." She takes a deep breath, willing to share this with Davroar but not finding the words easy. "Some years ago we were caught in a fire. My parents died but a man managed to rescue me through a tiny window.." Her voice catches as her memories flood back. "He took me to the Thieves Guild and they tried to train me. Trouble was I didn't want to do the things they kept asking me to do and so I kept failing. They weren't at all happy with me.." She pauses but doesn't elaborate. "Trouble is I had no where to go, knew no-one as we had only just moved here when the fire happened. Anyway somehow my mentor did a deal with the Guild, took me in with a few other youngsters and he gave us food and shelter and taught us much. He's a mage and a scholar but advanced in his years and the idea is that we recover artefacts and spell components and the like for him to keep him in his old age. I was just so pleased to be away from the Guild that I saw it as a good opportunity.. but we never discussed how long it was to last. I guess that was a bit naive of me." | | | | Joined: May 2000 Posts: 27,612 Moderator | Moderator Joined: May 2000 Posts: 27,612 | Kriv
The Dragonborn meticulously tended to his injuries, adjusting displaced scales, applying a little cantrip cautery to his fire-resistant flesh to harmlessly burn away any chance of infection.

Listening to Jaliera, he can not imagine growing up so young without family, or in his terms, clansmen of her tribe. He does understand obligations and probably oaths she made to her mentor, so he quietly replies, "You're the strongest woman I know. Stronger than the child that was you when your mentor took you in. Where I am from, a single man, a single woman, rarely survives on their own for long. You did what you did to survive."
He reaches out to hold her hand and says, "I would like to help you with the jobs, if I can, and if you want me to."
He knows the cities will be a challenge to live in. Perhaps staying on the outskirts of it. Even so, when he stayed at the much more rural town of Phandalin, he would rather hunt throughout the night as a wolf or bear. Perhaps between jobs they can take small trips out to the country. It might work out, and Davroar is willing to try.
"And each time you do a job for your mentor, you ask him directly 'Am I done?' The day that he says yes, will you travel with me, to enjoy our natural world?"
