Picking his torch back up, he moved out of the way and waited for the others. 23 not sure a crit matters.

I don't see tool marks, barrow tracks ... at least up here ... to suggest anyone was working the area. That means we should be especially careful of where we walk, what we lean against. As this ... 'opening' suggests, the area may not be particularly stable. And I would rather that the 'monsters' would prefer the taste of 'lacky' to adventurer."

Managing to get down safely using the rope he replies to Chandan, "Speaking of spiders, if we're going to be ending up going up and down a lot in here, I just might take the form of one."
Those dead giant spiders he saw back in Thundertree would probably offer a better chance of him surviving down here rather than relying on his not-so-great human strength.

8 points falling damage. Kriv needed an adjusted 10 to climb down.

It was too late for Whisper to avoid it when she saw the threat. Hanging to the ceiling of this area were slimy winged creatures with sharp, mosquito-like proboscis's. Two of the stirges were upon the owl before she could react. Both tried to skewer Whisper but they both miss. Of course, Jaliera sees all this through Whisper's eyes. There are dozens of these beasts and they are making a bee-line for their prey.

She needs to roll initiative - as well as everyone else.
Ryssa cannot just help Kriv. You first have to make successful strength roll to climb down. And it will take more than a full round (20 feet, but movement rate is half, ie: difficult terrain).
Only Chandan, Kriv and Davroar are down in the pit. So the initiative roll does not mean you made it there to help Whisper. From this moment on, you are where you are on the map.
