He chuckled at Kriv's 'reaction'. "You are =so= sensitive", he said as he bent to search the body of the doppelganger. "There are too many ways into this place ... as we discovered. What we need is a defensible position ... like that room where we killed their caster."

DM

Bern quickly searches the Doppelganger and finds a soft leather case in a pouch it wears.

Gundren continues to frantically search the room, even looking in places he's already looked. "We can't leave without the map! I can't let others find it."

However at the news that a large group of enemies approaches, he looks more fearful, clearly preferring flight to fight.

Chandan

He thanks Davroar and Jaliera for coming after him, and the healers for their part in keeping him alive too.

But Gundren's frantic efforts soon draw him in, and after stretching the small of his back, Chandan joins in the search.

"Maybe next time you find secret magic cave, you keep it secret." He suggests to the dwarf, "And maybe not draw a map."

At some point, when they're away from this castle and enjoying a revitalising drink in tavern, he can finally rejoice that they've saved Good Ole Gundren. For now, that seems some way off.

"We fight then!" He says over his shoulder to his friends.

[Searching the big black block. Rolled 20 total. Go Chandan!!]

DM

(OOC - You have searched everywhere in the bedroom and found what there is to be found. The only places you have not looked yet are in the Northwest section of the castle (the area should still be greyed out.)

As you talk and search a loud voice comes from outside. Jaliera, via Whisper, can see that it is the large Hobgoblin who killed Grol. He is on the edge of the woods, along with 3 other Hobgoblins, 2 Wolves, and 3 Goblins.

"Youse. In da Castle." The voice yells in extremely poor common.

<Bern>

So much for 'rallying the troops', he thought. It was too late for setting up defenses and the like now that the hob was announcing his presence. Clearly there were going to be 'remedial' lessons on tactics ... if they survived.

With a sigh, he took his bow and prepared to fire north or south ... as needed.

Ryssa


Out of healing spells, Ryssa decides to do her best to protect Gundren and stays alongside the dwarf.

Kriv

Someone needed to reply to the hostiles outside, if only to buy time. He positioned himself in the direction the voice had come from and replied,

"You. In the killing zones around the castle, in bowshot range."

Davroar

Remaining in his dire wolf form he will stand guard beside Jaliera while she remains connected to Whisper.

Jaliera

"It is the new leader speaking. He's with 3 other hobgoblins, 2 wolves and 3 goblins.. but I bet the other goblins are trying to sneak in from the other side and catch us unawares."

She sounds worried.

"Let's move into a room and set an ambush!"

He moved a bit, so he could also cover the east ... the way they had come in ... as well as north and south.

DM

Jaliera, still observing via Whisper can see the Hobgoblin looks confused at Kriv's reply. Most likely his understanding of common doesn't cover more than basic terms. He turns to those with him, but they only give him blank looks.

He shrugs and pushes on. "I Targor. King o' Cragmar! You'se done I favor. Grol weakling. You'se helps me kills him. You'se leaves now I lets you go."

Whisper tells Jaliera that she can see & hear movement in the woods all around the castle now, so clearly the enemies now surround the place.

Jaliera

"It's a trap! Tell him to call all his goblins out of hiding first."

Kriv

With a sigh, the Dragonborn tried to downshift his language to match the understanding of the Hobgoblin.

"You words not same as what you people do now. You people sneak around castle. You people hide. You people wait to kill us when we go. Tell you people stop hide."

Glancing back to the others and lowering his voice,

"I don't suppose anyone here speaks their debased tongue, do they? Might have better luck in its native language."

<Bern>

He was curious where the 'negotiations' would lead, but did not expect 'them' to be negotiating in good faith, so he continued his vigilance of the three entry points he could see.

Targor

"Peoples careful. Peoples watch. Make sure youse leaves."

He turns to the Goblins next to him and says something in a language you don't understand. Two of the Goblins run off and after a minute or two Whisper says that she can see movement in the woods with several creatures moving away from the area near the front doors.

"Theres. Path free. Leave. Youse no want to die. Enoughs my people dead today. Go."

Luminmorn

"I suggest we take him at his word and go. We have Gundren, that is why we came." With that he applies healing to himself, sufficing his form with a golden glow, and his wounds closing.

Heal 10 with lay on hands, if I have my numbers correct.
That leaves 5 for 1 pt heals to stabilize. If we are going into combat, we need them.

(OOC - Before you decide to go or not, is anyone looking in the Northwest area you haven't entered yet? Presuming you don't get into a fight in those rooms, there is enough time to search it whether you choose to leave or to stay and fight.)

He took advantage of the lull in the 'activity' to look in the valise he had found earlier. It couldn't hurt ... at least he hoped not ... and might help.

[Zeim, I think that's the big black block I was referring too above. The unrevealed area in King Grol's room. Chandan rolled 20 total for Perception.]

[OOC: I'm away from DL now. Jaliera will continue her watch over via Whisper for as long as needed. Leaving without a fight would be her preferred option but she does still have her spells if it comes to that. Good luck all! ]
