Kriv

The Dragonborn had been sliced numerous times going through the barrier: Blood dripped from his scales in an uncomfortable number of places. He answered,

"Don't have eyes on them yet, but didn't hear the door close or see the other curtain move."

He didn't explicitly say how badly hurt he was, with hostile ears listening in, but he met the human's gaze and was silent enough for the sound of crimson drops hitting the floor to be heard.

Jaliera

She nods to Davroar with a quick smile before running off and retracing her steps. She knows she left the corridor door open into Chandan's room so she doesn't have to go into the room to ready a shot.

She also instructs Whisper to go to the back of the room Davroar and the others are in, so her friend can keep an eye on the others. Whisper and her make a great partnership doing this over-watch and she send warm thoughts to the little owl.

Reaching the spot where she can see through the open door, she hides if she can but also readies a shot for the first enemy through the door.

Ryssa examines the brazier more closely, and can see that while it is filled with old, burned, charcoal, the metallic glint she saw appears to be gold. Without brushing away the coal or reaching into the brazier to remove the gold item she can't tell any more about it.

Luminmorn and Jaliera run back towards Chandan, to try to help the Monk with whatever might emerge from the room he is guarding. Jaliera looks for a place to hide and readies an action to fire at the first foe she can see.

Davroar follows Bern towards the room where Kriv went, asking the Dragonborn what is in there. Both Bern and Davroar can see the area filled with spinning daggers that covers the area right behind the curtain on the other side of the room (otherwise see the description of the room given earlier).

In the room where Kriv searches for the hidden Shaman, he pops up from the opposite side of the Altar and points his finger at Kriv. A sickly looking ray of black energy shoots towards Kriv, but misses him. The Shaman ducks back down, attempting to hide again, but all can see him at this time.

Meanwhile, back near Chandan, the door bursts open, splinters flying as it hangs off it's hinges. Chandan can see 2 Hobgoblins and a large Wolf in front of the door.

(Neal - On your turn, I will give you a surprise attack against any of those 3 you want. Basically attack w/Advantage. None of them can attack this round as they used their actions to bash the door down.)

As the door collapses, Jaliera can also see the Hobgoblins and Wolf and she fires at the first target she can see, but her arrow flies wide.)

A moment later, 2 other Hobgoblins come running around the corner from the north, crossing some rubble there (difficult terrain). They rush towards Jaliera, and her heart pounds as the two longsword wielding monsters run towards her, but as they approach it becomes clear they don't spot her (Jaliera's Hide roll just squeaked by).

Both Jaliera and Chandan can see into the room beyond the door, and they can make out a large Bugbear wearing a dented crown on his head. He holds a large, spiked club in one hand. In his other hand he holds an unconscious dwarf by the scruff of the neck.

"I know your kind care about scum like this! Drop your weapons or I will kill him!" He shouts in the direction of Chandan. Jaliera (Hidden) and Luminmorn (out of LOS) can also hear this. The rest of the party cannot.

Chandan and Kriv can go. Others please wait.

Kriv

With their enemy exposed, Kriv dropped the staff, advanced to position himself to cut off any avenue of retreat, and introduced the verminous perverter of the art to the business end of his maul at speed.

He recalled his staff in case of any counterstrike.

Jaiera

Heart beating fast, she doesn't move wanting to stay hidden but they need help here.

She sends a mental command to Whisper.

Chandan

"That dwarf is no Redbrand, and you are no king, just another another pawn like Iarno!" Scoffs Chandan, plunging his spear into the wolf.

[Two hits for 17 damage total]

DM

The Shaman's eyes widen as he sees the Dragonborn step directly at him and he squeaks a moment later as the large maul strikes him.

Across the space, several rooms away, Chandan stabs at the large Wolf, and it whines as the spear digs deeply into it's flank.

Bern, Luminmorn, Davroar, Ryssa, and Jaliera can go (Note: Jaliera's instruction to Whisper won't happen until her turn so when Davroar goes he is still unaware of being requested to come.)

With a smile at Kriv's success and Davroar still there to support Kriv, he heads back the way they had come. The others are probably more in need of support.

Case in point, Jaliera. He raised his bow and fired.

(OOC - MikeD - The diagonal is not the problem. The problem is you moved through a solid wall (rubble, but solid). I placed you as far as you could move. You still have LOS from there.

Note for all: The only exit out of that room is the door in the far southeast.)

[[ sorry ... so tough to tell what 'rubble' is just 'difficult terrain' and what is 'solid' <sigh> not sure what to suggest :-/ but love the maps anyway <g> ]]

Ryssa


A fleeting thought about her wounded companions troubled Ryssa - she felt guilty that she was not currently able to tend to their hurts but, for the moment, the glint of gold in the brazier intrigued her.

She stepped up to the brazier and lightly brushed at the accumulated ashes and grime with her dagger, just enough to get a better look at what was partially concealed there. If there was no ill effect from this move, she would attempt to completely uncover the shiny object and examine it.

Luminmorn

He moved forward and realizing the monk was blocking the door, he turned to his newly acquired powers. His patron had blessed him with an Eldritch Blast. He threw a greenish orb at one of the hob goblins only to see it fly wide.

(OOC - Pande - It won't give you a hit, but don't forget that you get your Spellcasting Stat Bonus (CHA=+3) AND your Proficiency Bonus (+2) to your Warlock Spell attacks. So all your spell attacks are 1d20+5.)

Davroar

While Kriv says nothing about his state of health, it is quite obvious just how tough he is with so many cuts across his body. While it is a dangerous move on his part to rush past the goblin shaman, Davroar feels it is more important to keep one of their best fighters as healthy as possible as he reaches out to cast a healing spell on Kriv. At the same time he will slip one of his healing potions out of his pocket to give it to Kriv.

Jaliera

She sends her mental command to Whisper and draws her rapier. Leaping from her hiding place, she attacks the nearest hobgoblin and then attempts to hide again, feeling just a little exposed in this corridor on her own.

(OOC - Dugan - Yes, you can hand something to an adjacent companion as a free action.

Gypsy - You can't hide while you are adjacent to an enemy. You can use your bonus action to Disengage, which means moving away without giving an OA, but then you don't have another action to Hide. UNLESS you forgo your attack. Then you could use your regular action to Disengage and your Bonus action to Hide.)

[OOC Nope, the reason she attacked was to help her friends, that still stands. And hopefully reinforcements will be along before it is too late! ]

DM

Bern comes running out of the room. Pausing by the doorway, he fires two arrows at the Hobgoblins coming down from the north, and hits them both.

Luminmorn attempt to assist the monk who is blocking the doorway, but his blast of eldritch energy misses.

Davroar steps into the altar room, moving right past the Shaman and adjacent to Kriv. He touches the dragonborn and soothing healing energy passes into him. His cuts closing and blood clotting.

Ryssa looks closer into the brazier, and after testing carefully for ill effects, she brushes the charcoal away and can see revealed a small golden statuette. It depicts a Sun Elf, and is partially wrapped in a crimson cloth.

Jaliera stab one of the adjacent Hobgoblins with her rapier, stabs it thru the heart. It drops dead like a stone leaving just one to face her. However with the foe standing so close, she is unable to hide.

The spinning daggers near the doorway vanish, as the Shaman stops concentrating on them, but as he speaks words of magic they suddenly reappear, around Davroar!

At that moment, a bruised and battered looking dwarf comes running out of the shadows from the north, where the Hobgbolins came from. Following after him, sword out, is another Hobgoblin.

"Help! My friends! It is I, Gundren! Help!" Shouts the dwarf.

Perhaps it is the shouting from behind, but the Hobgoblin attacking Jaliera seems startled, and it's attack misses badly.

Back in the doorway, near Chandan, the three foes all strike at the monk. Both Hobgoblins miss, but the Wolf bites into the monk's leg (9 pts).

(OOC - Brief explanation. Hobgoblins get to add a +7 points of damage to their attack, if it hits and they have an ally within 5 feet who is not incapacitated. The Wolf get to attack with Advantage if it has an ally within 5 feet who is not incapacitated.)

Finally, King Grol growls as his threat to kill the dwarf he holds is ignored. With a grunt he smacks the dwarf on the head with his spiked club, dropping the body to the floor. He then moves off towards the northeast and disappears from your view.

Luminmorn and Chandan can see into the room beyond the foes they fight.

This chamber has been setup as a crude living space, with thick furs on the floor to serve as carpets, old trophies hanging on the walls, a large bed to the north, and a brazier of coals burning brightly. A round table with several chairs stands to the south near the door.

Chandan and Kriv (Only please) can now act.

Chandan

The monk is a whirl of motion, shambolic yet elusive, his spear seeking out the wolf once more.

[Hit once for 12 damage total]

Kriv

His hands full, the Dragonborn takes the potion in his jaws, ready to bite down if necessary. He drops the staff, swings, misses and recalls the staff.

DM

Chandan dances and twirls and stabs at the Wolf, hitting it in the neck. It gurgles and drops in a heap, dead.

Kriv attacks the Shaman, but his swing with his Maul goes wide (AJ - I moved Kriv on the map to where he could attack the Shaman. The Shaman had Disengaged from you on his turn.)

Bern, Luminmorn, Davroar, and Ryssa can now act. Jaliera please wait for the others.

He moved up to where he felt he could be more supportive. He fired at the foes.

The cleric of Lathander carefully lifted the golden statuette wrapped in crimson, glanced closely at it for a quick moment and then moved to where she could help her companions attack whatever enemies were still posing a threat.

Following the noise, Ryssa approached the curtain and carefully pulled it to one side, preparing a minor spell as she did so.

[OOC: I think I moved her to the right position. Let me know if I didn't... and let me know if she can fire a cantrip at the shaman (?)]
