Well. Looks like I'm out for the count to do much else in this one.

Umm... you can still write. the character hasn't been injured to an extent that she is physically incapacitated. well, okay... she has been injured pretty badly it seems... but she isn't unconscious. At least not to my reading. An NPC type used a special ability and that ability affects people. Maybe it is inherent in Kadri that this particular ability would affect her. Maybe she failed her HWD version of a saving throw. I don't know. I am reading it just as you are... but I see all kinds of room to write and explore this aspect. You know, get inside her head and explore who she is at the core... the kind of stuff where you can write about her childhood and just be free as a writer to explore.

The way it is written, and the stuff about being prey seems sort of like you know this aspect of kadri, or that it is built into the character. I've read it elsewhere related to Dommi too...

I think there is all kinds of room for you to write and actually explore the character... she is being affected by one of the most primal emotions we have...Fear. what does that mean to her? How does kadri deal with it... this seems like fertile ground for you, for as long as you have played this character and have had her living in your headspace...

Maybe you have a lot to write but it just isn't about combat.

I don't know, not my character, but it sounds like good stuff could come of this.

What Phoenix said! Very well put!

On the pragmatic physical side ... Kadri may also be hurt, but I specifically made sure she was still somewhat mobile.

I'm talking more about being pretty literally disarmed, not the fear thing. That doesn't bother me - just seems like physically, no use of arms is going to be rather limiting on doing much physically.

I'd say something... make a suggestion... but given that people seem to be intent on ignoring whatever I have to say...

Pffft.

Figure it out yourself. There's an answer.

hey now, everybody just take a breath... it's a game... and a fun one. so much depth in it... sure it can get deep and a little confusing and i will admit i have to read posts a bunch of times. The GM doesn't spell out the options but I have seen where he writes clues and ideas in posts and if you give it a chance to sink in and read it again after that, then things start to make sense.

this game is more than numbers on a sheet and a written up history... you need to be that person on that page. even combat requires you to role-play it out because the hidden system doesn't care a numbers based tactical system... it cares about telling a story that the GM can figure out where some numbers might go.

you get out of this game more than you put in, for all of us, but you have to put something in... Kadri is not my character and i don't know what other skills and any magic she might have... but I think there are plenty of options... just be the character and tell a story with the GM.

that's all i got

I think that is good, right? real good, as in the best. The skills are based on d100 scale and the better the skills the higher the number... so, if i were to read this in the context of my poor association with gaming systems I might say this player could sell Ice to Eskimos by convincing them the stuff they have is the wrong kind!

I don't care how good it is. I still hate dice. I despise dice. I loathe dice. I'm trying to tell a story. Dice get in the way.

grrr

Well I like dice for the randomness they bring! grin

That's an interesting observation, Gypsy, and probably explains (to some degree) why I dislike dice. My brain can get so much more random than any dice -- tangents, digressions, weird thoughts. And then dice add randomness when logic should prevail.

For instance, if you start with the premise that there are Grue (Grues?) on the northern path (something the GM knows to be true), you only need to use logic when the player says, "I go north." The logical response would be, "You have been eaten by a Grue." Sure, you could roll the dice to determine how many Grue (Grues?) there are, but what does it matter to the player when they're being eaten?

<shrug>

I've explained this to the GM so many times that I've lost count -- I'm a writer more than a roleplayer. If I need randomness*, I have Random.org give me a couple of lists of 130 integers from 1 to N**, then write my queries to grab 130 last names and 130 first names. (Exception: when I plan to kill someone, I pull a name from The List Of People To Be Eviscerated In Fiction ("The List").)

*Oh, let's say the names of all 130 engineering officers left on the original USS Eclipse after the initial attack and hull breach

**Where N = maximum number of last names in my Names database, then where N = maximum number of first names in the database

TMI? Yeah, that's part of my randomness.

You just need to get Kel a set of dice that have the same number on each face. Then she'd be comfortable smile

No, she wouldn't. Those would be classified as "clutter" and she'd throw them away.

smile

I have a set of dice. I just don't use them. I like them because they're sparkly. Dice can be sparkly; vampires can't.

actually Kelly stumbled on my dice cubes - basically a set of about 20-30 small d6 dice that fit perfectly in a clear plastic case with a perfectly fitted bottom cap.

She was entranced ... and vexed that over the years a couple had gotten lost so the case wasn't completely full.

and I found most of the missing dice plus the second still full case during the move!

Oh, yeah. Those are totes adorbs. And Super OCD Woman did not like the fact that some of them were missing. Good to know you found some of them. Not that you need more dice. The only person I've seen with a larger dice collection is Wil Wheaton. Yeesh.

a first batch of midweek posts ... and then i ran out of time! I hope to have more tomorrow if appropriate. For example, a combat heavy post (like Pietro's) may get rolled out and outlined tomorrow for the weekend's writing smile

Nope, Cesare isn't being ignored, however as Gypsy so kindly understands, he is in waiting mode, until he gets the signal to raise the gates and flood the keep.

Also, on top of everything else, not only has my schedule blown up by work but i've pulled a muscle in my shoulder which makes typing hurt - so I apologize if the posts are a bit rough.

last, anything else is called on account of dinner with Mom.

i caught some mistakes in my most recent post- apologies. as I explained to Wolf in PM- it has been a rough couple days for work and unpacking and remodeling and little time for anything else. I was not expecting this post to drop but it appears to me that the GM is trying to get things to a point where everyone can get a sunday post this week. I wrote this last night, sacrificing sleep time and looming 4am wakeup alarm. But since keiko was joining the location where Lyric was at, I wanted to set a bit more scene so her player had more to work with in terms of descriptive text.

I dropped a few words, added a few extra letters. Please forgive. I edited a couple times but my brain was just not catching everything. Not sure that it is ready for prime time even now. I will read one more time and hope for the best.
