Note that when the trigger occurs, you can't hide after your attack. You are exposed. That's because the triggered response is ONLY the attack. But yes, you can hide, ready and when the trigger occurs, strike. It's kind of backwards, but it works the same and even though you're exposed, you can hide before the goblins go so all is good.
As for rolls, you should ALWAYS roll the following:
Stealth (1d20+8) Attack (1d20+5) Base Damage (1d6+3) Sneak Damage (2d6)
That's pretty much the standard if you follow that standard procedure. You get the sneak damage if you were hidden.
BTW, in our FTF game, Lingo did over 100 pts of damage when he rolled a crit. (He's 14th level at this point in our game). My brother, who has a dragonborn paladin said "I can't EVER do that much damage" and was pretty upset that a measly halfling could do that!
Anyhow, you owe me a stealth roll and the sneak damage.

The effect of the hide is that you get to attack with advantage. 90% sure. No time to double-check in the rules.

At higher levels the rogue can use it's (by then) invisible mage hand to distract the target and grant advantage without having to hide. Played right, the rogue virtually always has advantage. Lingo 14th level has +15 stealth, +12 perception which means a 22 passive perception, that annoying mage hand thing plus a cloak of elvenkind which give him advantage on stealth rolls and give others disadvantage when trying to spot him. Oh, and he can dodge fireballs too ]] | | | | Joined: May 2000 Posts: 13,066 Likes: 9 Wobbly Headed Administrator | Wobbly Headed Administrator Joined: May 2000 Posts: 13,066 Likes: 9 | Chandan
Staggering back with a shocked expression, he glances down at the gash in his robe. So nearly a fatal blow!
His eyes narrow and he thrusts his spear low at the goblin, jumping over the haft of his own weapon to deliver a tornado kick to any goblin neck that appeared before him.
[Check out these rolls!! Spent 1 ki Chandan hits with 25, 22, 24 11, 6 and 5 damage]

Seeing that these goblins would rather duck and shoot, he will change his mind at heading for cover. Instead he will get up to a kneeling position and will then cast Flaming Sphere, positioning the bright ball of fire initially right on top of the closest long table (i.e 15' due south of Chandan's position). Hopefully this will make them run for alternate positions and give the rest of his group time to shoot at them. If any goblin wants to poke its head out to shoot at him, Davroar will plan to move the fire right into it. | | | | Joined: May 2000 Posts: 76,644 Likes: 60 Wizop Administrator | Wizop Administrator Joined: May 2000 Posts: 76,644 Likes: 60 | [OOC Very cool guys! I've been playing Jaliera as a novice adventurer, maybe a life novice too. And so she has generally had to experience these tricks before using them herself.. so thanks to the goblins! And go Chandan & Davrooar - we kick ass! ] | | | | Joined: May 2000 Posts: 17,989 Likes: 1 Moderator | Moderator Joined: May 2000 Posts: 17,989 Likes: 1 | DM
The aged monk plunges his spear into the goblin leader and when he sees that it doesn't die from the spear alone, his feet land in the fat goblin's neck and with a loud crack, Chandan breaks it's neck. A moment later a large ball of fire appears in the room on the table nearest to Davroar.
OOC: I'm struggling with the goblin's "reaction" and decided that the reaction Davroar was hoping for wouldn't be a reaction but rather an action on the goblin's round. So Jaliera goes next, followed by Bern and Luminmorn to round out the round. After they go, Ryssa and Kriv can clean up the mess before the goblins act again. | | | | Joined: May 2009 Posts: 15,108 Likes: 10 Chaotic Obfuscator Moderator | Chaotic Obfuscator Moderator Joined: May 2009 Posts: 15,108 Likes: 10 | Luminmorn
He pulled his sword and readied his shield, moving into the room. He didn't see any targets immediately, but he would toss a Eldritch blast at one if he couldn't get to it and strike it. It was time for hand to hand.
[OOC: Don't see a target for him to strike, so didn't make any rolls. Let me know if his movement changes what he can see.] | | | | Joined: May 2000 Posts: 17,989 Likes: 1 Moderator | Moderator Joined: May 2000 Posts: 17,989 Likes: 1 | Dugan - I created a token flaming sphere for you, gave you access to move it around and placed it on the table. If you disagree with the placement, feel free to move it.
Pandemonium - That's fine. He moved and readied an attack. He'll have his chance to roll those dice soon! | | | | Joined: May 2000 Posts: 42,142 Likes: 5 Member | Member Joined: May 2000 Posts: 42,142 Likes: 5 | [[ does Bern have a line of sight on G13? ]]

Any creature that ends its turn within 5 feet of the sphere must make a Dexterity saving throw. The creature takes 2d6 fire damage on a failed save, or half as much damage on a successful one.
As a bonus action, you can move the sphere up to 30 feet. If you ram the sphere into a creature, that creature must make the saving throw against the sphere’s damage, and the sphere stops moving this turn.
When you move the sphere, you can direct it over barriers up to 5 feet tall and jump it across pits up to 10 feet wide. The sphere ignites flammable objects not being worn or carried, and it sheds bright light in a 20-foot radius and dim light for an additional 20 feet.

The impact will be known once their turn comes. Note the "end their turn" statement. In other words, they cannot move until their turn. Roll your 2d6 damage and I'll apply it as needed. So Luminmorn, Ryssa, Kriv go. Crawling alongside Davroar, she extracted a couple of arrows from his body and then cast another spell of healing on him. The spell sputtered somehow, however, and did only a minor amount of help.

Can Luminmorn use D-Evil to determine a location to toss a spell? And or can he determine concentrations of monsters? IE stronger here, or lesser here? Or is it a flat evil in that direction with no reference?
While I am asking questions. What about his Channel Divinity. He can make 10' worth of vines spring up. That is an AOE right? Pick a couple of squares and snare there?]

Divine Sense - The presence of strong evil registers on your senses like a noxious odor, and powerful good rings like heavenly music in your ears. As an action, you can open your awareness to detect such forces. Until the end of your next turn, you know the location of any celestial, fiend, or undead within 60 feet of you that is not behind total cover. You know the type (celestial, fiend, or undead) of any being whose presence you sense, but not its identity (the vampire Count Strahd von Zarovich, for instance). Within the same radius, you also detect the presence of any place or object that has been consecrated or desecrated, as with the hallow spell.
You can use this feature a number of times equal to 1 + your Charisma modifier. When you finish a long rest, you regain all expended uses.
Your channel divinity won't work either.
Nature's Wrath - You can use your Channel Divinity to invoke primeval forces to ensnare a foe. As an action, you can cause spectral vines to spring up and reach for a creature within 10 feet of you that you can see. See being the operative word. However, you can set it up as a readied action.
