The old monk swooshes his red cloak for effect and tries to look villainous, squinting with one eye and glaring wide-eyed with the other.

He stayed silent and let the others play our their charade.
13 or 10 depending on disadvantage due to armor or not. 2017-03-06 04:59:20 Luminmorn Stealth Pandemonium rolled 1d20-1,1d20-1 and got 13, 10 | | | | Joined: May 2000 Posts: 17,989 Likes: 1 Moderator | Moderator Joined: May 2000 Posts: 17,989 Likes: 1 | [ooc: 1) I have your stealth rolls. 2) I need some diplomacy or rolls. She freezes when she hears a voice call out behind her, then hears Kriv. If anyone can assume the mantle of command and bluff the situation, it would be Kriv.
She considers the way forward. Does it seem likely that if she creeps forward she may get in behind those at the arrow slits? | | | | Joined: May 2000 Posts: 27,617 Moderator | Moderator Joined: May 2000 Posts: 27,617 | Kriv Persuasion AJ rolled 1d20+2 and got 9

The rolls should actually have been "deception" rolls, not "persuasion". That means that Kriv rolled a 7 not a 9. Since those two were the only ones to try and talk, their two rolls are contested by the guard's insight rolls.
Guard insight (wisdom) Neptune rolled 1d20-1,1d20-1,1d20-1,1d20-1 and got 3, 15, 7, 2
It's a "group" effort for it and you win the contest ... barely.

"Yeah. Yeah. Whatever youz say."
The guards stop talking and it seems like they went back to whatever your arrival interfered with. The arrow tips disappear from the arrow slits. They seem to be allowing you to pass, but care so little that they've forgotten about you already. | | | | Joined: May 2000 Posts: 13,066 Likes: 9 Wobbly Headed Administrator | Wobbly Headed Administrator Joined: May 2000 Posts: 13,066 Likes: 9 | Chandan
He swaps a glance with Kriv and then hurries quickly through the gate.
For a moment Chandan thinks he hears a fast, fleshy slapping noise emanating from behind the loophole. The guards are clearly preoccupied.... | | | | Joined: May 2000 Posts: 42,142 Likes: 5 Member | Member Joined: May 2000 Posts: 42,142 Likes: 5 | <Bern>
He moves ... carefully ... stealthily ... to a position where he can continue to cover Kriv and Chandan as the move to enter.

The apathy of the guards was an unexpected bonus. He met Chandan's look, inclined his head slightly, and proceeded to move into the castle as if he owned the place, to keep up appearances. | | | | Joined: Aug 2005 Posts: 46,267 Member | Member Joined: Aug 2005 Posts: 46,267 | Ryssa
Surprised at the ease in which they were obtaining access, the cleric followed Bern, trying to look casual but ready to draw and nock an arrow if it seemed necessary. | | | | Joined: Jun 2002 Posts: 10,312 Likes: 1 Administrator | Administrator Joined: Jun 2002 Posts: 10,312 Likes: 1 | Davroar
He is grateful for the guards disinterest in their group. Mumbling a quite apology to the group, he takes a quick look to find that the castle's archers have disappeared back inside. Davroar will be glad to get out of the open and inside the castle walls. | | | | Joined: May 2000 Posts: 17,989 Likes: 1 Moderator | Moderator Joined: May 2000 Posts: 17,989 Likes: 1 | DM Doors stand closed to the north and south, with a crumbling mound of rubble partially obscuring the southern hall. To the east, a broad corridor ends in two more doors leading south and east. The corridor is cluttered with dusty rubble and fallen plaster from a partial collapse of the ceiling overhead.

He moved cautiously through the door way and took up a position, bow ready, to cover the others.

Moving inside he looks up at the ceiling to see if there is any holes for any of the archers on the upper floor to monitor the corridors. As to which door to take, his choice would be either of the two doors straight ahead of them as it would lead deeper into the castle and possibly a stairway down to the dungeons where he guesses Gundren would be held.

Leading the way in, she takes stock of what she sees and moves to the left by the first door. She will listen and check the door whilst the others assemble.

He followed. As the entered, he slipped his shield into place, still using the red cloak (if he was given one) to mostly cover his bared weapons and armor. Eventually the ruse would not matter, but for now he would play along as the human Chandan suggested. | | | | Joined: May 2000 Posts: 13,066 Likes: 9 Wobbly Headed Administrator | Wobbly Headed Administrator Joined: May 2000 Posts: 13,066 Likes: 9 | Chandan
Looking around the red-cloaked band, he shudders at the memory of the Redbrands and their villainy. And here they are, about to invade another dungeon. What horrors, what tragedies, what crimes and calamities will they uncover in Cragmaw Castle?
Chandan pats Davroar on the back as he passes.
"You not worry, Davroar. You do good! Alert guards at last minute, put them on backfoot. Work well!" He whispers ernestly. | | | | Joined: May 2000 Posts: 17,989 Likes: 1 Moderator | Moderator Joined: May 2000 Posts: 17,989 Likes: 1 | OOC: I still need Ryssa to move her token but I'll proceed for now. Chandan's pat on the back almost makes him jump as he looks around the place.

Davroar doesn't find archer holes, but he does notice something else. The dusty plaster and rubble in front of the door leading east into the heart of the castle conceals a copper tripwire connected to linchpins hidden in the ruined ceiling. Anyone moving that way will trigger the trap which will likely cause a cave-in of wooden beams and heavy stones. | | |
