He was wondering how to reply to Favric. Apparently this group worshiped dragons. He had heard of such things, but had never actually run into them before. He was trying to decide how to approach the discussion when Ryssa decided to address the situation. He was willing to let her take the lead in the discussion for now. He would rather assess the tactical situation in case things went awry.
"Well, that is sort of my business, but in collaboration with a dragon, what could not be accomplished? However, I cannot know what Venomfang wants until I talk to him."
Ryssa was not used to being the spokesperson for the group and definitely not accustomed to making tactical decisions, but the man was talking so, after glancing at the other members of her party, she turned back to Favric.
Just in case her appearance gave her an edge in dealing with the man, she kept her face turned slightly so the unscarred cheek was toward Favric.
"If we decide to cooperate with you in dealing with the dragon, what would you like for us to do?"
He smiles. "Just back us up. Dragons respect strength. Strength in numbers would go a long way with us being able to treat with Venomfang. Unless you have your own requests for him, all you'd need to do is stand there I think."
Seeing the others look around for suggestions he asked "so your intention is to treat with this dragon, and you want us all to group together to make it easier on the creature to use its breath on us? If we set up differently than we may be perceived as not trusting and thus ambushing the creature. Neither path seems like the best plan.
"It would help us to know what you want from the dragon as it might help us figure out the best method to handle it. I understand your not wishing to tell us anything. That is your choice. Though I can't guarantee that our own interests won't conflict with yours, should you choose not to tell us." He flicked his tongue across his sharp teeth.
He remains hidden outside but with an ear and an eye on the conversation inside. He was a secret weapon and enjoyed the idea. If there would be trouble, he would be ready. And trouble could come from anywhere, inside and out. So he kept his eyes open.
Favric turns to Luminmorn to answer. "I already told you. I want to work with him. There is no way for me to know what that will entail until I speak to him."
He had heard the man's hollow words and complete lack of further information and found it irritating. It was not the dragon born's place to make a choice for the group, but to him, trusting this man, was not something he was willing to do.
He looked to the others for their comments. Maybe letting the dragon eat these fools would serve their problems. Of course if they made a deal it might be that much more difficult.
With no one voicing objections, even though many are uncertain, the group has the decision made for them. Favric grabs his cloak, and with the others in his party in tow he heads out the door and heads for the road to the tower on the hill.
"Come along if you want. I think it would be best for both of our groups as a show of strength", Favric calls back over his shoulder.
(OOC - For the high level plan of joining the parties, it works better if you let me do a slight railroad here and you follow along. If anyone has strenuous objections, let me know.)
[[ =I= don't have any objections to a bit of 'fast forward', but Bern =might= express his opinion that he would rather =not= 'align' with these shady characters. But he is only one vote <wink> ]]
(OOC - Yes, indeed. But it seems no one wants to make a firm decision. Favric has an appointment and can't wait any longer. You can walk with his group or not. I was pointing out that walking there with his group doesn't mean you are allying with him. Of course you can do that too. But in the meantime he is walking off.)
[[ Well if Lingo was to suggest that they follow ... clandestine ... at a distance ... to see what Favic and the dragon have to say to each other ... <g> ]]
[OOC: Ryssa is ambivalent or dichotomous or one of those divided mind words... she does not like the idea of joining up with Favric, and doesn't even really like the idea of going with him and his men, but she also doesn't like the idea of letting them go alone and make a deal with Venomfang.]
[[ so it sounds like the 'let Lingo lead them so spy on the meeting' plan is the way ta go <g> We can always decide to intervene if we need to <weg> ]]
The group heads out the door, larger by far than it had been for the party in their previous explorations of the town. All told there are over a dozen people now walking along the path.
Favric heads towards the left, and the path towards the tower, and the party, being a bit hesitant about Favric's motives tends to follow towards the rear. Lingo, still oberving from hiding follows along on the outskirts of the group.
He trailed with his companions watching and trying to be alert. He would do what he had to, to deal with the dragon and the men. Neither of them seemed the sort that should be allowed to continue to conspire.
