I am encouraged by the increasing number of =very= talented women who are taking the lead as the 'headliner', 'band leader', 'front person'! I am much more familiar with the blues world where. There are now half a dozen women who can 'shred it' with the best of their male counterparts! If you like a great blues electic guitar, check out Joanne Shaw Taylor, Ana Popvic or Kelly Richey to name a few <g>
I am pretty sure I have heard McGregor, but don't actually =own= any of her music yet and she has <sigh> never been here for me to see live (do you know if she has ever toured the US?).
I =have= seen the three I mentioned live several times (which is why I mentioned them specifically <g>
I try to be 'sparing' in my praise of those I have not had the pleasure to see live because too many times what I have heard from the studio does not accurately reflect what I have heard in person.
Diverting the conversation just a bit to illuminate the above ... I had always enjoyed Jimmy Thackery's music. But it wasn't until I saw him live that I had the chance to see what an amazing talent he had with the guitar. It just never came through on the studio albums because they are ... all too often ... 'crafted' by 'marketing types' <sigh>
I don't think Chantel has ever played the US. She's touring all over Britain, and has begun touring continental Europe. I would guess she's unlikely to play the US other than perhaps the odd festival; not signed to a record company and self-releases in the UK.
