He doubted they would agree to the effort but he did venture "I don't suppose we should try and find living kin that the chest might belong to? I know the answer but I felt obligated to ask. Money is necessary for our adventures."
"I appreciate the sentiment", he said to Luminmorn. "But more to the point", he said looking at the others to include them, "how would we determine =who= the rightful owner is?"
He's already trying to pawn the gold pieces. It's obvious that he abides by the rule of "finder's keepers" whether he finds it in a chest or another person's pocket.

"I would vote for a more 'studied' course of action. Charging in can too often be a disaster. Of course, if you want to head there on your own ...", he said with a grin.
Taking the coins with you, you decide to check out the nearby buildings first, before heading towards the tower.
The path heads south from the pair of ruined buildings you just explored. A branch of the path heads east towards a group of other buildings (#6 & #8) and the southern branch passes by two buildings.
The furthest one (#5) looks like it might once have been a farmhouse. It is now half swallowed by a dense thicket, with trees growing up through it's ruined foundations. The lane continues south, past it, and out of the village a short distance before running straight into an overgrown field.
The nearer building (#4) appears to be in better condition than the other ruined and dilapidated structures nearby. The doors to this building are reinforced with heavy iron bands, and thick, closed, shutters protect the windows.
"I would prefer to get those other buildings", points to 5, 6 & 8, "done first. They should be quick to check. Then we can come back and check this one."
Deciding to delay exploring the nearby house (#4), the group looks first at the house directly across the road (#5).
This ruin looks like it might have once been a farmhouse. It is now half-swallowed by a dense thicket with trees growing up through it's ruined foundations. The lane continues a short distance past the ruin to the south before ending in an overgrown field.
Looking into the ruin from the outside, all you can see is rubble, ruined furniture, and brush and trees growing.
What do you choose to do? Enter and rummage around, or bypass and move on?
