Staying behind the others, she fires a bolt of fire at the nearest skeleton.

Chandan

The clamour of arms jolts Chandan from his urination.

Shrieking, he spins and leaps to defend the druid from the undead, though it has to be noted that his bladder has not finished, so there is some spray.

[ooc: Is Chandan climbing onto one of the crypts? Otherwise he cannot get in an attack. He has no foes adjacent to him. Oh, and no need to adjust the rolls. He doesn't have any advantage, as stated earlier]

[ooc: No. Spear has the properties "Thrown (range 20/60), versatile (ld8)" which are beneficial. It would need "reach" to allow you to do that. Halberd and lance are examples of weapons that have reach]

Jaliera thursts her blade into the skeleton in front of her and it strikes the pelvic bone straight on and it cracks off a major piece of it and the animated guardian falters but does not fall. From behind her, the tiefling warlock unleashes a bolt of fire at it and that combination shatters it.

Chandan drops what is in his hands and scampers onto the crypt, rolls on top of it and then off behind the one that is moving forward to fill the space where the destroyed skeleton once stood. He finishes with a bludgeoning kick. While he did not have an advantage on the skeleton, the undead creature displays it's vulnerability to such attacks as the monk's foot drives through it's rib cage. The blow nearly kills it but it hangs onto it's unlife long enough to deliver a thrust that finds a soft spot in the druid's midsection. The druid manages to complete his task, and finishes off the severely damaged skeleton.

Jaliera manages to parry the thrust of the last remaining skeleton, the one that moved up from the back. It slashes at her but the blow is diverted by her sword. The dragonborn watches the exchange with a degree of contempt.

Chandan

Coughing on a cloud of tomb dust, he pole vaults into the remaining skeleton with a flying kick.

He has no idea who the bones originally belonged to, but he hopes they're understanding!

Jaliera

She is relieved to see two of the skeletons disposed of but a third still remains, even to kill any one of them. She attacks it with her sword.

Between Jaliera, Kallista and Chandan, the skeleton did not stand a chance. Chandan quickly learned that his fists and feet were doubly effective against the skeletons. They are vulnerable to bludgeoning damage. BTW, this is different from prior editions where they took half damage from piercing/slashing damage. This works better, I think.

As Chandan climbed over the sarcophagus, he couldn't help but notice that there was a carving on the lid. Upon further inspection, it was that of person. The other two lids have similar
carvings. Two carvings depict a man and the third a woman.

Kriv

He looked at the badly injured Druid without the faintest hint of sympathy or pity.

"Do continue to let us know if there are any other inanimate objects you wish to battle to the death. Now, let's see what's behind this door..."

OOC: In case you missed this post in the OOC thread, it explains how multiple attempts at skill checks works.

Chandan

Covered in tomb dust, the old man almost looks undead himself. Although the dust is starting to congeal to his pee stain, which isn't something the undead are known for.

Chandan climbs off of the sarcophegus, and gawps at the graven figures on the lids.

"My apologies." He says to the carving, respectfully.

The old man turns to the others, pointing out the carvings. "Looks like they lost weight!

"You recognise them, Kriv?" Chandan asks, since the dragonborn knows something about the tombs, even if it's only the meaning of the password.

The first job is to escort Jaliera while she picks the lock on the door [B], then either search the room beyond or head off to the western door [A] and make a search of -- what Chandan suspects will be -- Iarno's chambers.

As much as he was unlikely to forgive the murderer of the surrendered, he did have a valid inquiry. Pragmatically, the Dragonborn headed over for a closer look at the sarcophagi bas-reliefs.

Chandan

He leans in to check on Davroar the Druid. The young man had been caught in the midst of the fracas.

Chandan winks to Davroar, "It's OK. Those objects were very animated and already dead. You did good, young blood."

The etchings on the sarcophagi are fine and detailed. They depict what appear to be persons of noble bearing. The lids are closed.

"A great deal of work went into these. not seeing much indication as to any historical significance yet. Hmm..."

He endeavoured to appraise whom these figures most likely were in the historical context.

Kriv would likely assume that these are the remains of those who once ruled over this town, local lords. You are beneath Tresendar Manor - an ancient castle that has been abandoned for as long as folks can remember. The Redbrands must have converted it into their stronghold.

Jaliera

She shoots Kriv a look, not so happy with the attitude he has displayed towards his companions recently. The only way they will succeed is if they work together and support each other.

"Are you OK Davroar?"

She is concerned about bringing more trouble whilst they are not at full strength.. as well as being concerned about the attractive young druid.

She is wondering whether it might be better if she, Davroar and Kallista recruited some others and carried on alone. She is not sure how much of an asset the other two are? She will watch and see.

I honestly can say that I haven't DMed a game with such personality conflicts since the days of yore when I was just a wee tot. We had one PC that the other PCs put on trial and had executed because he was just insane. Anyhow, I'm going to let it play out but we might want to ease up on the acrimony just a tad. Yeah, we're role playing and you're all playing your roles, but this is a "team" game and to be playable, you all need to inch away from the extremes.

[I think Kriv and Chandan need to both become Davroar's mentors. grin So much fun could be had with that!]

Chandan

The monk is still dusting himself down, but he listens to Kriv while doing so.

"Could be deeper, darker secrets here than Redbrands, you think? Hmm. Well first thing that door."

Chandan shuffles over to Jaliera and Kallista.

"Come come, this way." He leads them to the locked door.

Kriv

His eyes held little but contempt for the murderous vagrant, but he maintained the pragmatic facade for the time being, at least until they could return to civilization, such as it was in these parts.

"Doubtful. These are merely the tombs of those who once lived in the manor above."

He stood by the door and readied his maul in case something hostile chose to make itself apparent.

Davroar

That didn't go as he hoped, thinking the skeletons would be non-combative with the password already given. He takes Kriv's remark at face value, simply saying, "I will, Kriv." Davroar finds Kriv is unreadable in most respects, being not too sure of what the Dragonborn thinks of his actions. Davroar does not hold any resentment towards Kriv for not helping. This was his fight to pick, and if Kriv thought he could handle it, then he should be man enough to do so. He figures this is just part of growing up, and hopes his father and mentor would have done the same.

For Chandan, he returns an appreciative nod for his help and understanding, in what he believes was a valid threat still to the townsfolk here.

He winces with pain as he sits down on one end of the nearest sarcophagi to rest for a bit and replies, "Think I'll be okay, Jaliera. I'll rest for a moment while you unlock the door..."

He feels that he has one more shape change in him, and if they run into more fighting, Davroar will plan to go back to his bear form.
