The halfling balances himself atop the barrel and with his short sword in hand, thrusts it into the prone Redbrand ruffian while the man was trying to regain his balance. The blade strikes true and the rogue twists the blade, trying to carve up his internal organs. He then ducks behind his larger companions and tries to hide from the attackers.
Lingo Attack R2 with advantage (prone), dam, sneak dam, stealth Neptune rolled 1d20+5,1d20+5,1d6+3,2d6,1d20+7 and got 22, 12, 9, 2, 14 Lingo Reroll both dice for the sneak damage Neptune rolled 1d6,1d6 and got 6, 4 Hit (because of advantage) Reroll 1's (because he's lucky). Total 19 damage.
Bern strikes at both foes in front of him and hits the one to his left (OOC - MikeD - You have advantage on R2 for melee as he is Prone. I would have given you another d20 roll here to fix that but Lingo killed him, so for next time remember you get Advantage for melee on Prone opponents).
Lingo uses the man's prone state to his advantage and slides his blade home, slicing thru several vital organs and the man gasps and dies.
Balthazar targets the mage on the stairs again, but while his Bolt of Fire whizzes close to the man's head, it misses him.
Luminmorn strains against the magic holding him, but is unable to break free.
The mage, grunts in annoyance at the acid and fire that keeps being directed at him and decides to focus on that threat. Pointing a finger at Balthazar, 4 bolts of force fire out and strike him.
Iarno MM versus Balthazar Zeim rolled 4d4+4 and got 14.
Her friends were getting hurt and she kept missing! Neither her spells nor her arrows were finding the mage. She muttered a brief prayer, aimed at the mage and fired her arrow.
The halfling takes advantage of the fact that one of the ruffians has to deal with Bern. He stabs the man in the back with his short sword and as soon as he does, he realizes that the blade found it's way through the man's rib cage as it slid smoothly into his chest, shredding his insides. When he withdraws the blade, blood gushes like a crimson fountain.
He goes 3rd and we don't want to waste good rolls, so if R1 is gone before this, let's move the damage to IA and I'll modify the description to be equally gory in a different way....
Lingo Attacks R1, dam, sneak dam, stealth Neptune rolled 1d20+5,1d6+3,2d6,1d20+7 and got 25, 8, 11, 19 Lingo Extra Crit damage Neptune rolled 1d6+3,2d6 and got 8, 8 So, Total damage: 35 pts and 19 for stealth
He was almost growling with frustration, his spells not very effective and his body hurt from the damage it had taken. His vision was starting to go a bit grey.
Regardless, he mumbled the words and shot off another firebolt at the mage, praying that this one would find the mark.
Bern's blow strikes the foe in front of him and a moment later Lingo stabs the man in the back, and he drops like a stone.
With a great exertion of Will, Luminmorn is able to break free of the magic holding him (OOC - If Luminmorn has a Bonus or Free action he can take it now, but he used his normal action to oppose the spell).
Balthazar fires another bolt of fire at the mage, and this one strikes true.
The mage growls in anger. "Oh, no you don't!" He waves his hand and speaks more words of magic.
(Bern needs to make a Will Save versus DC 13. If he fails, he is held.)
Bern is able to shrug off the spell and Ryssa's arrow finally strikes the mage, who now appears concerned, feet shuffling as if he might flee.
The remaining Redbrand still on his feet (#4) has had enough. Turning on his heel he runs across the room and thru the door on the northern wall between the stairs.
Bern, Luminmorn, Lingo, and Balthazar are up. The remaining Redbrand (#3) remains asleep and the mage acts after Lingo.
Lingo He doesn't see a way to gain advantage on the mage but the stupid ruffian turned his back to flee ... a foolish thing to do when fighting Lingo. But the halfling thought better of it and decided it was best to not let the wizard get away. He pointed at the mage and shot at him with an icy ray. Whether or not he hits, the halfling races up towards the mage but up against the base of the steps where he will try and hide until after the wizard takes his turn. He then runs into the room and tries to hide.
Lingo Ray of Frost vs Iarno Neptune rolled 1d20+3,1d8 and got 14, 7 If he hits, Iarno is "slowed". Move to D12 Lingo Stealth Neptune rolled 1d20+5 and got 7
He pulled and tossed a javelin at the mage. It was mostly out of a sense of annoyance and wanting to hurt the wizard back. But in other ways it was also because it was what they came to do, stop him.
23 To hit, 5 Damage Luminmorn Throw Javelin at Glasstaff Pandemonium rolled d20+6,d10+4 and got 23, 5
Bern fires an arrow at the mage, but it misses. Luminmorn and Balthazar have better luck. Both of their attacks strike home in quick succession. A moment later Lingo's arrow whizzes perilously close to the mage's head and it appears that is enough for him.
He speaks a quick word and takes a step forward, and vanishes from sight.
We are back to Ryssa. Current situation:
Mage has vanished. R4 has fled. R3 is asleep. What do you do?
