[OOC Don't think Jaliera is hurt]

Jaliera

She moves to help Kallista search the bodies.

"Perhaps we should move the bodies and dump them is the chasm? It would be useful to have a clear route in.. and back out if the need should arise."

She continues to search, offering another thought.

"How many more do you think there are? The village isn't large enough to support a huge gang and we have already dealt with a number of them."

Karok heals Kriv and then Chandan. Then he gathers his stuff and departs through the tunnel from which they entered.

Karok cure wounds for both Kriv then Chandan
Neptune rolled 1d8+3,1d8+3 and got 10, 4

Kallista

Rifling through pockets she glances at the chasm behind them, then looks slyly at Jaliera. "I have a better idea. Why hide them when we can use them to send a warning message? But first we should search the room they came from to make sure no more are waiting to jump us."

She considers the latter question Jaliera asks. "Well, they are big enough to cow the town, including the Mayor, so it can't be just a handful. Though you're right, there can't be a hundred of them. The town couldn't support them all. So, we've taken care of about 10 now? I think there'd be more than a dozen but probably not much more than two dozen. Just a guess of course."

Davroar

"I could change into a bear."

Davroar remembers as a kid growing up in his tribe how a large grizzly would ransack several of their food caches, especially during early spring.

"They smell very well. I could probably determine individual scents of everyone that has walked through here. I'll loose the ability to talk, but can probably scratch messages in any loose ground."

The other benefit would be an intimidation factor if any more of the gang members are still half drunk.

Chandan

Of the bodies lying dead or dying on the floor, he isn't entirely sure which are his handiwork, but he knows it had been thirsty work and he needs a drink. Even more so now that the dwarf has healed his injuries and the pain of burning pain under his skin has subsided.

"Come come! Yes, we follow their fateful trail." He says, gingerly stepping over the dead and shuffling down the corridor to peer around the corner.

Jaliera

She nods to Kallista.

"That sounds reasonable."

When Davroar offers a tactic, she looks up at him.

"A bear? I didn't know you could do that." She thinks for a moment and then makes a suggestion. "Perhaps we could work out some signals to help us to communicate. Can you change into anything else?"

[ooc: So place yourselves on the map. I took a guess. Anywhere (reasonable) on this map works. I would like a perception roll from Chandan to see what he sees when he peers. ]

"Any animal I've seen, Jaliera. With some exceptions and conditions still, I think. I hope to get better."

Given his travels so far, he has seen a fair bit of the fauna between his homeland in Narfell to the Sword Coast.
[ooc: current position ok ]

(OOC - Current position OK, but I would still prefer if we used the pc names for the bubble labels rather than the player names. So I know G=Gypsy and A=AJ, but it takes me more brain cells to put together that AJ is playing a Dragonborn fighter named Kriv. If the bubble on the map said "Kr" for Kriv, then I know it's the Dragonborn fighter. Who is playing the Dragonborn fighter is less important. At least to me.)

Jailera

She is still helping to search but chatting to Davroar at the same time.

"That sounds quite exciting. I presume you are still you? But you must get an insight into what it might be like to be that animal?"

Davroar

He replies to Jaliera, "Yes, my mind remains. How I sense and move about the world changes with the animal I pick, and the smells are the most profound, as the first form I took last night was a wolf. It is an incredible experience, and kind of hard to describe. I would like to do it more often and try different ones. As you say, I will gain more insight into each animal and will know which one would be best for a given situation."

He pokes one end of his staff into the chest still full of gold and silver coins.

"With the fighting we may have caused too much noise, we should just hide this for now and split it up later."

[ooc: before anyone goes too far forward, I am waiting for Chandan's perception roll. PC to PC chat is OK, but the "action" will pick up from the post with the tactical map.]

Chandan makes his way down the steps and as he maneuvers around the carcass of the nothic, he is surprised by a bugbear that must have sneaked out of the room opposite the door that the drunken guards were in. The bugbear was hiding behind the body of the nothic and as he stands he swings his morningstar and smacks Chandan hard with it.

Bugbear stealth Neptune rolled 1d20+6 and got 23
Bugbear attacks Chandan with surprise Neptune rolled 1d20+4 and got 20
Bugbear Base damage with morningstar Neptune rolled 2d8+2 and got 6
Bugbear Bonus surprise damage with morningstar Neptune rolled 2d6 and got 6
Total 12 pts damage to Chandan
Bugbears initiative Neptune rolled 1d20+2 and got 4

I need initiative rolls. Surprise means you don't act in the first round, but the bugbear rolled poorly for that.

Kallista Initiative
Zeim rolled d20+3 and got 9

(OOC - Well since there is no Surprise round anymore, Bugbear already went for round 1 and we all missed our actions, so everyone should up now for round 2 now in whatever the initiative order is, correct?)

Davroar

The sounds of a start of another fight brings his attention back down the stairs to see Chandan being attacked and hit rather badly. Davroar figures it is better at this point to remain as himself to cast healing spells.

Jaliera

She is nodding when sounds of combat redirect her attention down the corridor. She grabs her bow and gets ready to fire.

Chandan

The impact is so great it lobs him against the wall and onto the floor, and gives the old man very little chance to comprehend what's just happened.

The feeling isn't dissimilar to having drunk an entire flagon of rice wine on an empty stomach, and perhaps it's this tenuous training that drags the monk unsteadily back to his feet with a belligerent grunt.

Without pause he launches himself at the bugbear in what may be an attack, or maybe he is just launching himself at the bugbear.

[[Initiative roll 5+3=8
To hit, 1st attack 13+5=18. Damage 4+3=7
To hit, 2nd attack 18+5=230. Damage 6+3=9]]

order is:
Davroar 18
Jaliera 13
Kalista 9
Chandan 8
Kriv 8
Bugbear 4
I just "decided" between Kriv and Chandan here.

Davroar goes. The rest of you can act too. Remember that the bugbear is down the steps and will have some benefit of cover from those upstairs.

Kriv

It made sense: Weak-willed, corruptible vermin directed by a Bugbear. Their enemies were demonstrating a consistent modus operandi, and the brains of the operation might have more of a sense of self-preservation.

"You could probably kill him, maybe one or two of the rest of us, but the remainder would end your life. You have two choices: Fight to your death, or yield and give us the true location of Cragmaw Castle. If it matches the information we have, your life retains some value. Choose quickly, because you have until we end your life to decide..."

He advanced down the stairs to support the injured vagrant, or cover his retreat if needed, aiming a swing at the bugbear if he could get a good angle.

Kriv Attack if possible
AJ rolled 1d20+5 and got 11
Kriv damage
AJ rolled 1d6,1d6 and got 5, 3
11 damage
