Chandan heeds Kriv's hint, understanding the tactical advantage it would provide, and moves back into the cavern, but does not allow for movement beyond. Now others in the party can help put the ruffians away.
Jalieara holds fire, waiting for her companions to take out the first ruffian and will target the second one with her arrow when he steps forward. So she waits and it pays off.
The ruffian is practically falling over himself drunk when Chandan attacks. The monk's first blow misses but a second kick in the face snaps the ruffian's neck. Two down.
So now the next ruffian steps up and as soon as he appears, an arrow, from Jaliera's bow, whizzes by his head.
Karok is looking to see if any of his companions are in need of healing but they seem to be holding up alright for now.
Kriv tries to plant the point of his maul in the ruffian's head but the hammer head misses.
Kallista fires an arcane bolt of fire at the ruffian which hits but does not do a lot of damage.
Davroar tries to strike the ruffian with his staff, but he whiffs on the attack, leaving the ruffian alive to get his attacks in.
The ruffian goes right after the old monk, almost tripping on himself but maybe he's less drunk than his pals because he manages to rip open a wound in the monk's torso with his short sword. Chandan takes 3 pts damage - luckily he's drunk and attacking with disadvantage. It negated the crit! Ruffian attacks Chandan Neptune rolled 1d20+4,1d20+4,1d6+2,1d20+4,1d20+4,1d6+2 and got 24, 12, 3, 19, 22, 3
OOC: This might be the last post for a bit. I'm heading out for my Eurotrip today and returning May 10. I should have Internet but I won't have lots of time to post. That doesn't mean I won't, but it means you should expect extreme slow-down for the next two weeks.
She fires another bolt, hoping for a more powerful one this time, grinning when the bolt of fire roars from her hand. Kallista attacks Zeim rolled d20+5,d10 and got 18, 10
He yelps when the tip of the sword cuts across his wizened torso. There isn't any spare fat on him to absorb such a blow, and his skin is already blotchy and inflamed from the Nothic's burning gaze.
The monk's fighting style is in complete shambles, swaying from side to side like a drunkard himself. He spins up the tip of his spear with the flex in the haft and lunges.
[ooc: Just an FYI, I'm back and will be posting tonight if I don't nod off early again. I'm still Jet-lagged from my EuroTrip. Also, you probably saw this elsewhere, but Nivek is bowing out. Online D&D just isn't his cuppa tea. Also, Dugan is back from his extended hiatus. Thanks Gypsy for dragging Davroar around ]
[ooc: Thanks!] Karok - ghosted The cleric moves to a spot where he can call upon the power of his god to help the group and as he does so, flame-like radiance descends on the ruffian in the rear.
Move to 10,4 Karok Sacred flame damage to ruffian (dex save needed) Neptune rolled 1d8 and got 2
DM This turn led to the demise of the ruffians. Between Kriv's maul, Kallista's fire bolt, Jaliera's arrow, Chandan's fist and even Karok's sacred flame, the ruffians are all slain.

The dwarf looks to his friends and says, "I have had a vision from my god, a calling if you will. There is trouble within my clan and I must leave you now. Your task is an important one and so I wish you all the best. Let me heal your wounds and then I must leave."
OK, not a very graceful way of doing it, but it's the best way to move on. Who needs healing?
Two fights with two different enemies without being wounded is a win in his books, even though it seems he couldn't hit a barn door with his staff.
His young face shows a sad frown at hearing Karok's sudden change of plans to leave, but understands how a 'calling' can have a profound affect on some people. He shakes his head no to Karok's offer for healing, and says, "Safe journey, Karok."
"We will miss you Karok. Travel safely. Maybe will will meet up again in the future."
She keeps her concerns to herself but effectively their group is down a fighter and a healer, quite a blow just as they are about to start the main assault.
Maybe they need a change of tactics here?
Out of deference to Karok she keeps that thought to herself for now.
He eyed Karok without emotion, his expression neutral. It would be impossible to gainsay the Gods to a priest, but he wasn't happy to see their collective duty curtailed. Turning back to the matter at hand, he stowed his maul and went over to take a look at the magical sword more thoroughly, now that they were less likely to be interrupted.
Kriv draws the long sword from a silver-chased scabbard. As he looks at it he sees the name "Talon" inscribed on the blade and it's hilt is worked in the shape of a bird of prey with outspread wings. Others have already surmised that it once belonged to Aldith Tresendar, who was also known as the Black Hawk. ooc: It's a +1 Long Sword
"I was right, it is the Black Hawk's blade. Truly a storied weapon. It is wonderful to be able to see it for itself, a real privilege for a scholar. I feel humbled to be in its presence."
He resheathed the blade, carefully dusted the scabbard, and handed it back.
She shakes her head incredulously, but takes the sword back and slips it's strap across her back. She then turns to search the bodies to see if they have anything either valuable or informational.
He touches foreheads with the dwarf and bids him fairwell in his native togue.
"I have also had a calling from the gods." Says Chandan to the others, "That I must explore the room beyond in search of the drink that made these ruffians drunk."
