It's also your choice where this happens. It can happen here in the broken down homestead, a tavern in Brockman's Holdfast, or a tavern a day out from Talantal; the latter is tempting because you'd have access to most any kind of shop for resupplying and re-outfitting yourself.

Well, Kadri needs to get herself all dolled up, so to speak. Figure the only appropriate one for that is likely Bekkah or Romana; Dazi isn't really the fancy dress up sort, I kinda get the idea that Kay isn't either. I think it highly unlikely that Darien is. And that isn't the sort of thing that is going to be asked of the menfolk. So for the moment, being the odd person out, I suppose I can take the opportunity to give some of those riding lessons to our erstwhile Rhoni.

Depending on the ultimate decision Mikal may or may not need things, so the "day out of Talantal" tavern sounds good. If he ends up being Kadri's bodyguard, and Kadri gets dolled up with "house colours" and such, he will need better clothes for sure. As bodyguard he will expect to accompany her anywhere she goes, and for some "court" functions he needs better outfits.

BTW, this may have been discussed, but has Cesare's role been determined? I can see him as Adviser/Major Domo to Kadri or as a assistant bodyguard working with Mikal. Former role might be better.

Well, if Kadri is going to pose as a high member of a noble house we already discussed she needs a staff. That staff should (I'd think) consist of (at least):

- Bodyguard
- Maid
- Manservant
- Adviser/Major Domo

The Adviser role would be someone who would:

- Be the person who would control her schedule, make her appointments, be the person others would come to to try to setup meetings with "Lady Kadri" (after all you can't expect a Lady to handle those mundane tasks herself, can you?).
- Offer her advice on political matters
- Guide her in dealings with other nobles
- Be in charge of her household staff. Make sure her mundane tasks are taken care of. Purchase what she needs so she doesn't need to "dirty" her hands with money.
etc.

That's all well, fine and good, except that our party isn't big enough to support Lady Kadri having such a staff.

Bekkah, Dean and Romana are Imperials (that is seriously mind blowing, by the way, thinking that Romana is now an Imperial) and are -- in the order of the universe -- above all of us.

Daxia and Kay are Dayalans, and while they might be temporarily attached to Lady Kadri's party, once the Allaine delegation shows up, that's where their place is.

That leaves Mikal, Cesare, Jankin and Darian with Kadri. Except that Real Life is causing both Jankin and Darian to sit out this part of the adventure for a while. Mikal could maybe double as both Bodyguard and Major Domo, and Cesare could act as Manservant. This does leave the problem that Lady Kadri does not have a Maid... and she really ought to have one.

Kadri might broach the subject with Kay, who hasn't the faintest idea what it means to be a Maid, as Dayalan culture doesn't possess the concept of "servant." Kay might find it amusing... Kay might think Kadri is out of her cotton picking mind... Kay might get so confused that she wanders off to ask her mentor what the Amberite is talking about. Being an NPC, Kay is more unpredictable than PCs.

I'd suggest someone ghosting Darian for ividia, except that I can't see the Hunter playing the part of the Maid, either.

Now, despite being Imperials, it would be possible to combine the Bekkah/Dean/Romana group with the Kadri/Mikal/Cesare group because Ladies of Attera can do whatever they darn well please. It would be up to Bekkah and Kadri to work out their relationship to account for their traveling together, and to come up with a plausible story as to where Kadri's maid went and why Bekkah and/or Romana are helping her (out of the goodness of their hearts and all that) with pesky things like dressing.

Maybe Romana WAS Kadri's maid and now has a new calling. Maybe Bekkah has agreed to her having a dual role until her replacement could be found.

Just thinking out loud.

Or maybe Kadri has some sort of chronic illness that requires the attention of Bekkah, and requires her to have help in dressing, and Romana, being a trainee, is doubling as maid/attendant?

But, otherwise, we have the numbers:

Bodyguard - Mikal
Manservant - Jankin
Adviser - Cesare
Main - Darian

No bigger stretch having Darian be a maid than Romana.

Kadri is a bit delicate looking, actually. So needing some care would not be a far cry. The other advantage is that it would provide some cover to be traveling in in the company of a lady of Atterra until such time as she can get herself announced and announced publicly, so that the Terilanquel KNOW that she is off limits connected to the Kories.


It's quite possible that she could simply tell more or less the truth on that; Bekkah the Imperial is her friend, and they decided to travel together to attend?

Cesare is happy with the role of manservant. What is he being given to wear? Presumably some sort of house colours to mark him as one of Kadri's entourage? Sash maybe?

It would indeed be interesting to hear what sort of rumor mill is going on among the servents at "Casa de Montague". Probably running quite wild about now.

Thus any rumors or speculations that ARE going on in the Montague Household are a direct result of Dean completely pushing the other Nobles off balance.

Thus, it's all Deans fault.

But in this case, that's not necessarily a bad thing.

...Kadri was actually saying much the same thing as Daxia. She was referring more to being in the city at all rather than acting the part. Doing the right thing(rescuing the brother) is more important than the smart thing(staying hidden in the woods).
