Do I asume we are using the eminently sensible: 12 copper = 1 silver 20 silver = 1 gold 21 silver = 1 platinum

In Pathfinder/D&D 3.75, it's metric. 100 cp = 10 sp = 1 gp = 0.1 pp The rates you mentioned match the Warhammer conversions. But I also found the baker's prices confusing. 2 cp each or 12 for a silver. Which made me think it wasn't the metric system... For 1 silver you can have 5 or 12!

Too many years of doing it this way to want to make it more difficult by counting them differently. It won't matter pocket change is pocket change, and I won't be counting every coin. It is more for flavor than anything else.
