Oosith the aboleth Attacks Davroar the snake with 3 tentacle attacks (no disadvantage because of effective flanking) Neptune rolled 1d20+9,2d6+5,1d20+9,2d6+5,1d20+9,2d6+5 and got 20, 13, 23, 17, 25, 11Oosith 3 tentacles attacks totals 13+17+11 = 41 Your latest update shows Davroar's snake form at 54 HP, that would leave his snake form at 13 HP So if Oosith attacks Davroar again with its tail for 18, then yes he would revert back but would only have suffered 5 points to his human form. Also, can Davroar cast another Summon Animals spell while the giant crabs from the first one are still active (but probably not for long )?

I had 40 - 41 and took off 1 point off of his human form.
No you may not summon additional animals. It's a concentration spell and only one may be active at a time.

It becomes a cost benefit analysis. Once there are so few Crabs left, its probably not worth maintaining concentration for just 1 or 2 as opposed to creating a whole new set with full HPs.
AJ - Very nice attack sequence!

I also fixed the current HP for Davroar in human form. It starts with this post with updated HUMAN hps.. Davroar had 40 current HP before transforming. After this, he changed into a snake. He took 3 points of damage to the snake in this post. leaving the snake 54 current HPs. What I didn't do is post a status after the legendary action taken by Oosith after you squeezed him (critically) here: in this post with a tail attack did 14 points of damage. That brought his down to 40. The 41 damage then dropped his form. 1 point is transfered to his human form leaving him 39 HP. It then added a legendary action tail-whip for 18 points leaving him 21 in human form, which is where we're at. As Zeim stated, it may be advantageous for Davroar to drink his potion but he has a good CON bonus so he's alright for now. And AJ, what a great turn! Killed KTM and did 25 points on Oosith!

Davroar goes for the leftover crabs.

If you disagree let me know and I'll move her elsewhere and just attack Oosith with the LB). Obviously this is Nep's call, but this was interesting enough for me to look up. According to Xanathar's guide page 87, looks like you could, at a slight angle, actually get an effective 10-foot-wide beam. But if you target exactly down a row or diagonal you can do exactly what it looks like you intended. | | | | Joined: Nov 2004 Posts: 10,423 Likes: 13 Maris Imperium Member | Maris Imperium Member Joined: Nov 2004 Posts: 10,423 Likes: 13 | And the DMG, page 251. Although it's talking circular, the key word is "covers at least half a square". A line down the middle would cover exactly half a square which does fall into the "at least" category. "Choose an intersection of squares or hexes as the point of origin of an area of effect, then follow its rules as normal. If an area of effect is circular and covers at least half a square, it affects that square." I'd probably go with the same rules as for movement, though | | | | Joined: May 2000 Posts: 42,146 Likes: 5 Member | Member Joined: May 2000 Posts: 42,146 Likes: 5 | Geezzz ... let the DM decide how it all works out <gd&r lmao>

Aquadyne is a co-DM so I'm fine with his posts here. Most of what his posts are about is him learning some of the nuances of D&D so that he can run a game. His posts are not decisions at this time. The way they land on me is "This is how I would rule. What do you think Nep?" So I'm fine with that. That brings me to the second point. How wide is a lightning bolt? It's 5' wide. So the idea of the 10' wide or the 1-inch beam are out. Zeim and I actually had a face-to-face discussion with Jeremy Crawford at Gencon about this exact question, in a slightly different form. Shapes of spells sometimes touch a fraction of a grid square. Obviously Oosith would be a direct line target and because Sindar and Bern are "adjacent" I would rule that it's impossible, in a 2-dimensional grid to avoid either. What Jeremy Crawford suggested is that those in "partially hit squares" should have advantage on their saves. (Do you remember that Zeim?). But now the water is 10' over the walkway. I certainly think that Zhu can avoid hitting both party members but it would be from an "altitude". Of course, that takes KT5 out of the path of the LB since he's battling both. So I rule that he cannot get both KT5 and Oosith and avoid Sindar and Bern. He can choose to attack Oosith without putting party members at risk. And hey, aren't we all glad that lightning bolt doesn't rebound like it did in AD&D. We might be pulling out our protractors and calculating refraction factors

I see Nep has made his decision, which had a 50% chance of being mine. | | | | Joined: Oct 2001 Posts: 22,195 Likes: 9 (Buffalo) Moderator | (Buffalo) Moderator Joined: Oct 2001 Posts: 22,195 Likes: 9 | OK. I will move her slightly differently in that case in Roll20 and just go for Oosith. | | | | Joined: May 2000 Posts: 18,001 Likes: 1 Moderator | OP Moderator Joined: May 2000 Posts: 18,001 Likes: 1 | Moved to OOC Zeim said... (OOC - Bern's initial save is with Advantage since we are fighting the Aboleth. If he does Save then Oosith cannot drain him. If he doesn't Save with the added Advantage roll, then this latest set of Saves is also with Advantage.) What makes you think that? It is not with advantage.

Looking at the Dominate spell says: ...... ..You attempt to beguile a Humanoid that you can see within range. It must succeed on a Wisdom saving throw or be Charmed by you for the Duration. If you or Creatures that are friendly to you are Fighting it, it has advantage on the saving throw... ..... OK, but on further research, if an Aboleth's 'Enslave' is not the same as 'Dominate', then perhaps no. It appeared the same at first glance, but now looking deeper they might be different. MikeD - Extra rolls is up to Nep. I have to say, Bern is rolling like cr*p for Saves.

It's like reading 13th Age, where Heinsoo and Tweet discuss the rules they've designed. Inspirational, I think. And MikeD's rolling is always spiky. You wait, as soon as Bern recovers he'll fire off two crits in one round and annihilate the BBEG. | | | | Joined: May 2000 Posts: 42,146 Likes: 5 Member | Member Joined: May 2000 Posts: 42,146 Likes: 5 |

Dugan, btw, when you summon more Animals having one of them hit Bern with small damage attacks until he breaks free of the Aboleth would probably be a good idea. In fact, if Bern gets a new save "every time he takes damage" it might even pay to have multiple small attacks directed his way so he can get one roll of 14+......

I loved it! Be thankful that we are allowing the lightning bolt to spread out and hit everything connected to the water. | | | | Joined: May 2000 Posts: 18,001 Likes: 1 Moderator | OP Moderator Joined: May 2000 Posts: 18,001 Likes: 1 | Yeah, "dominate" and "enslave" are not the same.
And no, we are "not" spreading the lightning bolt or rebounding it. Sheesh. LOL

If Sindar steps back a square, that provokes an opportunity attack correct?
In short he can heal himself for a little bit, or he can potentially kill the foe. I think offense is better at the moment.
If I don't posts quick enough, you now have his action, just want to do it in the best way possible.
