As all the others move into the room ... taking all the light ... he pulls out his coin and uses that light to get him safely to the room. He remains outside, however, to keep an eye out for more trouble.

Activating all four levers as he intended, Kriv pointed out his findings to Jaliera and Davroar, that the handwheels would each raise the water level over time, and the levers lower it correspondingly. | | | | Joined: May 2000 Posts: 17,985 Likes: 1 Moderator | OP Moderator Joined: May 2000 Posts: 17,985 Likes: 1 | DM As Kriv explains how the levers worked, had they known, they could have flooded the sewer to help Davroar rise from the bottom of the well. Otherwise, there was not much use for the mechanics of the room.

The water rising also has a lot more visibility than the muck they were digging through. Had they known, seeing things below the surface or cleaning things might also have been useful. Alas, it's not quite clean enough to bathe in. | | | | Joined: Jun 2002 Posts: 10,310 Likes: 1 Administrator | Administrator Joined: Jun 2002 Posts: 10,310 Likes: 1 | Davroar
"So, is the sewer water at its lowest now? Can we drain it more? And did you guys get all of those fish-head creatures?"
Surviving the attack of the Otyugh and Kuo-Tao still leaves them with no real answers of Oosith, mind-flayers, or how Lady Atalia died so suddenly. | | | | Joined: May 2000 Posts: 17,985 Likes: 1 Moderator | OP Moderator Joined: May 2000 Posts: 17,985 Likes: 1 | OOC: The water is at it's "lowest" level. You can only flood it now.

"Sindar," he says to the bard, offering the rapier, "try this one for size."
He values the rest and recoups his energy as he scans the darkness. As soon as his companions are ready, so will he be.

She watches the rapier she had found get passed to Sindar. There is a small pang of regret as she uses a rapier herself. But then she reminds herself that she already has a nice rapier herself but relies much more on her bow in preference. Sindar will likely make more use of it. | | | | Joined: May 2000 Posts: 17,985 Likes: 1 Moderator | OP Moderator Joined: May 2000 Posts: 17,985 Likes: 1 | DMThe eerie quiet of the sewers, broken only by the footsteps of the heroes and the occasional drip of water, seems endless. Davroar is correct. The job is not yet done. The mystery has not been solved. There seems to be only one place to go and that would be to try and follow the aquatic guardians that had fled. OOC: A few of you could still use your hit dice. This is the status as of this moment...

Use it. In fact, knowing what you already know, you expect the next encounter to be much more dangerous than this last one. That's an overt, DM issued, metagaming hint.

On consideration, Kriv takes a moment to feather a valve and a lever, not looking to flood the sewer so much as flush it, and reduce the possibility of catching something from stagnant filth. | | | | Joined: May 2000 Posts: 13,066 Likes: 9 Wobbly Headed Administrator | Wobbly Headed Administrator Joined: May 2000 Posts: 13,066 Likes: 9 | [I'd have thought Jaliera would be a short sword kind of gal, given rapiers have a blade length over a metre. ] | | | | Joined: May 2000 Posts: 76,635 Likes: 59 Wizop Administrator | Wizop Administrator Joined: May 2000 Posts: 76,635 Likes: 59 | [OOC Always trying to make a statement ] | | | | Joined: May 2000 Posts: 17,985 Likes: 1 Moderator | OP Moderator Joined: May 2000 Posts: 17,985 Likes: 1 | ooc: Sorry Dugan, I missed your healing. He takes care to do so slowly. The sound of water flowing starts. His experiment indicates that there is so much sewage that flushing is a futile effort. This is what a sewer is. The added water simply dilutes the muck.

Dilution was the aim and intention, a reduced risk even if not an eliminated one. He got it as good as it would seem to get before restoring the controls to their off positions. | | |
