Though his words were having an effect, they weren't killing the beast. The half-elf moved more quickly so that he could get closer and use a different piece of magic. While he did so, his twin beams of green Eldritch energy went wide not finding purchase on their intended target.

This one got complicated. -Bern is +8 to hit (on his Roll20 sheet) with the longbow, based on level and attribute. -there's a -5 for 75% cover from this angle -there's a +2 (which is really a -2 to it's AC) for the slow. Quick math says that nets to a +5
-there's a - 1d4 for the effects of the "bane" spell on him. Let's see what those rolls are... Bern bane roll on attack Neptune rolled 1d4 and got 2 Bern bane roll on attack Neptune rolled 1d4 and got 1 That means you were +3, +4
he rolled a 16 and a 10 on the die. So, that's 16+3=19 and 10+4=14. The Otyugh's AC is 14. Two hits!
DMBern fires two arrows at the Otyugh. After the second arrow found a target in a vulnerable spot the tentacles all flop and splash in the water harmlessly and lie there limp. All seems quiet now but you know it's not. The aquatic humanoids are around here, lurking in the dark sewer water. The haven't been seen for a while. There were a number of them and only a number of them and there are only two bodies that float along with the excrement in the water. The flames from Davroar's sphere and Kriv's glowing glasstaff are the only lights. Let's stay in initiative order. The view below is Arus's. What are Kriv and Arus doing?

The dragonborn continued to advance, heading for the bridge his colleagues were on. He continued using the coin as a light source to supplement staff and fire.
Will you allow a cautious double move? | | | | Joined: May 2000 Posts: 18,137 Likes: 2 Moderator | OP Moderator Joined: May 2000 Posts: 18,137 Likes: 2 | Absolutely. A cautious double move is 30 feet. You may reposition Kriv in Roll20.

"Clear!" Arus calls to his companions, "But be on your guard, for those kuo-toa must have a lair nearby." The triton steadies his heart-rate then picks through the otyugh's nest. Bones? Remains? Souvenirs? He'd expected to find a magic-wielding foe in the sewer, someone who could lay a potent curse on Lord Artan. If this Kraken Society had a pet otyugh they could've used it to dispose of Artan and his cohorts entirely. But they hadn't, opting instead for a more elaborate fate. 'Why' wasn't so interesting to Arus as 'how'. The paladin suspects there's unfortunately more to this sewer yet. She breathes a sigh of relief as the Otyugh falls lifeless to the ground. She moves as quickly as possible to where the Flaming Sphere is burning, stopping outside of it's AOE and calls down. Zhu's voice echos down to him, and he lets out a sigh at the same time he cancels his spell and says, "Yes! Yes, I'm down here. Everyone ok up there? Jaliera? Is she all right?" | | | | Joined: May 2000 Posts: 77,902 Likes: 66 Wizop Administrator | Wizop Administrator Joined: May 2000 Posts: 77,902 Likes: 66 | Jaliera
So relieved to hear Davroar's voice, she cannot keep the exuberance from her voice.
"Yes I'm fine. I was worried about you."
She hurries forward but watches the surface water just in case. Whisper is watching behind her. | | | | Joined: May 2000 Posts: 18,137 Likes: 2 Moderator | OP Moderator Joined: May 2000 Posts: 18,137 Likes: 2 | OOC: I said the encounter wasn't over and to stay in initiative order. That means, take your single round move and don't assume safety - because it's far from safe.
Please move Zhu a 1 round move.
On Arus's turn he was going to search. Searching will take time and you are still in melee.

She can shout to Davroar from there since it is no surprise to anyone, friend or foe, where he is. She is readying an action to cast a spell if she sees an enemy.) | | | | Joined: May 2000 Posts: 18,137 Likes: 2 Moderator | OP Moderator Joined: May 2000 Posts: 18,137 Likes: 2 | Gypsy. By "hurry", I assume she's doing a double move and not at half speed. She will need to make a Dex check, which should be a breeze for her. It's a DC 10 and she rolls 1d20+7. If she fails we'll talk about it. If she succeeds, We'll move her 60 feet. If you go to Roll20, that would put her right behind Kriv. (Actually Kriv's on the last square she can move to)

OK, I assumed since there were no enemies on the radar in Roll20 that we were clear. He moves quickly forward and continues to keep an eye out. He fully expects the dastardly foes to return and he will be ready.

With the obvious threats handled ... for the moment, he moves carefully forward. It was time to get Davroar out of the 'well'.

I moved Bern cautiously (half speed/no saving throw needed). If you want me to make it a double-move, let me know.
Also, don't forget about individual light. Kriv and then Arus go.
Then...
