The Strength check (and the burning) is an action, so even assuming the Giant was within movement range you'd only have a Bonus Action left on that turn. You could just make a ranged attack (with Disadvantage) from inside the web OR cast a spell (at no penalty). | | | | Joined: May 2000 Posts: 18,574 Likes: 7 Moderator | OP Moderator Joined: May 2000 Posts: 18,574 Likes: 7 | Hah!!! I think that'd be 15-ft of movement towards the hill giant, accounting for terrain. | | | | Joined: May 2000 Posts: 18,574 Likes: 7 Moderator | OP Moderator Joined: May 2000 Posts: 18,574 Likes: 7 | I have a new full time job .... baby sitting! 4th grandkid on the way in August!

I need an animal handling for Arus. DC 10...let's call it a save, to control the horse enough to prevent a dumping of the goods into the river. Arus cut Boris free from the cart, which is still webbed, I think? | | | | Joined: Oct 2001 Posts: 23,126 Likes: 13 (Buffalo) Moderator | (Buffalo) Moderator Joined: Oct 2001 Posts: 23,126 Likes: 13 | I believe that's correct, Aqua. The cart should stay put then. | | | | Joined: May 2000 Posts: 18,574 Likes: 7 Moderator | OP Moderator Joined: May 2000 Posts: 18,574 Likes: 7 | With the horse and cart now webbed securely in place, Arus has no need to cut Boris loose. But yeah, I see his post. Will adjust soon.

Need anything in particular to action this, want me to move back on the map?

You no longer get to attack with 2 weapons (1 in each hand) as part of a normal attack routine. If you want to attack with your off-hand you must use up your Bonus Action to do so. | | | | Joined: Jan 2023 Posts: 8,265 Likes: 21 Coordinator of Chaos Moderator | Coordinator of Chaos Moderator Joined: Jan 2023 Posts: 8,265 Likes: 21 | As Nep posted in the main thread, Two-Handed attacks have changed from prior versions. Yeah wasn't sure if it was still possible... Almost makes taking that option/fighting style a waste... but...it works. | | | | Joined: Oct 2001 Posts: 23,126 Likes: 13 (Buffalo) Moderator | (Buffalo) Moderator Joined: Oct 2001 Posts: 23,126 Likes: 13 | Yes, much less useful. Of course you could also say that prior versions made it too powerful (effectively a free attack every round). You are basically just using your bonus action to take an attack, which compares with the BA spell options available or other things you can do. It just becomes one more choice. | | | | Joined: Nov 2004 Posts: 12,838 Likes: 23 Maris Imperium Moderator | Maris Imperium Moderator Joined: Nov 2004 Posts: 12,838 Likes: 23 | By my math Pavel didn't even need the extra attack (or even necessarily to misty step away) as I count 114 > 105 on the giant... although with those weird eyes one wonders if it's actually going to die... | | | | Joined: Oct 2001 Posts: 23,126 Likes: 13 (Buffalo) Moderator | (Buffalo) Moderator Joined: Oct 2001 Posts: 23,126 Likes: 13 | One of the peculiarities of on-line message gaming. Obviously, in a FTF game (presuming Pavel's attack dropped the giant), the DM would announce the giant dropped and so he wouldn't even try to use it. One of those situations where he'd end up taking back the action retroactively I guess.
In any case, I need to wait to see if it is still up before I post for Zhu. | | | | Joined: Jan 2023 Posts: 8,265 Likes: 21 Coordinator of Chaos Moderator | Coordinator of Chaos Moderator Joined: Jan 2023 Posts: 8,265 Likes: 21 | DM
Since you've left your horse to fend for itself, I'll move it for you.
Oh... wasn't aware I was supposed to move him. Just know he made his last save. And my math was wrong, I used Pavel's attack roll not the damage roll. So it's 93, 12 more damage needed. C'mon Zhu and Jaliera, save Aubric from that club! Are we using the Weapon Mastery properties (Sap, Vex, Cleave, etc.)? If so would like to point out the giant should be rolling with Disadvantage on it's next attacks. | | | | Joined: May 2000 Posts: 18,574 Likes: 7 Moderator | OP Moderator Joined: May 2000 Posts: 18,574 Likes: 7 | No. Those are 2024 rules and this game is 2014 rules.
