That said we have, in one location, a whole lot of interesting Native Characters gathered together. The rest is completely up to you folks: You may presume - and include in your posts - the traditional wedding happenings - dancing and huggings and such. Just leave their dialogue to me You may talk to anyone on Midwinter's Hill. Including named characters (like Dandy and Tray and Lady Kara) and un-named folks (like the Rhoni teenagers who have been swept up in this event). As I said, it's an interesting bunch of folks, so use this chance while you got it! We can continue the hilltop conversations as long as you folks wish. | | | | Joined: May 2000 Posts: 80,351 Likes: 75 Wizop Administrator | Wizop Administrator Joined: May 2000 Posts: 80,351 Likes: 75 | Well Cesare is not going to pass up the opportunity to talk to the Rhoni and is hoping Keiko might provide introductions/guidance. | | | | Joined: Jul 2011 Posts: 7,944 Sower of Insanity Member | Sower of Insanity Member Joined: Jul 2011 Posts: 7,944 | Keiko is happy to help. Let's see how well Kel's brain is going to work this month, eh? Maybe this Chinese medicine tincture (which tastes like dirt, as all such tinctures do) will help clear up one or two of the health issues. Whee. Your next posts should finish up any conversations you wish to have at the end of the wedding ... Afterward, of course, the Bride and Groom will vanish (with Dominic eventually returning Tray and Broke to their respective homes) If there seems to be no conversation I may move things quickly to the next day, so this is your last chance My High Seneschal just growled at me? She does frequently lay out her Doublebluff tiles, however, to my knowledge, she hasn't done so since she and Daxia met the rest of the party in Bordertown. Daxia has told her more than once to keep her hands away from them. That doesn't mean she isn't arranging them inside her head and seeing how they're going to fall. I suspect Super OCD Woman was the only one able to keep track of What Was When, and even I had a hard time of it. The Proofreader will henceforth be ruthless in the cutting of Time Jumping sections. If the GM wants to Travel Through Time, joining the Falcon in ALS would be a better option.] Hey! I have already noted that the evening thread was closed Lyric's had her last word and now a morning word and now I need write what a sleepy Eleni thinks of all this. As previously noted, from here on out all posts are morning posts | | | | Joined: May 2000 Posts: 24,742 Likes: 10 Member | Member Joined: May 2000 Posts: 24,742 Likes: 10 | I don't mind running dual time lines on occasions where there is something of value to be had in terms of roleplaying and character/group development. The new concurrent timeline allows others to keep the momentum going while the few wrap things up. It is incumbent on all of us to help the gm and label our posts when we are doing the concurrent or the side stage type of thing. With that being written, i would ask the proofreader to be vigilant but not necessarily ruthless | | | | Joined: Jul 2011 Posts: 7,944 Sower of Insanity Member | Sower of Insanity Member Joined: Jul 2011 Posts: 7,944 | I DO mind the dual timelines and the GM knows this. The GM should have known better than to start this, but part of the blame is on me because I should have stopped it before it started. There might be a value for some players in this kind of structure, but it has the opposite effect on others. Where has Keiko been? Is she even at the breakfast table? I don't know because I haven't written anything for her in a while. I have even considered dropping that character, letting Keiko go her own way. She served her purpose in Waverider's Watch, in the Forest, on the Journey to Bordertown. Yes, she certainly could have responded to Tomomi and/or Lyric. But that would have kept us on "last night" through the end of the month and perhaps even into November. I'd already tried to get to the morning once. I wasn't going to try again. My post was misinterpreted by Gypsy as being for the previous night, so I dropped it and gave the ball back to the GM so he could move us forward.
He often (oh, so very often) says that he wants the players to move the action forward. He was Evil enough in the beginning, in Cragside, that I got the message. I will admit that I have my own agenda in Dawnview Vale. It's Daxia's and Bekkah's home, there are things the GM has been hinting at since the very beginning, and I'm going to take the opportunity to explore those things. I'm happy to have the rest of you with me. If Daxia's Quest holds no interest for the rest of you, that's perfectly fine and the GM can run concurrent threads. He's done it before. It works just fine.
There was no momentum to keep moving forward in the "new" (morning) timeline. I tried. I failed. We had a tangled mess that I absolutely will not allow Wolf to create again. A proofreader is vigilant. When I put on my Copy Editor hat, I am ruthless. Sometimes, that's what the GM needs. If *I* don't know what in the world he's talking about, the chances of anyone else understanding what he's written are approximately nil. Ultimately, as it turns out, running two timelines isn't something that has been proven to work in HWD. It's best to avoid the entire problem. If the Copy Editor must be ruthless, so shall she be. I get that this Dawnview vale story is a Daxia-centric story. That's cool. It's good to have her in the game. This might even be a Bekkah thing too since the Vale is her home. That's up to Nivek and his willingness to commit to it. I understand he considers his character a sidekick despite what the rest of us think. But then there is also the change with his work that has limited some of his time as well. I certainly hope we have a Cesare-centric story to play along with in the future. As for myself, I can tell my story in any story as my character is the Data of the Heartwood.
Please do not make Keiko go away. For purely personal and selfish reasons. I get that it can be difficult running two characters and their motivations in a complex setting like HWD. But she was and still is Lyric's principle connection to this world. I cannot imagine what he might do but sit there and do nothing is not an option. ] There are several factors, some of which only the GM can answer. But to start, where would Cesare have positioned himself during the court session? Daxia would have made sure that no one was blocking her view of the court, but Cesare does have the advantage of holding her trust, so if he's in a corner in her blind spot, that's acceptable. Standing as close to her as Rishka is would be out of the question, but I think Cesare would understand that. As far as anyone is concerned, we all came into Court today to enjoy the spectacle that is Eleni's Court, or to learn something, or to teach something. While there are suspicious people among us, no one -- and I can't emphasize this strongly enough -- no one expected an attack on Daxia. Not here. Not in the Vale. My guess is that Cesare would probably be closer to Eleni's table than the door, simply because Eleni is more interesting and Cesare is a curious guy. I do have a question awaiting the GM's answer, but if I rearrange things in my head, it may not matter AND I can incorporate Cesare in my post to give him something to do. I am sure you saw it but i figure that posting it here will help us all frame things in our mind. Cesare was able to enter with the others and find a place to watch among those waiting at the back half of the hall.
It looks like the GM left plenty of wiggle room for Cesare to find his spot among the crowd While I can imagine a scene in my head after a couple readings, I am sure it is not what the GM sees. That is fine for me though, my character is somewhat stationary at Eleni's table as her guest. Kel maybe you could rough up a sketch(with GM approval of course) since this scene might have some tactical aspect for a couple of the players- that way we know where PCs and NPC are in relation to each other and the tables and such??? | | | | Joined: Jul 2011 Posts: 7,944 Sower of Insanity Member | Sower of Insanity Member Joined: Jul 2011 Posts: 7,944 | I don't really feel like I have much more of a picture of the room than this, but I hope it's what the GM had in mind and that it helps:

(Oh, so very much not to scale) Lyric (assuming she stays at the table with Eleni, would be either to Eleni's left or right. Given the nature of court politics (even Eleni's court), but also taking into consideration Eleni's personality and Daxia's influence, my understanding is that Cesare could be just about anywhere except the empty chair.
