Neil - No. There shouldn't be a black block in King Grol's room anymore. I thought I revealed the whole room. In any case you searched it all and found what was there. I mean the Northwest corner of the castle. I have revealed the area and drawn a red box around the area that hasn't been entered, or searched yet. If anyone wants to do that before you decide to leave, move yourself there. Also, Kriv did find some treasure in the Altar room that he left behind.

Bern unrolls the leather case the Doppelganger had and sees it is a map of the area around Phandalin. There is a large "X" on the map, east of Phandalin, about halfway between the town and Icespire Peak. Around the margin of the map there is dwarven writing.

He had to wonder if this was the map that Gundren had been obsessing about. He called to the dwarf, "Gundren, I may have found your map."

Ryssa


Hearing Bern's shout, Ryssa quickly gathered up the items she and Gundren had found and, taking the dwarf by the arm, dashed in the direction from which she thought Bern's voice had originated.

"Come with me, Gundren," she urged.

"Sounds like Bern found your map."

Luminmorn

The dragonborn will travel with them, to protect Gundren.

Gundren perks up when mention is made that Bern may have his map, and he rushes out to the corridor. As soon as he sees the leather map case a sigh of relief passes his lips. "Thank Moradin." He says, holding his hand out to Bern for the map.

(OOC - OK, what next? Are you going to look in the northwest, where the red box is before you leave, or are you going to leave immediately?)

He looked up as Gundren came out and asked for his map. He held the map out.

[ooc: Davroar is going to remain in his wolf form just in case, so he can't easily make his vote known to check out the unexplored area before they leave. ]

Quietly, to those within,

"Ransack the place. Leave nothing of value for these vermin. Check every room, get the silver from the shrine, everything."

Loudly, to those without,

"We go. My people in many places in here. we... Muster? Sally? join up? bring my people together in one place to go. Understand?"

DM

The Hobgoblin looks as if it is concentrating hard to understand. "My name not Sally!" It says angrily, but it waits, adding, "This many minutes!" It is holding up 5 fingers.

(OOC - Move yourself to where you want to look on the map.)

"I will stay here", he said. "I can cover all three entrances from here ... in case 'they' get too inquisitive."

Jaliera

"I'll keep watch, just to make sure there are no tricks."

She explains to Kriv so he doesn't think she is ignoring him.

Luminmorn

He nodded at the suggestion of searching. He moved off in a direction that they had not explored.

[OOC: Moved to a new location, not sure Lumi is the best person to search, but he can follow directions. ]

The Dragonborn held station to maintain the line of communication in case he needed to buy more time.

Davroar

He is a bit reluctant to leave Jaliera's side, but with the decision made to search the unexplored section of the castle, he will dash off to join Luminmorn. Perhaps his keen senses will help in uncovering anything that the goblins might have hidden.

(OOC - I moved Luminmorn and Davroar to the areas that needed searching.)

Pasing thru the Chapel and Altar room, Luminmorn and Davroar take the door in the western wall. Opening it they can see what appears to be a storeroom. Old casks and sacks fill this storage area. Pulling a few open they see the casks contain salted meat and the sacks hold rotting grain.

As they rummage around in the room, Luminmorn spots a set of bloody chain mail and an unsheathed longsword. The longsword has the emblem of Neverwinter worked into it's hilt.

(Davroar and Luminmorn both please make DC 10 Intelligence Checks.)

Luminmorn remembers that Sildar Hallwinter was a retired Knight of Neverwinter and had his gear taken from him when he and Gundren were originally captured.

Searching with Luminmorn, he will let his nose guide him for anything interesting.

Checking the barrels, Davroar's attention is drawn to one barrel that is much smaller than the others. Cracking it open, he finds that instead of salted meat, this one contains some fine dwarven brandy.

Having seen nothing else of note the two move thru the western door to the next room. This is clearly a barracks. Four straw pallets and bedrolls are lined up on the floor. Brackets on the walls hold a number of weapons - spears, swords, morningstars, and more. The north wall shows signs of damage, but the floor is swept clear of rubble.

Examining the weapons, Luminmorn and Davroar see 5 spears, 4 longswords, 3 morningstars, 2 greatswords, and a fine looking quarterstaff. The quarterstaff is engraved with stylized feathers and lifting it, Davroar finds it to be surprisingly light.

(Note: None of the weapons are magical, but the quarterstaff is very well made. It only weighs 1 pound and is worth 10 gp if sold.)

Luminmorn

The dragon born comments on the weapon and armor they found. "Sildar Hallwinter was a retired Knight of Neverwinter and had his gear taken from him when he and Gundren were originally captured, or so I remember."

If they have finished their searching, he nods towards the group, returning to them. The extra weapons will only slow them down. A staff, that would be fine, maybe the monk would like it. He leaves the other non-magical ones behind.

OK, so decision time. Are you leaving, and if so by which exit? Main doors lead west. There was a tarp covering a hole in the wall leading north and a small door leading south. Hobgobs left a path from the main doors leading west.

Chandan

"Time to go home, old friend." He says to Gundren, with an arm protectively around the dwarf's shoulders.

He escorts Gundren south to the sally port, calling to his companions in a low, whispy voice.

"Come. Come."

Once Gundren is safe and secure with Sildar, the party will have plentiful opportunity to report Castle Cragmaw to the Lords Alliance. And if They are true to their word, They will do something about it.

Ryssa


The cleric followed Chandan and the dwarf, covering their rear.

Once the decision had been made, he covered the group as they made their way out of the castle.

He brought up his shield. He swapped his sword for a javelin, in case the hobgoblins were not honorable.
