Not wanting to get stuck again he steps free of the vines while he has the chance and will cast his Faerie fire spell to try and level the playing field to prevent these goblins from hiding on them again.

First, it affects all creatures in the AOE, which means it will also affect Kriv and Luminmorn if they fail their Dex saves, not just the Goblins. So, yes, it would prevent the Goblins from hiding, but anyone affected by it is attacked w/Advantage.
Second, it covers a 20 foot cube, which means 4 squares by 4 squares. Can you specify exactly which 4x4 area you want to cover? To be precise you'd really need to center it on the intersection '+' of 4 squares, but just tell me the 4x4 area you want. It doesn't overlap like a Fireball so if part of the AOE is in a solid wall space it just doesn't do anything in that square.
You could also choose to center it far to the left so it only potentially affects Acolyte 3 & 4, and none of your own party.)

Davroar's attack crushes in the side of the Goblin's head. Luminmorn cuts deeply into the side of his opponent, staggering it. However it remains fighting. Ryssa and Jaliera go. (Ex - Ryssa would know she was out of spells so I won't penalize you by having her waste her turn. She can step out of the Entangle and attack physically (melee or range), or she can cast a Cantrip.)Status:

She does not want to get entangled, aware she may have to run back and help Chandan if the need arises. Adjusting her position slightly at the door she can see goblins. She draws back her arrow and lets fly.

Ryssa
Out of healing spells, Ryssa stepped outside the range of the entanglement spell and cast a minor spell of flame at the nearest goblin.

Jaliera steps close to the entrance, avoiding entering the entanglement. From there she can only see one of the Acolyte, but that is enough. She targets him and fires an arrow, but it sails wide. Ryssa, realizing she is out of her main spells, steps free from the entangling vines and uses a Fire Cantrip at the closest Goblin. The two remaining Acolytes fanatically attack, one against Kriv and one against Luminmorn. Even without the added protection of his magic, the Acolyte on Kriv misses. However the one attacking Luminmorn hits. Acolytes Attack Kriv. Luminmorn Zeim rolled d20+4,d6+2,d20+4,d6+2 and got 13, 7, 18, 5The shaman, now that the Acolyte between him and the Dragonborn is no more, steps backwards thru the curtain and out of sight. As he does, the entanglement near the doorway vanishes. Chandan can hear the door in front of him beginning to splinter as it is shoved from the other side. Chandan and Kriv go. Status:

Looking at the last two acolytes with unabashed contempt, Kriv shaped his claws into an arcane mudra and uttered a single word of his native tongue, expending his final non-cantrip of the day to purge the acolytes from the room, once he was sure none of his allies would get caught in the blast.
Kriv Burning Hands AJ rolled 3d6 and got 13
Without even waiting for the screams to be silenced, he moved on past the curtain, summoning the staff back to his hand as he went with a click of his fingers.
Bonus action, recall the staff again prior to going through the curtain. (Might continue move once what is past is clear.) | | | | Joined: Oct 2001 Posts: 22,206 Likes: 9 (Buffalo) Moderator | OP (Buffalo) Moderator Joined: Oct 2001 Posts: 22,206 Likes: 9 | DM (MikeD - To answer your question, yes, you can ready an action to "fire my bow at the first target I see". However your move would just reach the curtain and doesn't allow you to move past it, so the odds are you wouldn't get an attack this turn. But it's not Bern's turn, and Kriv may not choose to end his turn where he is on the map so I moved Bern back. Once Kriv finishes his turn Bern can go.)Kriv puts his hands together, fingers outspread, and jets of flame shoot from them to engulf the two remaining Acolytes. They both try to dodge out of the way, but only one is successful. However, as both had been previously damaged neither of them can withstand the damage from the flames and they drop to the ground. Acolytes Dex Saves Zeim rolled d20+4,d20+4 and got 7, 18 Without waiting for the Acolytes death throes to finish, Kriv charges ahead through the curtain and into the room beyond....., stepping into a Cloud of spinning daggers concealed behind the curtain! Kriv Damage from Cloud of Daggers Zeim rolled 4d4 and got 11Kriv (only Kriv) can see the room beyond the curtain. This chamber occupies the northern tower of the castle. A stone altasr stands in the middle of the room, covered with a bloodstained black cloth. Golden ritual implements - a chalice, a knife, and a censer - are carefully arranged on top of the altar. Two archways to the south are covered with heavy curtains. A closed wooden door leads to the west. Kriv cannot spot the Shaman, but he is experienced enough fighting Goblins by now that he knows that does not mean he is not in the room. It is just as like that he is hiding somewhere here as it is that he's fled. (AJ - I need to know where Kriv finishes his move. He can continue into the room, stepping out of the square with the spinning daggers, he can stop where he is (and will take more damage next turn if he does so), or he can step back into the room with the party.) Now that Ryssa has spent some time in the room, and the Acolytes have died, she can take in the room itself. It is a high, narrow hall that looks like it might have been a chapel at one time. Angelic figures are sculpted along the room's upper reaches, looking down on the floor. Between the two curtains leading north there is a cracked, but ornately carved stone brazier. (Ex - Please make a Religion Check, DC10) Chandan goes, then Bern. Status:

He continued through, hissing as the blades sliced his flesh, advancing to stand beside the altar, his back to the wall, getting a look in behind. He scented the blood for the tang of dwarf, on the offchance that they had failed, and called back loudly,

Having cast her minor spell, Ryssa's attention was drawn to the decorations of the room in which she stood. It looked much like an old chapel. She looked carefully at the walls around her and searched her memory for what she might remember.
It looked familiar, but...

Ryssa notes that she can identify the deities this chapel had been dedicated to before it was overrun by Goblins. She can see representations for Oghma, God of Knowledge, Mystra, Goddess of Magic, Tymore, Goddess of Luck, and even her own god, Lathander, is represented.
As she examines the elements of the room more closely, Ryssa should make a Perception check. | | | | Joined: Aug 2005 Posts: 46,267 Member | Member Joined: Aug 2005 Posts: 46,267 | Ryssa
Ryssa felt awed and more than a little humbled to be in the presence of these representations of the gods, especially of Lathander, her own chosen deity. She knelt briefly before his sculpted figure.
Then she stood, looking around to see if there was anything else she could discern from the old chapel.

Chandan shuffles to square himself in front of the shivering door, leaving enough space for it to swing.
A quick practice drill with the spear--- He nearly drops it, catching it at the last moment. With a shrug, he prepares to blockade to the doorway.
He won't alert his companions quite yet, staying quiet to hopefully surprise the door-attackers, but as soon as the surprise is sprung, he will shout a warning. | | | | Joined: May 2000 Posts: 42,160 Likes: 5 Member | Member Joined: May 2000 Posts: 42,160 Likes: 5 | <Bern>

She is alerted by Whisper that there is activity at Chandan's door.
As soon as she is able (initiative?) she will call softly to her group in the temple room.
"Trouble other door."

Hearing Jaliera's cry for assistance, the dragon born ran towards where he had last seen the drunk monk. It wasn't terribly quiet, and certainly he couldn't get to the monk, but he would be near sooner rather than later.

The cleric cocked her head slightly to one side as she caught a flash - more like a mere glint - of metal. She moved over toward the north wall and examined the brazier where she thought she'd seen the shiny article and examined the brazier as well as she could without actually touching it. | | | | Joined: Jun 2002 Posts: 10,333 Likes: 1 Administrator | Administrator Joined: Jun 2002 Posts: 10,333 Likes: 1 | Davroar
He looks to Jaliera before she is about to leave and says, “Should catch up to Kriv first. He might need some healing, then I’ll join you over there with Chandan.”
He bites his tongue in not cursing at their bad timing with the group split up as it is now.
Heeding Kriv’s warning, he will move pass Bern as he holds open the other curtain to look into the room to see where Kriv is at. Davroar will have his staff in hand and at the ready in case another sneaky goblin attempts to attack him.
Seeing Kriv still standing but at the opposite side of the room he asks, “You ok? Where are they?” | | |
