Cesare ... could be in deep trouble Only ONE of his companions is a Mouse. The other? Black mask on face, ringed hair pattern ... and specifically noted in the post before the last? That's a raccoon-kin! Don't you have raccoons in England? Wait a minute? You don't? We can import some! and while I am here, there's something I'd just like to note. The Forest Kin are actually some of the oldest native characters in The Heartwood, dating from its original College incarnation. They aren't runaways from Disney or Bluth films .... they are a homage/tribute to Cordwainer Smith's Underpeople from his Instrumentality of Mankind stories.

Apologies!
Two questions:
b) is Kadri going with Clever, Pietro and Cesare to investigate the Keep? (Escorted by the Pack)
c) is Lyric joining them or staying at Home with Keiko and Dommi? The "Come back, friend... and I will do the same" seems to hint that she is staying while the Wuffs are going.

For all intents and purposes, if it is green consider it forested. The only exception to this is a triangle in front of the dam, there is enough room to park the punts and move about before getting eaten by the Forest. The Keep Shaft is thick. There is enough space in the shaft walls for large rooms, such as living spaces, work spaces and forges. The Keep Shaft is FAR deeper than the lake itself. At the moment there appears to be no one on either bridge. However, Clever and Deer would make sure everyone stayed behind the tower top crenellations – so if there was a patrol on the top of the shaft they would not be seen. First, I believe here is a better place for these discussions and would appreciate keeping this type of discussion out of the in-game narrative.
Second, I get into enough trouble for the things I do let alone the things I don't. And in this case I haven't done anything - I gave no instruction to merge the threads. Case in point, the only direction I have given in the thread was:
a) asking one of the players if they had more to post before getting folks together; the answer was yes, they still had things to say ...
b) letting Phoenix know he didn't have to wait for me to post an answer to Keiko.
So no, I did not instruct the other players to join the Keiko-Bekkah-Lyric thread.
I do appreciate Gypsy's post. It was an active post and one that brought Cesare into a place where he could interact with other players. In general, this is a good thing and the type of forward-thinking play I like seeing in The Heartwood.
In this particular case, however, Kel is correct - the timing is a bit off. Cesare and Company are due back in the afternoon, and while Keiko and Lyric's conversation could have taken up a good bit of the morning, they should be able complete it before paths cross again.
In MY review of the situation, the folks who went out to the Keep came back and are still on the pier, with the intent of looking for the others ... and from my interpretation of what was posted, you were waiting for me to get folks back together again. Which I haven't done yet!
I was planning (and yes I've been slow because I'm still recovering from this stupid cold and have been spending my evenings under the covers) on revisiting the question whether or not Keiko and Lyric had wrapped up their conversation so that I could move them to the afternoon on the weekend post and synchronize the group once again. This is a common issue in message gaming when a party splits, so a bit of flexibility from everyone would be appreciated.
It seems from whats been posted Kel has more to say; she should be given the chance to say it. I'm sure everyone would like the same treatment for their players.
If things take longer, they'll take longer.
The ones who have just returned should remember that they do have a ton of resources at their disposal. First, three of the Forest Folk have definitely had an upgrade (grin) since they got their souls. These are three powerful resources you should be able to use in your rescue.
Clever, Broke and Lady could also be used for advice, beyond the previously mentioned Dommi and Tomomi. But you need to be a bit more particular in your questions. For example, "How do we assault the Keep?" is far too general AND it sets the responsibility for the planning in the Native Character's hands - and that never ends well. On the other other hand a question along the lines of "How many ways are their into the Keep" is more productive - in that it gets you information so you the players can make your own decisions on how to get in.
Last, don't over think things. Imagine if this were a typical dungeon adventure - you get your gear together, go in the front door, and then start exploring. In some ways this is exactly the same except you have a specific goal and you actually know a whole lot more about the Keep than most folks do before they dive into an adventure. This time you also have a potential field of supporters ... but they are supporters, not leaders.
So to summarize - it looks like Keiko and Lyric aren't quite done discussing things.
If that isn't resolved by the weekend, the folks who have just returned should return to the sources they do have to garner more information. You've scouted ... no comes the planning and the execution. | | | | Joined: May 2000 Posts: 24,742 Likes: 10 Member | Member Joined: May 2000 Posts: 24,742 Likes: 10 | need some more people posting in the 'after scouting - all' thread. | | | | Joined: Sep 2000 Posts: 61,373 Likes: 3 Arssanguinus Moderator | Arssanguinus Moderator Joined: Sep 2000 Posts: 61,373 Likes: 3 | Sorry. I guess that is between you and the gm. Sorry you feel that way. I am enjoying the game and trying do my part to help everyone else enjoy it as well. I feel, as a player i will only get something out of a game if i put something in it. You were not on my mind when I made the OOC comment. my post was more generic and not directed at any one person. Rather I was just trying to stir up a little interest (or notice) and there were three of the 6 who hadn't gotten a post into this thread. | | | | Joined: May 2000 Posts: 80,418 Likes: 77 Wizop Administrator | Wizop Administrator Joined: May 2000 Posts: 80,418 Likes: 77 | No worries, just stating for the record. | | | | Joined: Jul 2011 Posts: 5,669 Member | OP Member Joined: Jul 2011 Posts: 5,669 | as for me ... i don't mind conversations happening. I apologize that they were fast, loose and made by a very worn GM ... and hope for a mote of understanding.
