DMYou reach the southern end of the town, emerging from an overgrown field that looks as if it used to be used by a farmer to grow something, but it's last crop was years and years ago.
In front of you is a worn path masquerading as a road, and to either side are buildings. Some of the buildings look to still be in reasonable shape, worn but with all of their walls and roofs still intact, while others are merely shells of their former selves, walls with large holes where the brick and mortar have collapsed and holes where there used to be roofs. Many have trees growing out of their interiors and the grounds themselves are overgrown by thick brush.
Your eyes have been fixed on the hill in the center of the town with the tower atop it, and the large dragon atop that. At this point you can make out the colour of the dragon, a deep forest green.
The hill between you and the tower is covered with such thick brush that it looks impassable from here and your thought is that you will need to find a road or path that leads up there if you want to approach.
There is a small clearing at the top of the hill, where the tower sits, and you can see humanoid figures up there. Over a dozen of them. A little more than half of those, the ones closest to the tower, all wear odd looking cloaks and masks. These cloaks are designed to give the appearance of wings and a tail and the masks have horns protruding from their tops.
As you pause to look, the dragon suddenly drops back into the tower, out of sight, and the masked and cloaked figures turn and draw weapons, approaching the others.
