He folds his arms across his chest and it's obvious that he's shocked by the conversation.
"Huh? We were on the way to kill the dragon for the druid. Are you all getting old and forgetful? We made a deal with the druid. We chase off the dragon and he tells us how to get to the Wave Echo cave. That's why we're here, isn't it? And dragons have gold. GOLD! What's wrong with you all?"
After a moment he sighs and adds, "We can do that tomorrow I guess. Let's get a good rest and be ready for it. Maybe I'll scout out the area by my sneaky self and we can come up with a good plan of attack for tomorrow.
"OK so it sounds like we are all in agreement. We will rest for the night ... while Ling goes off to kill the dragon", he said all serious, then grinning as he gave Luminmorn and Balthazar a wink.
"We are all going to be right here", he said. "And, just to be clear, if you get yourself killed, I will =not= be happy with you", he said sounding deadly serious.
He thanks the others for their concern and then disappears into the brush. He sneaks forward towards the tower, careful that his footsteps and staying out of any buildings.
How many stealth rolls do you want? Here are 3: Lingo Stealthy Neptune rolled 1d20+7,1d20+7,1d20+7 and got 27, 17, 24
(OOC - Give me an initial destination. Are you planning to move right up next to the tower, presuming nothing happens and you don't see anything beforehand? I know you said "towards" the tower, but if nothing interferes, how close?)
He is not happy with the Halfling going off on his own but he needs to study and rest to get his more powerful spells back so he finds a place to prompt up his back and gets out his tome to peruse.
OOC: So he's going to move along the path of the red line. He'll stop there and should be able to see the door. Staying stealthy, he'll use his mage hand to open the door from afar. What does he see? if you need a perception roll.... Lingo perception Neptune rolled 1d20+3 and got 20
While everyone else settles in for some rest Lingo heads off into the twilight to explore the tower.
Heading up the road he notes it is unusually quiet. Even the insects make no noise. He moves from tree to tree, trying to be as stealthy as possible. Unfortunately he cannot cut through the woods as he wanted as it is an impassable brier, so he has to follow the road. Still, he stays to the side as much as he can.
Nothing jumps out at him as he moves, though he half-expects something to do exactly that.
At the top of the hill stands a round tower with a cottage attached. Both are in good shape, although half of the tower's roof is gone. A closed door leads into the cottage and several arrow slit windows are visible in the tower, in a circling pattern going up to the top.
Lingo can't help but notice a strange, acrid smell in the air, in addition to the unnatural quiet.
The corpses of 2 hideous giant spiders are sprawled near the edge of the pathway, apparently dragged there. Their bloated bodies are puckered and blistered and appear to have been mauled by a large animal.
From the top of the hill, Lingo has a good view of the rest of the town. He can see on the east side of town the lane opens up to form a small square. Several ruined buildings surround the south side of the square, but a larger, intact structure to the north looks like a barracks.
One lane leads southeast, another heads southwest around the hill upon which Lingo stands, while a third meanders north.
In the middle of the square, leaning to one side ever so slightly, is a weathered wooden statue of a warrior clutching a spear and shield.
At the southeastern edge of the town is a small farmhouse that appears to be intact and in good shape.
OOC - Lingo - Make an Intelligence (Investigation) check. It has been roughly 15 minutes so far.

A few minutes after Lingo 'wanders off', Bern gets up and moves outside their 'abode' for the evening. Standing to the east of the door, he watched and listened. It the little bugger got into trouble, hopefully he would be able to hear something at least.
Ryssa frowned at Lingo when the little one left the group and sat back against the wall of the building they were in, closed her eyes and studied over her prayers and potential spells for the following day.
She heard movement and got to her feet when she saw the ranger move outside. Ryssa stood and followed him. She stood beside Bern and stared out into the darkness, her senses reaching for any sound or movement.
He heard the movement within, so was not surprised when Ryssa joined him.
"Hopefully he will make enough noise that we will be able to hear if he gets in over his head. And while I am not happy that he went off on his own, it seemed like it was something he needed to do", he said with a shrug.
Having seen nothing from his hidden perch, the halfling continues to scout the tower, never once stepping out of the thickets into the open. He avoids the spiders. He circles the building, looking for any sign of the dragon. When he sees a door, he opens it from afar with his spectral hand, to see if anything rushes out. He keeps all the doors wide open.
OOC: Lingo did not step in the open as the DM map indicates. He doesn't get closer than 15 feet of a door at any time. Let me know what rolls to make.
Sorry, but the path indicated is impossible. The woods are thick briers and are an impassable boundary. Lingo has no choice but to skirt the edge of the woods, near to the path, as the DM map indicates. If you choose to not explore unless he can sneak through the woods we will assume he stayed back with the others in the building once he saw he could not pass through the woods.
He sat and mended small tears in his clothing, content to be patient and wait. He had just had an ordeal after all, the poison might be out of his system, but he still imagined he was sluggish.
Nep - As noted above, the path you indicated for Lingo is impossible. The woods are thick briers and are an impassable boundary. Lingo has no choice but to skirt the edge of the woods, near to the path, as the DM map indicates. Presuming that happens, he is with his back to the woods, at the edge of the path the whole time. Still, nothing appears so far.
If he is trying to open the doors with his Mage Hand I need a Stealth Check for both doors to see if he can do so without making a lot of noise.
Both doors resist opening by Lingo's Mage Hand and he realizes that in order to open them he'd have to force them open, which is certain to make plenty of noise.
(OOC - So, do you want to wrench them open, try to climb the tower, or move on to other areas of the town? He doesn't see a dragon, though something big killed those two giant spiders outside the front door. It has been about an hour.)
The party sees Lingo (only if he wants them to ) return after about an hour away. Feel free to discuss.
I need to know a couple of things, i.e. are you laying low in this building until morning, and if so are you posting a guard (outside or inside) during the night, OR are you doing anything during the darkness?
Then, if you choose to rest, I need you to all recover your hit points back to full and to re-memorize your spells. PLEASE update the "All Spellcasters" Thread with your new spell lists, and try to keep it up to date so we all know what each spellcasters status is.
Remember, the list you choose is simply the sub-list of spells from which you may choose to use your spell slots on during the day. You can choose any spell from among that list until your spell slots are expired.
