(OOC - need input here from you guys. Replies to Ryssa and actions you wish to take. Also, while Ryssa's comment is accurate there is more in the note to be found.)
"So it would seem that the 'altercation' with these thugs was not an accident", he said quietly after reading the note. "Not sure that really means much ... except maybe adding another reason shut these guys down", he finished with a shrug. He went back to listening.
"Someone more important and more powerful than the guy we are chasing now. Regardless we are waiting too long. He is getting away, if our goal is to catch him and either interrogate or kill him."
"Well, Sildar didn't paint me no picture of that guy...what's his name? Inaro Albreck? So, if you see someone, ask him if he's Inaro before you stick him with that pointy sword of yours. But it's important. Sildar said we would get 200 gold pieces if we find out what happened to Inaro. That amount of gold can buy you a lot of baths. We could keep you clean for months. "
It was a bit disappointing ... and rather small. "Do you suppose there is another secret door behind the secret door", he asked quietly. Someone =might= be listening. He =had= heard someone moving in here.
And Bern quickly notices another secret door on the opposite side of the area.
(OK, I kind of need to know your intentions here. If you are trying to chase after someone then I have to presume you are not taking precautions and are moving as quickly as possible, i.e. using the Dash action when possible and not stopping to explore rooms you pass through. If you are simply going this way, but don't intend to try to catch up to somebody, I need to know as well. So?)
This place was =way= too complicated, he thought as he saw what looked like the other ... or was it the =next= secret door. "Lingo, would you look for any nasties on that door. Might be nice to see how it opens as well", he said with a wink.
He is silent and waits. While he wants to rush after the wizard to prevent escape, he doesn't want to run into a trap or ambush. Guess the wizard will get away. That he thinks is unfortunate.
Although she did not have time to search the small secret room thoroughly, the cleric did glance around to see if there were any obvious interesting things while the others checked out the next door.
The hobbit then walks over to the door to study it and see if it's trapped. He then steps back a distance and stands behind the nearest physical cover he can find - whether or not he finds a trap. Only then does he proceed to either remove the trap he found and then unlock and then open the door.
Lingo Perception/Disable Trap/Pick Lock (last 2 if needed) Neptune rolled 1d20+3,1d20+5,1d20+5 and got 19, 23, 19
But before walking out, he studies the room very carefully, looking for bling.
Lingo Looking for bling Neptune rolled 1d20+4 and got 23 Dice roller is liking me! Time to start an encounter in the N-game
Lingo With the door deemed safe and unlocked, the halfling pushed the door open with his invisible mage hand. He was glad that he didn't have to be up front to that.
Opening the next Secret Door reveals the rest of the area to the north of the natural cavern where you encountered the Nothic. This area, however, is finished with dressed stone blocks and a flagstone floor. Several barrels are stored against the wall here, along with a number of empty crates, straw for packing, hammers, pry bars, and nails. The cavern opens up to the south, back to the area you came from earlier.
