The Goblin comes out and stands up, as he answers Ryssa he unconsciously takes several steps back until he bumps into the wall behind him. "I Droop. Droop helpful. Help everyone." Time to see what they could discover about this place and those that infest it. He begins searching the bodies and the area. Papers ... maps, orders ... anything with information about this place and the inhabitants. Weapons were next on the list. Were there any exceptional weapons ... and a few extra arrows would be helpful.
Finally, if there were any valuables, those would be worth taking stock of as well.

Bern searches the rooms and the bodies a second time to make sure nothing was missed. Other than the valuables and the key already found there is nothing else of interest. None of the foes had bows so his search for more arrows comes up empty.
Droop pulls his hand away from Ryssa's pack as if he was burned, and his face matches his name as it droops in sad disappointment.
It perks back up again, though, when Ryssa asks her question. "Yes, yes! Droop help!" He shakes his head up and down so hard there is real fear he might injure himself.
"Glassstick....., um no. Not right. Um, Ironstaff? No." He glances at Ryssa helpelessly. "Maybe you know name?"

Did we not go over how it worked then? I don't recall. Anyway, you do need to choose your spells for the day. It is not so much memorization as picking the list of spells from which you can cast. You can then choose from among that more limited list when you want to cast a spell. Here's the rule: The Paladin table shows how many spell slots you have to cast your spells. To cast one of your paladin spells of 1st level or higher you must expend a spell slot of the spell's level or higher. You regain all expended spell slots when you finish a long rest.
You prepare the list of paladin spells that are available to you to cast, choosing from among the paladin spell list. When you do so, choose a number of spells equal to your CHA modifier + half your paladin level rounded down. The spells must be of a level for which you have spell slots.
For example, if you are a 5th level paladin you have 4 1st level and 2 2nd level slots. With a CHA of 14 your list of prepared spells can include 4 spells of 1st or 2nd level in any combination. So, you get 3 1st level spells you can choose from the Paladin spell list. Once you choose those 3 that's your options for the day. You can cast any of the 3, any combination of times, until you've cast 3 spells total.)
