I have a friend who reads it every October, traditionally by following the dates in the book. I haven't become that fanatical yet but it is one of few books I have read multiple times.

There are three Professor Challenger novels and two short stories and scads of pastiches, my favorite being Sherlock Holmes's War of the Worlds by Manly Wade Wellman, which I may still use at right moment. It's Holmes and Challenger vs Well's Martians but I need an 'r' at moment so will go with the work that coined the phrase 'robot', if I am not mistaken.
R.U.R. [Rossum's Universal Robot(s)] by Karel Capek
so the next one up is an 's'. | | | | Joined: May 2000 Posts: 27,779 Likes: 1 Member | Member Joined: May 2000 Posts: 27,779 Likes: 1 | Brilliant! (Technically a play, but I'm not quibbling.)

The Night Watc[h] - by Sergei Lukyanenko
(If you not looked at this series - Night Watch is the first, you may want to. The first several books are translated into English from the Russian. Light and Darkness live together - sort of. The forces of Light man the Night Watch keeping things in check and the reverse is true as well.) | | |
