I was trying to remember how to change the size of a displayed image. I saw the thread in this forum, but it doesn't show the way to change the image size for display, only that it is possible.

What is the format to do so?

It is so long since I did anything with resizing that I can't remember!

Perhaps one of the other sysops might remember, especially Neil our graphics expert?

I don't think you can anymore. An older version of the forum's software allowed us to see 3 different generic size options from the gallery view. You clicked the option and you saw three different [img]tags with size.

There was an upgrade to DL's UBB code and that option went away and we got the new shiny version we have today.

I think you have to resize images in an editor program then upload them now.

Behind the scenes- when you upload a picture to the forum- it actually puts that picture into 3 locations and does a 'sizing' for each- Full / Medium / Thumbs- These 3 files, in their respective folders, are tucked away and the forum presents you with the the 'full' option for your viewing and posting needs.

The ability get to these other options is still there- you just have to sneak your way into it- after some experimenting i figured it out

1) go to your gallery
2) select the picture you want to add to your post/message/thread
3) right click on pic and 'open image in new tab'
4) capture the url from the new window
5) go back to your post- choose 'insert image link' button to get the small window that creates your [img] [/img] tag- then paste in the url
6) change 'full'(default) to 'medium' or 'thumbs' (you have to manually type this in)


BTW- not to confuse anyone- i inserted the URL alone so you see it as a hyperlink - that way you can see the difference in the code-
then i also put the url into [img] tags so you can see the result

Was there a recent change in how "Use Full Editor" acts?

Specifically, I've regularly gone through the following steps in the "Again" forum:
- quote a previous thread (the die roll)
- clicked full reply, getting a blank page (expected)
- clicked back button on my browser
- clicked full reply (again), getting the blank entry but with the first post (and it's associated embedded image) displayed

I realize this may have been broken behavior that I enjoyed, that was finally "fixed" (making it less useful, bah!) but if is the case I'm mostly curious as to whether it was intenional. Given the need for a two-step "not there, let me hack it, there it is" process I'm not sure it was ever intended behaviour, but I liked it.

There have been no updates or changes for a long time so I am surprised that you are reporting one. Are you sure you did the same thing as before?

Tusk says he has done a recent data cleanup.. maybe it is his fault?

No, but the behaviour is now back to how it was, so.... I probably didn't. Or my browser was doing something strange.

The specific situation:
- With an empty Quick reply box, clicking "Use Full Editor" quotes the original thread post. (In Again, the current board is linked there.)
- When you hit "Quote" on a previous message (I do this for whoever has rolled) the first time you hit Use Full Editor it shows the message you're replying to.

This is I believe the intended, programmed behavior.

Previously I could work around this by using the back button on my browser and hitting "Use Full Editor" again.

That still sometimes works, and sometimes doesn't.

How weird. I've never noticed this behaviour. Tusk thinks it is browser related, maybe to what you previously had in your browser. Or maybe cookies? We regularly use a 'tidy' programme which clears out this stuff.

I'm sure it's something browser (or its plugins) related, and how the "Use Full Editor" button deals with forms. I'll keep playing with it.
