PUBLIC FINALLY USES ITS IMAGINATION FOR SOMETHING USEFUL

I have to admit, and don't expect to hear me say this often, the response to our SM:BND ACRO Challenge exceeded expectations.
Eight entries crossed my desk. Eight! That's eight examples proving New Yorkers are capable of thinking about something besides a certain web slinging publicity stunt in red and blue leotards.
For one glorious moment, the letters SM:BND belong to the people again!
Instead of another story about webs, wall-crawling, or mysterious sticky substances coating city infrastructure, I was treated to imagination, creativity, and more than a few chuckles. Some entries were clever. Others were downright inspired. One was so insspired I nearly promoted the writer to Assistant Editor.
Nearly.
To everyone who submitted: thank you. You've demonstrated that five little letters can stand for far more than one masked menace with an unhealthy need for attention.
Now, if only we could convince the rest of this city to stop putting Spider-Man on every front page, billboard, souvenir mug, lunchbox, breakfast cereal, and social media feed...
But I suppose miracles can only happen one contest at a time.
Congratulations to all of our participants! You've earned the admiration of the Bugle staff...
