DreamLyrics™ Play-by-Post Forums Modern/Historical DUC: Durham University Campus Competition Monday: Round 1 knock outs

The group need to split into two so that some keep the table whilst other get food and then change over.

There are quite a few dishes on offer:

- Sweet and sour pork
- egg fried rice (vegetarian)
- Spicy noodles (vegetarian)
- Thai green curry (vegetarian)
- spring rolls (vegetarian)
- prawn crackers
- chicken satay
- beef in black bean sauce

When it is her turn Miranda selects chicken satay, egg fried rice and a spring roll.

{Skye}

"I'll take the spicy noodles, spring roll, and chicken satay." After very deliberate internal consultation, Skye declares to no one it seems. "What...I was thinking what's good for training." She laughs and comes back with a generous portion.

Ian

Ian observes the dishes noting a few were Thai and Malaysian but still found at most Chinese restaurants. "Damn no General Tso's," he grumbles. "I'll wait at the table if you want to get your food."

{Skye}

"Thanks, Ian. Be back soon."

Emma

Emma takes the prawn cracks and a bit of the chick satay and heads to the table, giving someone else a chance to go get some food. Sitting down she looks around the room, smiles and waits for the others before tucking in.

Ian

"How are the prawn crackers? They tend to be hit or miss if you know what I mean." But Ian waits until another of his group comes back before heading in the fray.

Emma

Em offers Ian one so he can try for himself. "I think they are good, I am not sure what I was expecting, but... I like them."

Henri

He gets up to get a plate when the others go and return. Unable to fully decide on what to eat, he takes a small amount of each except for the beef in the black bean sauce. Black beans is something he is not overly fond of.
When it looks like everyone has something he will start enjoying his food too.

The food is good, maybe not the best they have had but for a campus cafeteria it has a lot to reccommend it.

"Hey, not bad!"

Is Miranda's verdict once she pauses her eating long enough to talk.

"So are we heading back to the karaoke bar we went to before?"

{Skye}

Back at the table, they're all comparing the food. Skye nods with Miranda. "Better than I expected. Or, maybe I'm just famished from all the action today." She laughs slightly. "I'm still up for bad singing."

Ian

Ian returns after getting his own plate. A little of everything and some extra prawn crackers. He offers Emma some.

Emma

"Replacement cracker?' Emma grins as she took the prawn cracker. "Thank you."

Henri

Around a half-full mouth of food, he replies to Miranda, "Sounds good to me."

Going back to the same place will probably feel a little less daunting for him to sing there.

[OOC: yes. sorry. you would think I would have been more food engaged. huge work stresses right now.]

With hunger more than satisfied and a good competition round behind them, the group set out for the karaoke bar looking forward to an evening's fun and relaxation. The set up is the same as last time, same DJ, same small stage but not as crowded this time as it is earlier than before. Obviously quite a few yet to arrive. They have a choice of tables. One near tge stage, one in the centre and two at the back of the room, one near the bar. The karaoke doesn't seem to have started yet but the DJ is keeping up the atmosphere with some good soft rock anthems such as 'Livin' on a Prayer' and 'We built this City'. Most folks are singing along to the lyrics, almost word perfect.

Ian

"Guess we're a little early." He looks around. "Pool anyone?"

She felt better after eating - and was still surprised that it was better than expected. **I mean, really.** she thought snobbily as a world traveller and Asian. **Chinese food in Britain!** But - now she was ready to sing. She'd called Levon when he hadn't shown up for dinner -- and he said he'd catch up. He wanted to work out a bit longer, since he wasn't as pleased with his performance as he'd wanted.

"Fine. I'd hoped I'd worn you out...but sounds like I'll have to work on that...." She laughed back at him. "See you later at the karaoke bar!"

It was a little mellow at the bar - so Skye was game for Ian's suggestion. "I used to hustle at the bases my father was stationed at." She warned him. "But I usually had to talk my way out of paying for my losses - I mean I was just a kid!"

Emma

"I turn cue balls into deadly weapons, so I think I will just watch."

Levon

"Pool? Sure! Love it."

ooc: Finally back. Italy was fun.

{Skye}

Skye laughed at Emma's response and nodded in complete agreement. Suddenly Levon's resonate voice came over the group. "There you are!" Skye looped her arms around him. "I was about to start flirting with girls again! Okay...still might if you get me some whiskey!" He wasn't sure if she was serious or not.

[OOC: Welcome back. Sounds like an incredible trip. Jealous of you all! Though I do get to do NYC over my birthday!]

Levon
"Flirt all ya want - but promise to share!" he said to Skye as he grabbed her and pulled her close. "Whiskey to whet your whistle?" he puckers up to whistle but he couldn't resist diving in for a kiss anyway.
