So I guess they are reusable in theory. I was thinking more like, since each one is a distinct dungeon, would you ever reuse it in practice? | | | | | Joined: May 2000 Posts: 11,390 Likes: 7 Administrator | OP Administrator Joined: May 2000 Posts: 11,390 Likes: 7 | Well, that's just the raw map; the contents would be added by the GM each time. Also, those are double-sided. | | | | | Joined: May 2000 Posts: 83,825 Likes: 116 Wizop Administrator | Wizop Administrator Joined: May 2000 Posts: 83,825 Likes: 116 | And you could blank out sections to change shape, access routes etc. | | | | | Joined: May 2000 Posts: 13,300 Likes: 11 Wobbly Headed Administrator | Wobbly Headed Administrator Joined: May 2000 Posts: 13,300 Likes: 11 | True true. Often times you just need to quickly slap down a room for a quick reference, and the mats have plenty of choice. You could blank off doorways that aren't relevant to the combat, like you suggested, Gypsy. Taking that approach, you have nice, foldable Swiss Army knife. Double-sided too, like you say, Argus. | | | | | Joined: May 2000 Posts: 11,390 Likes: 7 Administrator | OP Administrator Joined: May 2000 Posts: 11,390 Likes: 7 | FebruaryMonte Cook GamesThe Darkest Woods Paizo PublishingPathfinder Dark Archive (Remastered) Pathfinder Season of Ghosts Adventure Pathfinder Battlecry! (My poor brain-cell!) What is Warhammer: The Old World Roleplaying Game and how is it different from Warhammer Fantasy Roleplaying Game (same publisher)?? | | | | | Joined: May 2000 Posts: 13,300 Likes: 11 Wobbly Headed Administrator | Wobbly Headed Administrator Joined: May 2000 Posts: 13,300 Likes: 11 | Thanks, Argus! This is is why I always look forward to your monthly posts. Honestly, this game slipped completely under my radar. I guess Games Workshop wanted a tie-in to their retro Warhammer: Old World war game. The system seems quite tolerable too. Slick and modern, unlike Warhammer Fantasy Roleplay which is of its time. (Nowt wrong with old school systems, they're just not what I'm looking for nowadays.) | | | | | Joined: Dec 2020 Posts: 2,646 Likes: 12 Moderator | Moderator Joined: Dec 2020 Posts: 2,646 Likes: 12 | I love the 4e WFRP. I feel like Cubicle 7 did a fantastic job. But I wish they'd publish more material for it. So I was a bit frustrated that they'd been pouring a lot of energy into W:tOW.
But, I honestly have enough to keep my campaign going for 10-15 years already. I just love their stuff. | | | | | Joined: May 2000 Posts: 13,300 Likes: 11 Wobbly Headed Administrator | Wobbly Headed Administrator Joined: May 2000 Posts: 13,300 Likes: 11 | Did you ever play WFRP 3rd Ed, Vryx? I know it was slammed by fans for scrapping the original system but the new system formed the basis of FFG's Genesys system, which had some novel ideas. | | | | | Joined: Dec 2020 Posts: 2,646 Likes: 12 Moderator | Moderator Joined: Dec 2020 Posts: 2,646 Likes: 12 | I had not, nem. I'd always wanted to dig in to 1E WFRP so I was really excited that 4E was continuing in that vein with the same art style. | | | | | Joined: May 2000 Posts: 13,300 Likes: 11 Wobbly Headed Administrator | Wobbly Headed Administrator Joined: May 2000 Posts: 13,300 Likes: 11 | It's great that it is still published and supported in a form so close to the original. Not many of the classics can claim that.
I'm heading down to a Warhammer store tomorrow so I'll find out if they're supporting the Cubicle 7 games in-store. | | | | | Joined: May 2000 Posts: 11,390 Likes: 7 Administrator | OP Administrator Joined: May 2000 Posts: 11,390 Likes: 7 | AprilCubicle 7Warhammer: the Old World Roleplaying Game, Player's Guide Warhammer: the Old World Roleplaying Game, Gamemaster's Guide Darrington PressDaggerheart Class Packs Mongoose PublishingTraveller: Cluster Truck Paranoia: Water, Water, Everywhere Monte Cook GamesThe Magnus Archives: Make Your Statement Paizo PublishingStarfinder Galactic Ancestries Pathfinder Lost Omens: Hellfire Dispatches Pathfinder Monster Core 2 Pawn Box Pathfinder Flip-Mat: Ravages of War Renegade Game StudiosMycologist’s Primer | | | | | Joined: May 2000 Posts: 13,300 Likes: 11 Wobbly Headed Administrator | Wobbly Headed Administrator Joined: May 2000 Posts: 13,300 Likes: 11 | I'm looking forward to getting my hands on Warhammer: The Old World Roleplaying Game. It's running late though, books should've been on the shelves in Q1. The Magnus Archives intrigued me. I think there are two things of note about it. Firstly, it's based on a popular fiction podcast that ran for five seasons. I've never listened to it but that it's basically a radio show and has a strong following is marvellous. Secondly, when a supernatural horror goes for the Lovecraftian approach without being Lovecraft. What a challenge they set for themselves! How do you create a terrifying, chaos and madness-inducing mythos without clashing with Lovecraft? Like, if real-world investigators discovered a hostile extradimensional god, there's a strong chance they'd codename it Cthulhu. Or Gozer. | | | | | Joined: May 2000 Posts: 11,390 Likes: 7 Administrator | OP Administrator Joined: May 2000 Posts: 11,390 Likes: 7 | MayCubicle 7Warhammer 40,000 Roleplay: Imperium Maledictum, Voll Adventures Paizo PublishingPathfinder Beginner Box: Secrets of the Unlit Star Pathfinder Adventure: Troubles in Grayce Pathfinder Flip-Mat: Training Grounds Starfinder Adventure: Tales from the Vast Starfinder: Condition Card Deck Renegade Game StudiosWerewolf: The Apocalypse 5th Edition Roleplaying Game The Coming Destruction Chronicle Werewolf: The Apocalypse 5th Edition Roleplaying Game Chronicle of the Black Labyrinth Hunter: The Reckoning 5th Edition Roleplaying Game Legacy of Defiance Sourcebook | | | | | Joined: May 2000 Posts: 13,300 Likes: 11 Wobbly Headed Administrator | Wobbly Headed Administrator Joined: May 2000 Posts: 13,300 Likes: 11 | Quite a few of the releases are delayed at the moment with printed products coming from China. If I've always thought, if I was to publish an RPG I'd take great pride in having it printed in the UK. I worked at a printers in Coventry when I left college. It's gone now though. Alas. How about in the USA? Back in the Nineties the printing was done across the border in Canada iirc. We can assume domestic printing in UK or USA is more expensive but I'm curious as to how much more expensive. If a Players Handbook is $40 retail when printed in China, how much would it be if printed in the USA I wonder? A quick word of caution for Brits about buying physical products from Cubicle 7. Although they're printed in China, they're shipped to Cubicle 7 in the States first then back across the Pond to the UK. The price you pay on Cubicle 7's site does not include import duty, which is completely fine imo, but some UK customers didn't realise import duty is the importer's responsibility. | | | | | Joined: May 2000 Posts: 11,390 Likes: 7 Administrator | OP Administrator Joined: May 2000 Posts: 11,390 Likes: 7 | JuneMonte Cook GamesOld Gods of Appalachia: Come Hell or High Water Paizo PublishingPathfinder Flip-Mat: Wilderness Camp Starfinder Flip-Mat: Vast Worlds Multi-Pack | | |
