Alagar turns his head, eyes not blinking, to the dragonborn. "We hear that he has been seen in the Evermoors chasing giants there."

Zhu


She nods. "Not out of our way then." She adds. She looks to the others. "Do we have aught else to discuss?"

(OOC - Just trying to move things along.)

Kriv

Satisfied with the utility of what they had learned, Kriv glanced at the others.

Aubric

"Any others in your ... alliance, or other contacts that our hosts can give us?" the cleric directs to Kriv, although the intent to ask the others is clear.

DM

Cryxlaw turn to Aubric. "There is no alliance. You benefit from our knowledge and our selfish desire to remove a nuisance."

Then, together, he and Algar say simultaneously, "Amrath will show you out. You may collect your weapons on the way."

That seems to be the end of the conversation as they both glare at you coldly.

(OOC - "Alliance" comment was directed at Kriv I believe.)

Kriv

“I believe he was addressing me. Thank you for your hospitality, we will see to resolving matters of mutual interest.”

Formalities observed, the noble accepted the dismissal with equanimity.

Zhu

Still frowning at the whole situation, she follows Kriv out of the room.

Sindar

He had been silent the entire time. Usually, he was verbose, but the hosts were disquieting to say the least, and he didn't want to complicate their situation with his off-brand of humor. Though he did listen and learn a few things from the discussion. He to made his way from the lord's keep back out into the world of light.

(OOC - Are we waiting for anything?)

OOC: Santa.

ooc: You're all waiting on me. It's been a busy, busy week.

DM
The four gather their weapons and follow the dwarf out to the entry vestibule where he moves to the front door and with nary a word lets opens it to let you out. Any questions asked of him are answered curtly, with a fake smile, almost rudely, "What do I know?" or "Why didn't you ask the Lords?" or a simple, "I have no clue." He ushers you out of the keep and then closes the door and you can hear the door locking behind. Now standing outside the keep, the foursome are able to talk amongst themselves and decide what to do next.

Zhu

Turning to glance back as the door closes, the frown never left her face. She turns back to the group with a shrug. "Well, shall we head onwards then after the Dwarf? We should ask after the Frost Giant as we go too I suppose."

Kriv

A curt nod in the human fashion from the Dragonborn in assent.

Aubric

"Sounds good to me," the cleric nods.

ooc: The other party is probably a few days ahead because they traveled. We'll catch up soon. Let's get there...
DM
The day was getting long and in the time the four heroes had spent in the keep, a crisp afternoon had turned chilly as nightfall approached. As they make their way down the hill from the Lord's Keep, they can tell that that the villagers take their own warnings to stay off the streets at night very seriously. Most of the carts and wagons that were busy earlier were now either gone or leaving. In their place autumn leaves swirl in the somewhat brisk wind.

With the horses and wagon are currently in the stable behind the inn. Unless there's a decision to leave town immediately, the warmth of the inn was inviting.

Zhu

She'd like to get going as soon as possible, but she supposes there's no reason to risk a confrontation that the others seem to prefer to avoid. "Should we leave first thing in the morning then?" She asks.

Aubric

"If we stay, I'd like to apologize to the hunters we may offended, and perhaps collect any information we can from their travels and exploits today. I'll buy them a round if it helps," the Cleric offers.

"And don't forget our plan to update the other party with an evening message. Twenty-five words so let's make them count."

Zhu

"Well, the information about the Frost Giant seems most pertinent so how about: 'Leaving in morning. Possible Frost Giant Ally - Harshnag in area.'" She pauses. "That's only 10. What else?"

Aubric

"Our destination, that's another two words," Aubric smiles. "Anything we want to know from them? We could ask a brief question."

Kriv

"'Pertinent information?' Should cover anything useful in just two words." The scholar noted.

DM
The four chat about their message to the others and make their way to the White Hart Inn. As it was last night, the windows, like all the others in town, were already shuttered. They make their way through the large front double doors and enter the vestibule. It isn't raining like the night before but the contrast between the chill outside and the warmth inside is stark.

The animated broom that keeps things tidy sweeps after the leaves that flew in with a small gust as the doors were open when they walk in. Unlike the night before, there are no shoes or boots on the floor, an indication that it was alright to enter as-is but there were warm cloaks hanging on the pegs of the vestibule.

A familiar face, Avgar Filroy, the short, stocky innkeeper, meets them. "Greetings! Welcome back!" He looks past them and says, "Just the four of you today? I'm so sorry. I grieve with you and mourn the loss of your companions." Clearly he thinks that the others have died.

Zhu

"Indeed. They are now traveling to a better place." She says, leaving the interpretation of that vague statement to the man. "I think we'll require rooms for another night."

Sindar

He listens thinking his own thoughts but saying little. He nods in agreement with leaving in the morning, it seems more sensible.

At the inn he shruggs off his warm outer layer to bask in the warmth.
