I will not be posting Sunday through Tuesday as I am hosting a dinner party for 9 on the Sunday, then some guests are staying on until Wednesday morning.

Trying to catch up today but have an appointment to see solicitor this afternoon. Already short of time. I'll finish catch up by the weekend.

Road trip this weekend, middle child is one of the leads in a play at her college.

With 12 hours on the road in 2 days, plus family time, unlikely to be on laptop to update game boards but will check in by phone often.

No, I have tried emailing a few times but had no response. Although I hope I'm wrong, I think he might have died as he was here consistently on a daily basis.

Sadly I suspect you're right. I don't suppose he has any family or friends we could ask?

That makes me sad... I was hoping he was just busy or off on an amazing adventure.

I tried using one of those search apps online for a Michael Durant living in Fort Wayne Indiana (and trying to skip all the references to Michael Durant who was a soldier captured in Mogadishu of 'Black Hawk Down' fame), and the app says it has gathered info, but of course they want you to purchase a subscription to see the data and I don't know how reliable any of it would be. I wonder if we could search Obituaries for that city?

I feel like I'm usually able to find notices but have not been able to yet. Possible he might be recovering somewhere? I hope so.

And my next round of guests arrived today and a only leaving on Tuesday. Not much time to post but I'll squeeze in some.

Perhaps sending an email to Indiana Health Department might provide help finding out about MikeD?

Really appreciate all the ideas guys. Likely it will need to be someone from USA making enquiries. Hope we find out. At least we could remember him anually. Like Vryx and everyone, I hope he is OK somewhere but a sudden prolonged absence with no warning of anything.. one day posting and enjoying one of his beers.. the next, nothing. Well it leads us to the most likely explanation.

I tried their Customer Service line but no way to speak to anyone. I've sent an email to their public records department.

Perhaps we could have a private listing with phone numbers of contacts if people were willing. Something Gypsy could keep separate somewhere. I would be more than happy to provide such.

There is a field in your profiles entitled User Notes. Only seen by the member or a sysop. Interestingly Ken you have a phone number listed in it. MikeD's is blank.

Gypsy - Just looked and I see no field labelled "User Notes" in my Profile? There's fields for all sorts of other things like Facebook etc., and there's a box labelled "Signature" but nothing I see for a Contact phone?

Just had a look at yours Zeim and I have a phone number for your wife and your father, I guess I should remove the latter? I think we did this a few years back when we 'lost' someone else. And I have confirmed only sysops can see the info which means that we have to add it too.

Happy to do that for members who want to give us a contact in case they disappear. Hopefully we won't need to use them but like in MikeD's case, it can be useful.

So, status update on my questions for IN Records Department. They won't send me a Death Certificate unless I pay them. I told them I didn't want a Death Certificate, I just wanted confirmation that he had passed. I am not hopeful I'll get that without paying. Not to mention, I suspect to get a Death Certificate I would need Mike's address, which I don't have. Does anyone here have it?

This comes as a good news/bad news kind of thing.

Believe it or not I spoke with MikeD on the phone. I just happened to try finding him for the 5th or 6th time and got lucky, finding a cell number. (Gypsy I'll send you a PM with more info).

I think he has serious dementia/alzheimer's and doesn't remember much. I asked him some questions like "Were you a magician?" and "Do you know what DreamLyrics is?" and "Do you do roleplaying?" and "Do the names Neptune and Gypsy sound familiar?"

His answers lead me to believe that it was, indeed, Mike. They were "I was a magician a long time ago", "I was a member of DreamLyrics once a long time ago" and "Those names sound familiar", "I used to do roleplaying".

Sadly, I knew he was losing his memory a while ago but it must have accelerated. We had discussed his fading memory as he clung to the game I'm running but when he disappeared I think it was partly embarrassment which, when on the fringes of the malady are common. My father had Alzheimer's and went through this stage. He also lasted several more years. When my father finally passed he could not talk, eat solids or walk. At the stage I'm guessing Mike's at, it was like when he asked my mother about my wife and I "Who is that nice couple?" when visiting my home.

It's sad but it could be sadder. Some might say this is worse but I'm not one of those people. He did not sound sad or angry. Some people, when they get deeper into the malady become depressed and angry.

Update: I confirmed that it is, indeed Mike that I spoke to. I tracked down his son Geoff and he confirmed that Mike's mind is not quite what it was. I gave him the URL for DreamLyrics and he'll probably visit to post about MikeD.

Many thanks Nep. I had suspected something like this towards the latter stages of his posting, but the disappearance seemed very sudden. Indeed good news/bad news.

I will be traveling to Florida for the rest of this week. May not be able to post until the weekend.

It is good to know he is still alive. Maybe still enjoying an occasional beer. I wish him well. Hardest for the family though. My Uncle has Altzheimer's.
