OK, so from my reading of the thread I had believed that Jaliera. Davroar et al had already left for their mission BEFORE the conversation between Kriv and Zhu occurred. My understanding is that only Kriv, Aubric, Sindar, and Zhu are still in town debating how to address handling the Hunt Lords. I am not concerned that the 4 of us cannot deal with the threat.

They had. They were about to walk off to do just that except Zhu made her speech. That along with what Pavel said. Both statements changed their mind so they came back to support Zhu and investigate further.

I've specifically seen Davroar and Jaliera talk about not leaving and Zindra returning to the tavern. There was a *vote* to leave but nobody actually indicated getting on the road, or who still has horses after half of them died in the mudslide.

And Pavel still hasn't indicated which group he's with.

I think it was more than "about to". Several had posted they were moving off already. In fact Jaliera had already sent Whisper off flying ahead. and then the DM posted this:

"I would also say that group "Aquadyne", that is Bern, Davroar, Jaliera, Pavel and Zindra are now in Aqua's hand. You might as well start your new thread."

So I believe they've left. That is why Zhu only directed her conversation to Kriv and Aubric. I suppose again, we can leave it up to Nep and Aqua to make a definitive statement.

Yeah, and I wasn't about to invent what they were doing and was waiting on a definitive "here we go" post from anyone in that group before doing so.

Granted but we also did get a pointed OOC Comment from Neptune along with his PC (who is among the group that "walked off") since then Davroar, Jaliera, and Zindra (a second time) have stated they would assist Zhu and the other group.

I guess I am failing to see what the issue is. The characters rethought their actions and have indicated they changed their minds. Aqua has not started the other thread to indicate they have left either.

Issue was I only posted what Zhu said because the others had already left. Jaliera had sent Whisper off to scout, they'd all made definitive statements about leaving, and the DM seemed to confirm the party had split up. When I posted that Zhu moved a few steps off and looked back, in my mind the others were gone and she was looking at Kriv, Aubric, and Sindar to see if they'd join her. Her comments were intended as a private chat between she and Kriv, and then some asides with Aubric.

In the end, we can do it however the co-DMs prefer, although having the whole party of 9-10 pcs here seems like overkill.

Miales, You get a choice. Which way are you going? After the doppelganger under DM-Aquadyne or after the the dwarf known as Weevil under DM-Neptune? We're both happy to DM and neither will be upset either way.

Putting my two cents in this, I did Davroars post in reaction to Pavel's "Hold, friends..." thinking that Pavel was somewhat lagging behind our group as we just started to move away towards High Forest. Davroar would most likely would be walking beside Jaliera at the time she commanded Whisper to scout, but would have stopped to look back and pay attention to Pavel.

If it is decided that Pavel can not respond in the scene as Zeim intended then I am ok with just moving on.

I thought Zhu was coming with us, therefore we would have turned back to see if she was coming. So only a couple of steps..?

Zhu was not in Jaliera's group. She was in the group heading to Silverymoon and after the Dwarf, not after the Doppelganger and into the forest with Jaliera and Davroar.

The groups:

(Aquadyne DM): Bern, Davroar, Jaliera, Pavel, Zindra
(Neptune DM): Aubric, Kriv, Sindar, Zhu

Aqua - On the issue of using 3rd level spells for communication how about this? Use an Augury (as a Ritual) each day and ask whether or not we need to communicate with the other group? That way we only have to do it as necessary. If the DM is kind we won't get screwed around on the answer.

Of course if you have to "memorize" the Sending spell in advance every day I suppose it is still a lost spell slot. Although, if we do the Augury at night before we sleep then we only have to use the Sending the next morning if the DMs answer is that we need to catch up with the other group, so if the DM says "all is copacetic", then no need to memorize Sending that next day.

I was referring to spell slots for combat, that are better used for healing and such. I've got enough known spells that I have had Sending on there for a long while anyway, only recently adding Augury at the expense of something I don't think I'll ever use because I have better alternatives. So we're good there.

As for those 3x level 3 and 2x level 4 slots per long rest, given that I only need 4 hours for the benefit of a long rest, I can almost always guarantee a nightly communication without impact to my slots when I wake.

Even if all my 3+4 slots are expended, I can trance 4 hours... shuffle learned spells.... do sending up to 5x.... trance another 4 hours, back to full

Also, we lost 5 horses on the way here. Some may want to buy more eventually? Or steal the invisible ones in the stable

Yeah, what I was saying is similar. No need to memorize Sending. Use the slot for Combat or Healing spells. Then at night do a Ritual Augury and if it suggests we contact the other group take your rest and do it when you refresh.

No need to. It can be used as a Ritual. You can cast it at will with no spell slots needed. It just takes 10 minutes.

But it needs to be a learned spell and I can only change those after a long rest. That's my point... I "know" 122 spells but can only prepare 24 (12 automatic +12 of my choice). A lot of them have better counterparts or are not worth the spell slot so it narrows down my choices, and I'm pretty happy with where I am... always tweaking of course.

No I don't believe that is true. As long as it is on your spell list you can cast it as a Ritual. It doesn't need to be on your daily list at all. It is free and costs nothing to use as a Ritual.

From the PHB: "The caster must also have the spell prepared or on his or her list of spells known..." so no need to have it on your daily allotment.

Yeah, Rituals are awesome. You can basically cast any of them at any time for no cost! It just takes +10 minutes added to the regular casting time. There are a few, naturally, that you'd like to use quickly or might need in combat, so have to be on your daily allotment, but most are just free.
