Following along with Jaliera, his mind is on getting some food into his belly so he purposely ignores the barbs being slung around and simply says "Good Morning" to everyone with a polite smile on his face.

Arus

"Well," he says dryly, arching an eyebrow, "with us both thinking the other's doing the eye-f***ing twould seem we're both f***ing-cross-eyed."

Arus nods, "Happy hunting." he says and returns to his table.

Taking a seat, he takes a bite of toast, speaking to his companions.

"Intriguing bunch. Large hunting party. Circumspect."

DM

Arus walks away from the table he had approached and once he returns to the party's table, the other table of about a dozen hunters get up as a group. They casually drop a couple of gold coins on the table, move to the vestibule by the exit, gather their belongings and leave.

Sindar

"I guess we can imagine some difficulties in our travels, given the clientele we just met. Let's take care of business first, and then we can take care of them, if necessary."

Aubric

Aubric relaxes slightly, enough to focus on enjoying a hearty meal before several more days of traveling and trail rations.

After a bit the two groups both leave, one after another. The first group of hunters gets up, heads to the vestibule at the exit, gather there things and walk out the door. Not seconds after that, the second group follows suit. There is no conversation between the two groups the entire time you were there, not even in passing.

Sin dar

He says in a soft voice it might be useful to figure out how they pick out those they hunt. Or for that matter who runs this little event. Especially if we want to put an end to it.". He shrugged. He seemed vaguely interested in putting a stop to what he perceived as something less wholesome.

Aubric

As the room empties and Aubric's fed well enough to fight if he has to -- but doesn't want to -- he mutters dryly, "Let me guess. The hunt is right along the path we plan to use to leave town."

Pavel

"Sometimes it just doesn't pay to be 'just passing through'."

Arus

Arus finishes his jam on toast (a simple breakfast yet a mind-blowing exotic dish to undersea folk).

"Ironically, we are just passing through and being paid." he says to Pavel with good cheer.

The triton stands and makes for the door.

"I'll see to the harnesses. Meet in the yard at quarter-to?" he suggests to his companions before turning to the barman.

"How much to keep these?" he asks, pointing to his slippers.

Jaliera

"Think we should stay together for as long as we can today."

She still cannot shake the feeling that they are about to be hunted.

"And I agree with Sindar. This event needs shutting done."

<Bern>

"How do a bunch of 'strangers' expect to convince these locals from doing what they have planned", he asked.

Sindar

"Kill them all and let the gods sort them out?" His tone is humorous, even though there was just a bit of seriousness too.

Zhu

"Actually, I don't think they're locals. At least not the ones we've seen. If they're hunters, they likely came here from elsewhere. Now, whoever is running the hunt is local, and is probably living in that keep we're headed to."

Kriv

The Dragonborn noble held his peace. His inscrutable expression radiated disapproval, but of what exactly it would be hard to say. The rumoured practice, the desire to oppose it, the species of the clientele, it could be nearly anything.

Zindra

"I'm up for whatever you all decide to do, but we know very little about what's going on here. I mean, we didn't really talk to anyone or ask any questions of the locals, did we? However, I am pretty sure that those two groups weren't local. I think I recognized one of them boarding that boat casino in Yartar. I'm not sure though, Bern and I didn't board, if you recall. And it was evening and there were a lot of folk and we were a distance away so I can't be sure."

"Those folk that just left are all richer than these common folk. Everything about them, the clothing, footwear and their entitled attitude, just point to wealthy, spoiled folk. The reputation of this place is that rich folk come here to hunt and I thought that was over with but maybe not. And if we are here and they are outside... "

"I believe there was even talk of folks hunting each other, wasn't there? That might partially explain the looks we were getting. Evaluating competition."

<Bern>

"So maybe we should wait a bit and see if any of them make it back", he said with a wicked grin.

Aubric

"As Zindra said," the cleric notes, "we know very little about what's going on. Violence other than self defense risks hurting innocent people. If there's a game afoot, we should be invited to it and know the rules. And I would hope that any such rules would be forthcoming. This isn't a mob, this is a carefully planned event, even if it is a lethal one."

He shrugs, still enjoying his food, a bite scooped onto his fork but not yet consumed until he finishes.

"So if I have a vote, I say we do our business and leave, unless we're explicitly invited to join whatever's happening. And then we can decide whether it's something we want to put a stop to or avoid." He gestures with his non-fork hand in the general direction of the keep, or where he thinks it is outside the walls of this room. "Likely the source of the violence isn't something we'd easily defeat, and we'd play into their plans by playing... even winning.... their game."

Zhu

She nods agreement to Aubric's comments.

DM

Arus sees to the harnesses which were stored with the wagon in or near the stables. They are secure and intact. The stableboy there had taken good care of the horses who were feeding when Arus shows up and the wagons which he had been keeping covered and dry. Those horses that had suffered some injuries had had their wounds washed and even bandaged.

Inside the rest of the group finishes up their breakfast. Avgar, the proprieter enters the taproom for the first time towards the end of their repast. He tends to some matters elsewhere before approaching the table.

"I do hope the accommodations were satisfactory?" He is waiting patiently for his payment.

OOC: He's expecting his 56 gold pieces. He had quoted 5 gold per person and 1 gold per horse and you have 6 that survived.

Davroar

After his uneventful first watch last night, he quickly falls into a deep sleep in what is probably the most comfortable bed he has ever slept in.

It is only the sounds of people moving around and the morning sunlight that finally gets him up. Stretching the soreness out from his limbs after surviving yesterdays mudslide, he quickly grabs his clothing and thumps down to the common room to find everyone is ahead of him in getting some breakfast.

Sitting down he quickly eats his breakfast, and with a mouthful of food pleasantly nods in agreement to Avgar's question. His horse had sadly died in the mudslide so he pulls out from his pouch a mix of gold and silver to cover his share for the night's stay.

Kriv

The Dragonborn noble paid his share in cold, hard gold, as was right and proper.

Since the others were getting ready to settle, he reached for his coin purse as well.
