Davroar

Davroar will fill a small bowl of the stew for himself, and takes a moment to find that it smells pretty good right now on an empty stomach. Slightly shrugging his shoulders in accepting Jaliera's instruction, Davroar wonders how convincing he will be in not eating the stew. Raised up in a barbarian tribe his table manners are sadly lacking, so it is natural for him to simply bend over his bowl and noisily slurp the stew without actually swallowing it.

Aubric's tyrade at them had somewhat of an effect on the young man. He fills his bowl and gathers some bread. Swirling the stew that looked delicious his stomach rumbling.

"Maybe Aubric's right. Maybe the stew is just a stew and part of the price we pay for the room. It would fit with the prices and all."

He goes ahead and takes a bite of the stew after watching Aubric with his bowl. Finding the taste and texture of the stew invigorating. That one bite quickly becomes another as he enjoys the food.

He whispers to Jaliera and Davroar, "I think we were being overcautious. This is good stew."

Jaliera

hough she trusts her companions and a handful of others, Jaliera's experiences have had a marked effect on her young life, making her distrustful of strangers.

"It does smell good but I'm not taking the risk."

"Let's discuss a watch rotation," he adds in a more calm and practical manner. "I know some of us can get a full night's rest in half the time. I'm happy to take half the night..."

They party are obviously paying out-of-towner prices but he can accept that. The party are quite affluent anyway with half of them having shares in a magical mine in Phandelin.

The triton tends to eat reservedly out of habit. An undersea dweller has to be mindful of... stoppages of play, when eating food of the land.

So he eats a luncheon portion and listens to the talk.

"I can take crack of dawn." he offers.

She eats and drinks selectively, but finds the meal to be good. "I can watch all night. As you know I don't sleep." Indeed, she spends the night hours in Reverie, a kind of restful meditative state.

As the group continues to discuss what to do some time passes. It is clear that if there was taint in the food and drink, it was not having any adverse affect on anyone. Sindar, who makes a living by reading a room, can see that the folks here are indeed locals. None of the people look poor in any way. If anything, the average patron might be a tad better off than those in other similar villages. By looking at their garb he is sure that they are mostly hunters and loggers but unlike other villages, their clothing and equipment are not mended in any way. They seem to be well cared for or new.

Davroar

With two volunteers already and with Zhu not needing to sleep, Davroar likes his sleep too much and will not put up his hand to do guard duty. He does keep an eye around the table as the others partake of the meal, but will not give in to the temptation to eat the stew. Davroar feels he could simply wait until getting into his room and munch of some of his dry rations if his stomach continues to complain.

"Davroar and I will take a different shift each.. just in case."

She is beginning to feel foolish.. and hungry.. but she sticks to her principles.

"I can do a shift if needed", he offers.

Sindar

Feeling much more comfortable after examining the other patrons and the room. He takes a bowl and some bread and eats heartily. In between bites he says "I can take a shift as well. Though I suspect that we won't be messed with."

It is getting late and Filroy approaches the table "Well, your rooms are ready. I shall let you decide who sleeps with whom and where. Your rooms are through that door, numbers 4, 5, 7, 8 and 10. You can pay me now. I will have hot water delivered to each room. Please come out to refresh your bath water when ready."

He waits for payment.

In the mean time, the waitress returns to the table with plates of fruit and cookies for the table. She passes out smaller plates for the dessert and clears the bowls.

He slips an appropriate sum in a stack on the table to cover more than his fair share of the amount requested. They could settle up out of sight.

Aubric

Aubric makes sure to enjoy a glass of brandy as his preferred dessert, and once their rooms are ready, suggests those alternating on watch share a room so the other one can get more effective rest.

He's impartial to his choice of roommate, and would prefer to rest first and watch later, if the question comes up in conversation. Like Zhu, he can use Reverie to recover in half the time while still maintaining awareness -- but a preference not to respond -- to outside events.

Davroar

He opens his mouth about to object as Jaliera speaks for both of them, but figures if he wants to share a room with her then he better agree instead. Giving her a quick side-glance, he grumbles, "Yeah, ok. I'll take first watch then."

With his empty stomach it should be fairly easy to stay awake a bit longer. Slapping down the required money, he will excuse himself to relieve himself outside before coming back to do his shift.

Jaliera

Wanting to get away from the sight of her friends tucking in, she watches Davroar leave the table. She decides to talk to the staff quietly to see what she might learn.
