Whether you're a Player or a GM, we want to know which cinematic worlds you'd love to explore—full of magic, mayhem, or mystery!
1. What movie(s) or movie series would you most love to play in as a game setting? And why? (Feel free to name as many as you like!)
Example genres people often enjoy: • Science Fiction – Blade Runner, Dune, Star Wars, The Matrix, Inception • Fantasy – The Lord of the Rings, Harry Potter, Stardust, Pan’s Labyrinth • Supernatural Drama – Beetlejuice, The Others, Crimson Peak, Practical Magic • Teen Thrillers/Drama – Jennifer’s Body, Twilight, Scream, The Craft • Superhero Stories – X-Men, Spider-Man (any version!), The Incredibles, Deadpool, The New Mutants, Avengers • Campy or Offbeat Worlds – Barbie, Clue, The Fifth Element, Scott Pilgrim vs. the World | | | | Joined: May 2000 Posts: 80,333 Likes: 75 Wizop Administrator | Wizop Administrator Joined: May 2000 Posts: 80,333 Likes: 75 | Always wanted to run a Bene Gesserit game and a Game of Thrones style game, both of which require a big time investment up front! Movies... Hmmm if I was doing Science Fiction, well 12 Monkeys.. Ready Player One (real world/cyber crossovers)... or MEN IN BLACK which would probably be my top pick. Easy game, fun, and hopefully funny!
Fantasy movies I would love to play in would include Labyrinth as I love the idea of crossing over into a crazy fantasy world. Who Framed Roger Rabbit as I love the idea of toons and real people! Jumanji (original or newer versions) I think those movies would make for a fun fantasy based action adventure. Any Christmas/Santa movie. I think a game saving Christmas might be a fun one-off for the holiday season. Or if you want to continue, a league that helps the major holiday players against whoever wanting to destroy their holidays.
Supernatural Drama.. oh this one is full of possibilities! Underworld, I mean who doesn't want Lycans vs vamps? Sleepy Hollow. I like the darker toned classical horror. Speaking of: Dracula, Wolfman... THE MUMMY... a universal dark universe (as was talked about at one point) would be SO MUCH FUN!
Teen Thrillers or Drama. Hhmm Not sure about this one, but, MAYBE: The Craft. Cabin in the Woods. Is that one teen thriller? I think so. Maybe. The Faculty... who would not want to play in a game where the adults are being taken over by aliens? Brightburn. Evil superman? Count me in!
Superhero stories: Oh New Mutants for sure! Loved that movie and it looked great if it had been the pilot to a TV show. Spider-man, always fun. Suicide Squad... quasi villains as the heroes? Oh yes please! Now this one would be such fun... BIG HERO 6. Off the super path, but still fun. Don did a Sky High game, and that one had so much potential! And of course, going with my love of the universal monsters... League of Extraordinary Gentlemen.
Campy or Offbeat. Again Roger Rabbit. Sky Captain and the World of Tomorrow. Flash Gordon. Now this one might be a lot of fun: Clue. Group together to solve whodunnit.
Jinkies!

I even bought the Encyclopedia of Dune for reference material in my youth, but couldn't stomach the amount of prep I felt I needed to do to pull it off.
Any time travel movie works for me, but hard to do right. Though I have become interested in Timewatch (a Gumshoe engine game) of late which takes time travel to it's crazy extrapolation. Could be fun with the right crew of players. | | |
