She could sense Aendell's reluctance.

"What do you hope to achieve by pressing on?" she asked. "We don't even know what way to go. The one we were following is dead."

Aendell

"I do not know, exactly", he admits sheepishly. "I have been warned by Iomedae that some great evil is coming so I am loathe to give up on anything unusual."

Selaim

"Seriously? You are using 'We're on a mission from God.' to justify? If what Cat says is true about goblins then we should follow the band that grouped up. As in the ambushers."

Aendell

"Coming to that realization a bit late, aren't we?" he says to Selaim's first point, but nods at her last comment. "I am fine with continuing on. Others seemed to think nothing would be gained."

Coral

"We can carry on, if everyone wants," she responded. "But I am not sure what we would be trying to achieve."

"Sneak up and listen? Sneak up and take a prisoner? Sneak up and kill them all?"

Catalena

"As I said before," Cat spoke, "The goblins have been here forever, hundreds or thousands of them, all over the area. They usually are just fighting one another or leaving well enough alone. They don't attack towns, just travelers sometimes who get too close. I don't like our chances trying to find and attack a full tribe, if that's your plan."

Aendell

"No. I had hoped we might learn more about why they attacked the town and why different tribes are working together. With the one we were following now dead.....? Tell you what; search them all carefully and then lets go back, but bring the body of the one we were following with us."

Searching the battle site they discover that a few of the goblins are actually barely alive, but unconscious. They determine that three different clans are represented by the ones that are still breathing. As far as items of interest, rusty weaponry, rusty armor, ratty clothing, and moldy food stuffs. Nothing worth even carrying back to town.

Aendell

"Lets bring back the wounded to question." He suggests.

Selaim

"Bring back a wounded goblin? To a town that was just attacked by goblins?"

Aendell

He nods. "We don't have to parade them thru the streets, but we need answers to questions. Heck, we can tie him up, wrap him in a tarp and I'll carry him over my shoulder. No one would know. If anyone here speaks Goblin we can do it ourselves here." He looks around.

Coral

"I can speak Goblin."

Aendell

"Ah. Problem solved then."

Catalena

"I do as well," added Cat.

The little green fellow is lying in a pool of his own ichor. He is looking up at the larger beings with clear fear in his eyes. It doesn't take much to think he believes he isn't long for this world.

Coral

"So ... who is carrying him? And where are we taking him?"

Aendell

"Only reason to carry him was to get him back to town where someone could talk to him. Since we have two who speak Goblin, we can just question him here. No need to take him anywhere now." He looks at Coral and Cat. "I leave it to you then. Maybe see why these tribes are working together and why they ambushed the other one and of course anything we can find out about the attack on the town."

Catalena

Cat knelt down next to the goblin, trying to note to which tribe he belonged. She sang a soothing wordless melody and, attempting to hide her disgust, reached out a hand to touch his wound.

Selaim watches over the proceedings. Eyes and ears roving around them wary of the possibility of a band of goblins arriving late to the skirmish that had just happened.

She concentrated and, oblivious to those around, pulled together the essence of the world, to fit to her will.

The area remains quiet. The battle is long over, and still the forest creatures are keeping their distance. Even scavengers won't brave things while the party members are in the clearing.

The healing of the goblin softened the glare in its eyes ever so slightly. Coral's magic pushed it further along the line of cooperation. Cat's manner seems to have made the decision for the little creature.

"We are being called, or so our leaders say. There is something that offers great big rewards to all of the tribes, great magics." He paused there almost as if he realised he should be saying that much. But he already had, so he gave Cat a conspiratorial smile.

Cat smiled and nodded as the goblin spoke.

"Why were you fighting then? Get more big rewards if more of your tribe to get them?" she asked. "What is the thing offering the rewards? Have you seen it?"

Goblin

It looks around like maybe it shouldn't be talking about what it was talking about, yet it continues. "I don't know what the rewards are, magical items, I think. As far as this battle those are ones that didn't want to follow and help out. They had to be eli.... deaded."

Coral

She chipped in with, "Do you know why the town was attacked?"

Catalena

Cat turned to Miales, Zak, and Aendell and said, "The goblin says that some being has been offering the leaders of the various tribes rewards, he thinks magical items, to follow its instructions. But the goblins are not all in agreement about this, thank Desna, and this skirmish here is proof of their in-fighting as to whether or not to do what this being wants. This one is on the side of the leaders. We are trying to find out more details."
