"If this might be the last Goblin from a force that attacked the town after being charmed or controlled, then we should do our best to find it and question it. Let's keep going for now."

Selaim

Selaim let them speak and talk things over.Coral's point made sense but the others were right. They did not know all that is going on.

"Perhaps I should scout ahead so that we don't all go bumbling into their camp."

Aendell

He nods to Selaim not bothering to add the customary "Be careful."

Zak: “be very careful “

The group head off into the woods. Here the trees go from sparse to close, in a matter of a few meters. There are game trails that lead through the woods, but it takes skill to follow them well. The goblin is clearly one of those who has knowledge of traveling in the wilderness.

Selaim

The thief moves ahead of the group continuing to follow the trail of the wounded goblin. Her thoughts on what they'd been discussing.

A normal success offers: The goblin's blood trail is beginning to thin. He isn't dripping as much, but his pace has slowed, his steps are closer together than they were. A good guess is they are a few hours behind it.

A success with a raise (8+): All the normal success offers, and they quickly notice that the goblin's trail is being shadowed by another set of goblin sized tracks. A group of about a half dozen goblins are following the wounded one, but staying in the woodline, avoiding mucking up the trail the first goblin is leaving.

Higher than 12+: It is reasonable to conclude that they are being lead into a trap. ]

Aendell

He pauses and bends down to examine the tracks and grunts softly. "See here", he points off to one side. "There are more of them. Maybe 6 or so. They are following the wounded one. And, he is slowing down. Looks suspicious to me. Almost like he is letting us catch him."

Coral

"Ideally, I would like a little bit of warning before we get into a fight," she said quietly. "I would appreciate it if we could manage that."

Catalena

"I'm not an expert tracker," the Varisian offered, "but it seems the trail is a few hours old. How would they even know we were following him? He was hiding in a hole and a few hours ago we were back in Sandpoint. It could be rival clans."

Coral

"Hmmm..." she replied. ""what if they are as stubborn as pigshit, and because there is a chance of an ambush, they are willing to sit there all day and more, for the chance of an ambush?"

Selaim

Ahead of them but hearing them murmuring behind her stops. She crouches down and strains to hear what they are saying behind her. She glances around then waits for them. Well at least for them to get closer so she can hear what they are saying.

(OOC: Would like to point out that Selaim did go ahead of them and while they got those excellent rolls for notice she is oblivious <points up>. I am guessing they are speaking in hushed tones 10-20 yards behind her.)

Aendell

"I suppose it is possible they're from a rival clan and are tracking him, and I suppose his pace could be slowing due to blood loss, but it seems suspicious. We need to be on guard." He moves up to let Selaim know.

Catalena

"But Coral," the bard replied, "They aren't waiting anywhere for an ambush. They are moving away from us. But Aendell is right, we should be ready for anything."

((OOC Pande, I'm assuming I'm out of PP from the Beast Friend for a long time with the dog. It takes a full hour of complete rest to recover 5 PP. Or spending a Bennie. Bennies are up to date?))

Selaim

"There is more than one?" Selaim asks as she silently berates herself for being so oblivious.

Aendell

"About 6 or so following the wounded one." He points out the tracks off to one side.

[OOC: I have been bad about giving out bennies. It's a different rhythm than at a live table. Everyone take 3 bennies.]

Catalena

Cat ventured, "I could befriend a squirrel or bird to help scout for us."

((OOC OK, will spend two bennies (Catalena down to 6 Bennies) to refresh her PP back to full (10). ))

Selaim

Realizing she was out of her depth in trailing the goblin especially since she missed another band following it, she stays with Aendell and moves slower to allow the rest of the group to catch up.

Coral

"Getting a bird to look ahead for us would be very useful, I think," she responded to Cat.

Catalena

"Help me keep an eye open for a suitable avian scout, please," Cat replied. "We're a few hours behind our quarry and the spell doesn't last that long so I should wait."
