Selaim

Selaim takes the child from Coral and carries the sleeping form to the sea. Using the ocean water, she attempts to clean the ichor from the child while looking for signs of injuries or if the child is waking.

The child is fast asleep. The ichor cleans off well enough, and as Selaim works with the boy, she realizes he is in the deep sleep of exhaustion. He doesn't seem to have any kind of injuries. Though his hands are scraped up from the scrabbling through the cave.

Aendell

"Wake him and talk to him?" He suggests. He knows the boy appears exhausted, but there is much they need to know before blindly running into a dark cave.

Selaim

Trying to be gentle, Selaim hold the child and wakes them up.

It takes a fair amount of rousing, but you are able to wake the child up. The boy is still groggy, but he doesn't seem afraid, more confused by the current state of affairs.

"What?"

Selaim

Trying to remain calm and gentle.

"You are alright. You are with friends. Who are you and why were you in the caves?"

Billy

"I'm Billy, son to the stablemaster. I was chasing goblins. One snuck into town, and I went after it," he says triumphantly. "I think I mortally wounded it before it climbed away."

Selaim

Brave for a kid she thinks to herself. Not the wounding part. The fight then chase. Especially the chase but that might have been more adrenaline of pursuing the kill than anything else.

"A fine brave thing to do, Billy. You were covered in some sort of ichor and asleep. Do you remember anything strange happening during the chase?"

Billy

"It twas dark. I was in a sea cave and stabbing the thing that I chased. I hit it a few times, I know because I got sprayed with a bunch of it's blood. I guess what that black stuff was. It ran, and was able to climb better than I could. I slipped, and couldn't find my way back out. I fell asleep because it was just ..." an adult might have said exhausting.

Selaim

"You say the goblin ran into these caves?" she asks the boy.

She then looks at the others to see if they had anything.

Aendell

He shakes his head, not thinking the boy would know much more than he's already said. "Are you hurt? Would you like one of us to take you home?"

Billy

"I can get home," he says proudly. Though a perceptive person might think that he would like an escort too.

Coral

She shrugged. "We could take him home and come back more prepared?"

"I mean, I'd quite like a nap, but I could do that here."

Aendell

He shakes his head. "I will take the boy home. While I am there I will round up the others and come back. Don't want the trail to get colder than it is. Why don't you both track the Goblin thru the caves. Leave very visible and obvious signs of your route. If you find him, and he's alone, do what you think is best. If he leads you to move of them, wait for me and the others to come. We will follow your trail. I suspect we'll be about 30 minutes to an hour behind you."

Selaim

"Go we'll take a look around or get a short rest at the mouth of the cave. Just bring back the others in case we are about to run into a camp of these things." Selaim said glancing at Coral.

She starts rifling through her pack until she finds her hooded lantern. Thinking to herself that a steady light would be better than a flickering torch. Rummaging around she finds the oil and fills the lantern.

"I'll look ahead a little."

Reaching into her pouch she pulls out a piece of chalk and marks the outside of the cave then the spot where they found Billy. With the lit lantern she looks around for the next spot of blood.

[OOC: She will clearly mark where she finds blood. Occasionally she'll check the blood and try to gauge how far ahead the creature is.]

Coral

"Shout if you need me," Coral told Selaim, as she lay down on some dry sand for a little contemplative rest.

Aendell

"Lets go home boy" he says, pointing the way back around the beach. He doesn't want to risk the boy climbing up the rope.

Aendell departs and heads to the cliff. He doesn't think he can crawl back up the way Billy crawled down. Another choice would be to climb the rope, which is more challenging than it was coming down. Or he can take the long way around.

Selaim follows the trail through the cave system to the top of the bluff. The passages widen as they get higher and farther away from the sea, which is odd, but they seem natural.

By the time she reaches the bluff, there is a pretty steady blood trail. The stuck goblin was bleeding pretty profusely. She might wonder how it kept on going. But clearly, it did, stumbling its way towards the tree line.

Selaim

Once she reaches the bluff she looks around and marks the location of the cave then looks for any landmarks so that she can find the trail again. She then heads back down to Coral.

Once she gets back to the other girl, she says, "The cave comes out on the bluff. We probably can meet the others there. Maybe get some rest in a dryer area as well."

[OOC: She'll let Coral decide if Coral wants to rest there or up on the bluff.]

Aendell

He doesn't think risking the boy trying to climb up a rope is a good idea, so he plans to take the long way around.

Coral

"OK," she replied.

"Let's leave a note."

Using her sword she scratched in the sand in big letters: 'Gone to the bluff.' She then added an arrow pointing to the bluff for good measure.

"OK, let's go," she said to Selaim.

[OOC: I will assume they put it above the high tide line.

Let's skip forward to when Aendell returns and if Cat returns with him?]
