Petal

Petal, with Catalena's mind riding inside her doggie senses, bravely hopped in to follow Coral, ready to sniff out danger.

Coral

She continued along the tunnel in the dark.

The travel, hunched or crawling as the case may be becomes tiedous. She is sure she is a couple of stories beneath the house at this point and still in the dark. The smells of the earth around her are starting to become moist and slightly salty. When suddenly Petal starts to bark behind her. The little dog can't pass in the tunnel, but pushes against Coral trying to do so.

Coral for her part can't see anything, and the incessant barking makes hearing anything quite difficult as well.

[OOC: We won't roll initiative, instead I will let the blind person go first. ]

((OOC Since Catalena can sense what Petal is sensing, can she translate to human and then shout information to Coral?))

[OOC: Dog can't speak human, how would you do that?]

((OOC how would you read this as working? MIND RIDER (+1): The caster can communicate and sense through any of the beasts he currently has befriended.
The dog has sensed something and is barking (or maybe just barking randomly I guess). Cat would share that sense and I'm thinking would be able to be able to vocalize it in the same way a human brain would be able to translate the smell sense themselves. I'm not suggesting the dog can talk but that Cat would talk and shout down the hole.))

[OOC Alright, I can go with that. The dog smells something about two meters in front of Coral, or three meters in front of Petal. Describe your informational exchange IC, that works for me.]

Catalena

Cat crouched by the small entrance under the wardrobe floor, keeping as close to Petal as possible after the dog disappeared down the hole. She closed her eyes to concentrate on the dog's senses. As they traveled away, she felt the small animal's anxiousness but also anger and a strong desire to drive away what had endangered her family.

Suddenly, Cat's eyes snapped open as Petal caught an unfamiliar scent. The dog's reaction went off like an alarm ringing in her head. While Petal barked furiously, Cat shouted down the hole as loudly as she could, "Coral! Two meters before you!"

[OOC: Coral can hear Cat's yell. Also Petal detects a smell she recognizes, her master is in front of Coral as well, near that two meter mark.]

A sudden terrifying thought struck Cat as Petal recognized the scent. We met the mother, Amele, today, and the son, Aeren, and the daughter, Verah. But at one point she had wondered, Where was the father, Aldergast? She'd assumed he was working.

"Coral!?!" she cried out in a fervor. "That's the father down there too! Don't hurt him!!!"

At Catalina's second call, she caught herself mid casting to go with what she had conjured thus far and create a brief flame in the palm of her hand, so that she could see what was ahead of her.

It works

Her view of the tunnel is blocked by the backside of a person. From what she can see it is a man, likely someone older than she is, though it is tough to tell from this vantage. It seems like the person was doing what Coral was doing but got stuck.

Coral

She reached out and grabbed the man's ankle, whilst preparing herself to avoid a kick in the head.

"Are you okay?" she asked, whilst feeling the ankle for warmth and a pulse.

There is warmth and a pulse, but the ankle doesn't respond to being pulled. She is pretty sure the man is unconcious.

Coral

"There's an unconscious man stuck in the tunnel ahead of me!" she called out.

"I am going to have to back out, fetch a rope, come back in, tie him to it and back out again, before we all try to pull him out."

"Unless the dog can get out and bring the rope to me. That would be a lot faster."

Selaim

Leaning over the hole in the wardrobe hears this and starts rummaging in her pack for some rope. Finding it she pulls it out.

"Either or. But I have some rope ready for you."

It takes time, but it isn't difficult. They have Petal bring the rope down, which is aided by Cat's spell. Once the man's feet are secured together, they begin to drag him back, and Coral aids, mostly assisting them in keeping the man from getting stuck.

An hour later, they have extracted a beleaguered man from the hole. Cat and those who know people in the town, or remember from the festival recognize him as the father of the family. He is alive, though scrapped up. He has suffered damage to his hands and arms. It is unclear if he did this to himself or if it was from an outside source.

Cat was gratified that she and Petal could help get the rope down to pull back Aldergast. By the time they had completed, she had released her hold on Petal and needed a rest before she would be able to Heal his wounds. She was gratified he still breathed.

"Zachergillan?" she asked her gnomish friend, "Might Cayden Cailean be called upon to help this man recover?"


((OOC An hour's time would mean Cat's and all Coral's spells will have expired or used up all our PP's to maintain them. Just wanted to check on that. Seems like a long time and don't know if Coral was unable to continue to explore until he was pulled out?))

[OOC: Correct. It does take time. Even if Coral goes right back in, her spells may expire at an in opportune moment, just an FYI.]

[OOC: In case I am not clear, the man won't die without help. He would just fare better and likely become conconcious. Exposure, food, water are his biggest aliments, even though he is scraped up.]

[OOC - I was assuming that as soon as she came across the man, she would just not renew the spells, and minimise the power loss.]

"Let's see about getting the man help, and then I can try again," Coral comments

Zak: “I can but try.”

Ooc: what would I need to roll?

[OOC: d6, d6 for Healing and the Wild Die. Healing as a spell is fine for taking care of the damage he has suffered. Relief could be fine to remove conditions, rouse him for example. But mostly a little first aid will take care of him.]

Zak works on the man. While he doesn't improve the man's situation, he doesn't harm him either. The man will live, though he doesn't rouse at this time.
