"Might not be the best idea", he said after a moment's thought. "I might end up doing something ... not so helpful", he said. "But I can stand there and be intimidating. And you can threaten to let me take a go at him if he doesn't cooperate", he said with an evil grin.

Zhu

"It is up to Bern. He didn't seem thrilled with the idea earlier. In any case, both the smith and the magic vendor will need to wait for morning I suppose. Anyone want to talk to Tamalin about the tunnel?"

Sindar

"What is to be gained by talking to her? We have guessed at the purpose. Knowing it is here helps us should we have a need.". He does seem to wonder why they would let the woman who presumably knows of it be informed her secret is no longer. He also wonders what the ramifications of telling her that. After all it wouldn't be difficult to determine who leaked the information.

Zhu

She shakes her head. "It is bolted from the inside. Unless we gain a contact to help us we cannot use it, even if we know it is here. Tamalin is likely to help us for the unspoken possibility we might inform the authorities of its presence and she lose use of it. There is a danger to Rory, though, and the odds of us coming back this way are small, so probably best to let it lie."

[OOC: I think rejoining the group seems like the best choice, sorry I wasn't clear for Sindar.]

DM

The bar is eventually closed, Rory is escorted home, and the party finally meets up in someone's random room with everyone present to discuss where to go.

It's clear some of the group need to head to Olostin's Hold to investigate the weapons sale and the Weevil.

It's also clear some of the group, particularly the Emerald Enclave members, want to head to Shadowtop Cathedral, and rumors indicate that Bern's doppelganger may be in that direction as well.

It's less clear what's going on with the Giants. Are they buying weapons or are weapons being bought to fight them? Are they fighting each other? Are they fighting dragons?

OOC: Not trying to metagame too much, but let's execute the party split. Nep isn't giving me any more hints to drop because DM foo and Aubric gets to be more than an NPCish prop. I have some ideas for all y'all Emerald Enclave people since I live in the Emerald City and we have lots of trees. Or something like that. Anyway. Let's close up this thread with discussing the different tracks we need to take, arranging communications with each other, and deciding what to do in the morning. Nep and I will start new threads for the split parties shortly.

(OOC - OK, just want to check on the magic shop and the Dwarf smith before we leave here. I presume Zhu is going to Olostin's hold as it is more aligned with the path to Silverymoon she is on, although an Eladrin Elf is quite at home in a forest too.)

ooc: It works a certain way best:

• Olostin's Hold: Arus, Aubric, Kriv, Sindar and Zhu
• Shadowtop Cathedral: Bern, Davroar, Jaliera, Pavel and Zindra

This should work with most character objectives.

Let's roleplay some of it though.

DM
It wasn't until morning that everyone finally got back together as a group. Breakfast was served, free of charge of course. And it was a fine breakfast indeed! A basket of breads preceded platters of sausages, bacon, roast potatoes and other root vegetables and scrambled eggs. Large carafe's of brewed scented tea were set at the table with goblets for all.

When the group seemed to have all arrived and gotten their fill of breakfast, Pavel was asked to reread the note that was found in the tunnel that Rory had led a few of them to.

At about this time an elf walked into the common room and walked past the table. It was the elf that had spoken to Aubric and Rory the night before. As he walked by, he glanced at Aubric but went to a separate table so as to not interrupt the group.

ooc: Some of you might have PMs.

Jaliera

That is what she calls a breakfast!

She sits down and starts to fill her plate whilst wishing everyone a good morning.

"I know there are still some preparations to make but we need to establish who is travelling where first, to make sure each group has adequate supplies. We might want to swap out items to do this as well as purchase others. So who is coming to Shadowtop with Davroar, Bern and myself?"

She skewers a sausage and starts to munch.

Zhu

Sipping at her tea, she eats lightly, as usual. Her breakfast consists of mostly vegetables. As she does she listens to the others talk about splitting up and possibly dividing up their supplies. "Good idea, Jaliera. Perhaps we should see what is available at the magic shop in town first and then, in case we buy anything there, we can divide things up before we go in different directions. We should also make plans for getting back together at some point, even if they are tentative."

(OOC - Since no one has spoken up, Zhu will take the Lightning Rune Stone and add it to her sheet.)

Sindar

The half-elf comes down the stairs, looking like he is ready for the day. The sumptuous breakfast makes his smile just that much wider. He hadn't eaten quite like this in a bit. Nothing like taking the opportunity. He arrives at the table with an overflowing plate and a bit of something hot to drink. He listens while doing his own reaping the bounty of his foraging.

<Bern>

He is ... for the moment at least ... happy to be sitting here with friends enjoying a meal. He listens to the others talk, but has nothing to offer ... at least for now.

Zindra

"So, what did you learn from that little kid? In the tunnel? Find anything interesting?"

ooc: I think only 4 PCs know about the runestones and map.

Davroar

Waking up refreshed after a good sleep, he rubs the sleep from his eyes as he makes his way down to the common room to find a feast waiting for him.
Davroar will load his plate to the rim and even stuff a bread roll into his pocket for later, as he joins everyone at the table to eat. His attention picks up as he is curious too as to what Rory showed the others last night,

Aubric

Aubric nods politely at the elf he'd seen the previous night, offering a small smile. Having mostly eaten his fill of the other options, he grabs a roll of bread and excuses himself from the party table to join the stranger.

Jaliera

"The tunnel led out under the wall so a way of getting in and out without being seen. However the way was locked on this side. Pavel can tell you about a note we found down there. And yes good idea Zhu."

She looks up as Aubic stands.

"Before you go Aubic, what group are you travelling with?"

Pavel

{ooc: going to say he was a little late coming down for breakfast and the conversation paused long enough for the DM note}

After sitting down and gathering a plate of eggs, bacon, and rolls, Pavel yawns then pours himself some of the tea. It'd been a long couple of days already. He responds to the request as he pours.

"The note we found said 'Weapon sale near Olstin Hold. Dwarf has magic to kill giants,'" He says in a hushed tone since he noticed that they weren't alone in the common room.

He lets that sink in to the rest as he cuts his roll in half and places a couple of slices of bacon on one half then adds the eggs. Placing the halves together he starts to eat taking a short pause to say, "That is away from where I am headed though. I still have plans for Shadowtop. But not before I check out the blacksmith."

Zhu

She nods. "Yes, We should see if the blacksmith is the dwarf the note means or it is the one we are following."

Aubric

"Well, your party hasn't officially invited me to join you," he replies to Jaliera. "So ultimately that's your decision. I hope I've proved my worth in combat, and I expect the party with Sindar would be my first choice all things considered." He inclines his head toward the bard, making a small hand motion if he gets Sindar's attention with the comment. [OOC: See PM]

He then turns to join the table with the high elf. "A bit more than cookies," he says by way of introduction, pausing only a moment with his hand on the back of a chair to indicate that he's planning on sitting, and settling in, the opening volley in what he expects to be an information negotiation started.

Sindar

"I think I will refill my plate he says to the group. Going to see if I can get some information on the road ahead." With that he picks up his half eaten plate and wanders past the buffet table to add a few more choices before joining Aubric's table.

"May I join you?"
