I recently have fallen down the rabbit (Harengon?) hole. I was scanning through stuff on Prime to watch, and I saw that there was a TV show playing on the "live TV" channels, and it was the classic Dungeons and Dragons cartoon. Of course I was in! I watched it, and the next episode... Then later on another episode, and the TV was still going as I did other things, and a show called "Encounter Party" came on.
I was hooked, quickly, into that show.
The channel is called Dungeons & Dragons Adventures, and it is all D&D themed shows like the classic cartoon, Encounter Party, a cooking show called Heroes Feast and a few others. The shows are, at least the ones I have seen, done pretty well. And the cooking show is rather, dare I say... heroic?
Has anyone else been catching the shows on this channel? They keep sucking me in
Encounter Party is a group of players (and GM) with a very intriguing storyline. I got frustrated at being able to binge the show and found out it is on Plex free with ads (but I can watch it in order and binge it!
Is anyone else, or has anyone else, watched Encounter Party? As I said, I am loving and quasi-addicted to this show. Fun people, great storyline, and I would love to be part of this group!
Good find, Mina! For fellow Brits I searched through Amazon.co.uk's Prime Video offering and couldn't find the programmes or the channel, so it's probably not available in the UK.
I did however find a 2008 animated movie adaptation of Dragonlance: Dragons of Autumn Twilight. Has anyone seen or heard of it??
Nem, have you thought about using a VPN to spoof what country you are tuning in from? And doing a search for any of the titles I listed will not yield results- they are on the "Live TV" option that I have on the APP on my TV. The channel is Dungeons and Dragons Adventures, and trust me you have to do a bit of scrolling to find it. There is not a search by channel option.
Prime will, occasionally, show me 'what's on now' on channels that I *might* like (but usually don't), which is how I found it. They have commercials, and it truly is live tv, no pause features etc. But FUN shows on that channel.
BTW Prime has a lot of 'live tv' channels. One dedicated specifically to Murder She Wrote for instance. It's an odd assortment of channels but some of them have interesting shows.
Plus if you want to watch Encounter Party, Plex.tv has the show on demand for free.

Yeah I manually scrolled through looking for the programmes or channel. Alas the VPN I currently abuse is through work and UK-based, so doesn't help me a jot!
I use Proton VPN, absolutely love it. Pay in the late fall when they have their sale (around Xmas/Thanksgiving time) and buy a couple of years. Gets it down to $8-9 a month or so. Pay monthly till then $12 a month or so.
So I have watched almost all of the Encounter Party series (2 episodes left). It was entertaining and I did enjoy it. I noticed differences in "rules" from what I am used to in 5e so I am assuming that they're using the new rules set. Makes sense as the show would then also be an advertisement for the updated rules. I also noted a few table practices by the DM that were interesting, such as allowing the pcs to name and describe the random buildings and NPCs they run into and allowing them to describe how their killing blows land.
...allowing the pcs to name and describe the random buildings and NPCs they run into and allowing them to describe how their killing blows land.
When you're sitting around a table this is a lovely way to offload some brain-strain as a GM. I recommend it. Alas I don't think the technique would work for message gaming as well, if at all, because it'd slow down a game even further.
Many games offer this suggestion now, Swords of the Serpentine explicitly says "players help create the world" and they help generate many aspects of things. A standard GM question is "what does that look like? What is there? Etc.."
Zeim, glad you liked it! I *loved* the dinner party with the etiquette test, but my favorite part was the play "Lovers in Linen." I really hope they come out with a second season!
